That’s…interesting, about Craig Anton. He’s one of the connections she made (and has maintained surprisingly) from back when she was dating Brendon Small. He, Brendon and Ron Lynch used to host The Tomorrow Show in LA every Saturday at the Steve Allen. I remember one of her old journal entries mentioned being asked onstage during an improv comedy show to help with something. This was during the Brendon/LA era so I’d always assumed the show was TTS with them

Welcome to a very dead fandom, my friend! It's wild that people are still stumbling across EA these days.

The Treasure Hunt (the Quest for the Spoon of the Royals) launched in 2017 with the release of The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls eBook. It was meant to be an interactive treasure hunt for the fandom, similar-but-not-similar to the Enchant Puzzle. No one ever solved it. You can still try, but it's unknown if the prizes are still available.

Some of the songs that were hidden in the treasure hunt were teasers for the The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls: Behind the Musical album, though no one knew it at the time.

Asylum nostalgia is hard to shake, my friends. That's why this blog still exists. That's why I still google the name "Emilie Autumn" once every other month to see if she's risen from the dead (or if someone's listed a rare piece of merch).

I don't usually find much these days except random changes to her instagram, but I do keep stumbling across retired inmates writing retrospectives. My favorite is still the hobbydrama series, but I recently found this substack. It's worth a read if you want a hit of nostalgia, and it seems like the creator is going to write more.

Another unearthed gem: a radio drama based on TAFWVG. Someone on one of the discords posted it. I haven't listened to it the whole way through, but it's cool! (Please assume that all trigger warnings that would go with TAFWVG also apply here.)

There's also a 4-and-a-half hour review of Opheliac (the album) that popped up on YouTube. It's immaculately time-stamped, thank God.

Anyone else find anything interesting? Or are we all dead?

This could be a mistake or it could be on purpose, but EA's followers are visible again, and she's only following one person: Craig Anton. You might recognize him as the Dad from Phil of the Future. But he was also in the FLAG video. How did I not make this connection until now?

First, I want to say thank you for all your hard work and dedication to putting this site together—so much thought, time, and energy! I became a casual EA fan starting around 2010, but did not keep up with her or her fanbase so I learned a lot from your blog. This is maybe more of a personal question, but reading through a lot of this really made me continue to miss ye olde internet days, and I was wondering if you think there are or could be community spaces like the EA forum(s) again?

I don't think we'll ever have anything like the forum again. That phase of the internet is looong dead, sadly. And unless EA makes a comeback, I doubt we'll ever have any super-active fanspaces again. Unofficial spaces are ghost towns and more and more disappears every day.

If TAFWVG had a movie, what do you think the cast would look like?

This is the best I got off the top of my head:

EA plays herself and Emily with a Y (Obviously)

Robert Pattinson as Dr. Stockill - Mostly from his portrayal as Bruce Wayne in the Batman, he has this brooding portrayal as well as this young, but rugged and disheveled look that I feel would work for the character.

Johnny Depp as Sir Edward - He has played as many British and/or swauve characters, plus he's done some voice acting, so I think he'd be perfect.

Either Anya Taylor-Joy or Jenna Ortega as the Captain - Both played strong independent heroines in the past.

I'm not sure about Veronica, maybe Megan Fox?
