Whatcha doing? Preparing for Christmas?

hi,

so the reason why ive been dead silent on tumblr is because i took a break last month. i realized at some point that ive been nurturing some pretty toxic habits, none of which boded particularly well for my mental health (but more importantly, my writing lol)

i've managed about maybe 12kish words this last november? im currently working on three scenes at once and bouncing between them when i lose interest in writing one:

meeting liam and getting thru training

doing "chores" with auren

additional scenes for avett and yuda for when you do chores with them again on your 2nd playthrough

1 - Your hands pass through them like... well, like *he's* made of smoke. The entity ebbs back, towards the window by your sink. “Woah, woah, pal. Getting grabby there. And I didn't take your memories, I just... rehoused them.”

2 - “Which is good, right? We've got a special kid on our hands.” Ysh’vanna says. You cannot help but grin. “They're a walking relic, Auren. You saw what *she* did back on the field-they saved the mission. Saved us. We've hit it huge.”

I hope that’s helpful! There are some others, but I couldn’t find them while replaying. Also, thank you for letting me know that Avett’s nickname for MC isn’t a bug. It’s not for me, so I was wondering if there’s a way to avoid it. Does he only say it if MC flirts with him?

hey, i've gone through and edited some of these and they should be fixed in the next update 👍 as for avett, he only calls you princess as a sort of sarcastic insult, and it's kind of hard to avoid this--it's not something i can remember off the top of my head, lol. on a separate occasion while i was editing his scene i changed most instances of "princess" to "asshole" (and other assorted insults!) because i wanted him to feel ruder, haha. again, this'll show up in the next update

Please don’t be sorry lol, I know what I’m getting my MC into… I think. Plus, it’s super fun to imagine my mess of an MC try to not-so-subtly flirt with Auren, only for him to coolly ignore them. I’m headcanoning that Auren isn’t directly rejecting them because he secretly finds their antics amusing.

Examples of how it goes (in my head, do let me know if you’re not fond of headcanons): 

MC, tucking a curly lock of hair behind their ear: You know, I’m supposed to go to the supermarket by myself tonight.

Auren: I see. 

MC: Having some company would be lovely.

Auren: I’d rather not. 

MC, looking at him with puppy-dog eyes: But, I’d feel much safer if someone who could do magic went with me… someone like you.

Auren: Seeing as you’re also capable of Aether manipulation, I believe you’ll be fine.

MC, trying to reach something from a high shelf and looking at him over their shoulder: Damn it! Would you be so kind as to get this book for me, Auren?

Auren: You’re merely 10 centimeters shorter than me, *surely* you can reach it.

MC, in booty shorts and a crop top: How do I look, Auren?

Auren: Like you’ll get cold.

MC, smiling seductively and running a finger over his arm: Oh yeah? And how do you suggest that I keep myself warm?

Auren, straight-faced: By wearing a jacket.

MC licks their ice cream slowly (is there even ice cream in Shattered Earth?) while making eye contact with him. Auren faintly smiles. MC grins, thinking that he’s finally showing interest in them. He points at the drips on their pants and they rush to clean them, leaving him chuckling to himself.

The crew are jumping into some ruins, hoping that the snow cushions their fall. They topple down and Auren lands on MC.

MC, flushed: Well, hello there. Being underneath you sure feels nice, though make no mistake, I wouldn’t have minded if I landed on top either.

Auren, raising an eyebrow: You don’t seem hurt, so let’s keep moving.

I’ll stop now haha. I just love that MC’s social skills got affected by the years that they spent alone. Of course they’re going to be awkward and have the subtlety of a hurricane! I also think it’s cool that everyone is hiding something, whether it’s a part of themselves or a piece of their past. It keeps me curious and excited for what’s to come. And I have never played a game where replaying adds additional dialogues before, so I’m looking forward to that as well.

I have just started your game and it’s really fun! Your writing style is beautiful, I love how melancholic some of the descriptions are. I’m trying to get to know the LIs, but it’s hard because Auren is so lovely haha. Do I just my keep my poor MC single and hope that he’ll notice them someday?

Hello! Would it be all right if I report bugs? My MC and the entity are nonbinary, yet they were referred to as she/he sometimes and Avett called my MC “princess” multiple times. I hope you can look into that, thank you

Hi! If it's possible, could you copy and paste a section where you encountered incorrect pronouns? Avett will also call the MC "princess" regardless of their gender/appearance. It's not signposted well, because the passage that referred to it got cut when I was initially moving from choicescript to twine

just wanted to drop a quick ask that it is the first time i've EVER seen the last name i usually use for my mc (wang) in an if's presets........ out of the dozens (probably more) i have never seen that so. neat

Which is so weird because I'm married to a human golden retriever. People person while I can barely stand being in a bar with friends let alone a group of people I don't know.

ive fixed a pretty major bug.

completing the demo should now allow you to loop back to the start with all the consequences that should entail for your MC (hint hint time loop shenanigans, remembering your past life, the likes, etc.), which was pretty much the whole point of the game to start with.

Are any of the ro's male leaning or are they just female leaning, and if you pursue them as a guy are they just, less interested? Like there will be less flavour text for male mcs with them? Will you be actively missing out if you dont play a female mc?

rn only Liam has planned flavor text for romancing him as a male, but i do plan to add text for other genders, depending on the scene. if you play your cards right, the ROs will be just as interested in you, regardless of gender and preference!! above all, they value personality and being respected / challenged appropriately...

Well I was going to go for Avett but uhhhh I think…I think my mind has been changed.

Idk both him and Entity are the usual type I go for in IFs 😭 idk what it is about the prickly standoffish or possessively infatuated ROs.

I actually stayed up until 3AM trying to figure out why I preferred prickly ROs, and it's probably because Avett is a charismatic flirt otherwise. You (and the other members of the Seeker) are his exception, but you especially!! Because you're his partner on the field, and he's gonna end up learning so much more about you than he's comfortable with, and vice versa (if you choose to engage with him, that is 😗) The Entity is possessive of you because the moment you got out of that homestead to meet the Seekers was the moment they pretty much lost you. They are terrified of losing you! And they will do/have done terrible things to keep you in check. Taking control over your body while killing the dragon in the prologue was probably just the beginning...

What are the ROs love languages?

Sorry I took so long to answer, because I had no idea what love languages were until I asked a friend lol

Avett: Loves touching, kissing, skinship, etc. It'll be interesting to see him go from prickly and slightly standoffish to clingy bastard.

Yuda: Is definitely more of the gifting type. She likes trying to intuit what people might like so she can surprise them, which has had... various degrees of success.

Ysh'vanna: Is also the gifting type. She gets nervous about getting the right kind of gift, though.

Liam: Liam prefers to show his love through service! Basically any housework, chores that you need to do--he'll do them for you. He'll even kiss you on the forehead when you're sick in bed. He's literally housewife material...

Entity: Similar to Avett: they like kissing, hugging, holding you, but in a possessive way. They will rain affirmations of love upon you that will follow terrifying acts of cruelty. When lovers say, "You're mine," they mean that you're theirs to love; the Entity prefers another meaning. You're literally theirs.
