That is about how my revisiting of Kingdom Hearts went down.

Axel/Roxas was my very first slash ship, maybe even my first real ship, because I remember playing KH2 and knowing that they were in love. But, I was 14 at the time, and teenage girls are great at seeing things deep within accidental subtext. So, when I decided to replay the whole series before KH3 comes out, I wasn’t expecting much more subtext then any other slash pairing out there. And now, partway through KH2:FM….

HOLY SHIT these boys are super gay for each other. Jesus Christ this isnt even subtext. Axel is just full on in love with Roxas. Especially with the extra scenes in the final mix version. Axel defending him to the whole (remaining) organization, Axel’s spirit reaching out to Roxas as his last act before his death, Axel CRYING in their final goodbye?????

Damn my boys are gay for each other.
