Spinister may be new around here, but even he can tell that something strange is happening on the Lost Light. Nobody knows what exactly that something is until the lights go out.

Reverse Big Bang - Fic Preview

i'm participating in this year's @tf-bigbang as a writer! the posting period begins tomorrow and so i'm posting a short preview of my work tonight. shoutout to my parter for the event, @calfrxca, whose excellent artwork served as inspiration and who provided helpful feedback during the process. you can find their own preview post here!

There was a thud from deep in the corridor and the atmosphere around them pulsed with an electromagnetic scrape, like a seeker had accidentally dragged one of their claws harshly across cheap steel. A full-group shudder occurred and Misfire swallowed his incredulity back down with a nod. Now they were at the point where blasters were in servo and fingers were on trigger. There was a second thud, and this time, the sound of real scraping followed. Magnus glared down the hall with wide, bright optics, his weapon half-raised. Nautica was stationed similarly, and Spinister was about to join them.

“All of you, stay behind me,” Magnus ordered, taking a step forward. The floor beneath his pede made no sound, but Spinister could see that Swerve’s vents were stalled regardless. Misfire took quick, light steps up so that he was standing right behind Magnus, leaving Swerve as the caboose. In the darkness, every object that could be made out had the cold gray pallor of a corpse.

Magnus was exceptionally careful with his footfalls as they moved forward. Where the heavy metal armor should have clunked to the floor, it instead took like a bird to its nest, with only a soft hiss of friction to indicate that any step had taken place at all. Spinister was not so delicate in his movements but made the effort to be as quiet as Magnus was anyways, along with the others. (Nautica and Swerve were visibly straining with the effort to sneak, but would not be winning any prizes for their form.)

i think if one person stumbles across this blog and thinks the art looks interesting my goal has been fulfilled

tension of wanting to draw for myself vs draw for an audience vs draw badly on purpose but also document my process as a sort of archive for a nebulous figure that blends the self and others. and it's so hard to make time for hobbies these days. hmm
