Apparently this guy was at his mother in law’s house and they were all going through photo albums and he sees he photobombed his wife 11 years before they even met. I fucking love this.
“When someone dies, you don’t get over it by forgetting; you get over it by remembering, and you are aware that no person is ever truly lost or gone once they have been in our life and loved us, as we have loved them.”
This is a painting that I did for a group gallery exhibit last October. Everyone visited a historic cemetery in town and we created art based on something we experienced there.
I was really taken with a gravesite marked with a life-like marble statue of a young boy with the inscription, “Papa’s Little Man and Mamma’s Baby”. As a mother, the monument moved me enough to look into his story. A young boy was buried there, and his parent, who did not survive him much longer, were buried on either side of him. The father was not in the military, so I am guessing that the boy is wearing the WW1 uniform because he must have liked to play soldier like boys often do….
Time gradually shrouds everyone buried in the darkness of obscurity, but something at this gravesite seemed to me to shine through those dark veils of time with the love that that family shared.
