I have mixed feelings about the last of us 2x1 so I’m gonna talk through them here

Things I liked:

• Bella Ramsey’s performance, the chemistry they have with every character is so interesting, especially Tommy and Dina

• Larger focus on the infected, season 1 was very story oriented but lacked the kind of combat action that I personally enjoyed in the games.

• The soundtrack, I’m a sucker for Nirvana

Things I didn’t like:

• The Fireflies, specifically their acting in the opening scene, it felt very forced and some of the casting is odd to me (I’m waiting for more of Kaitlyn Dever before I judge Abby too harshly)

• Joel and Ellie’s new dynamic, it felt like it was pandering to the fandom too much, their relationship in the games is implied and it’s up to the player to interpret how close they are but in the show Joel explicitly states that he is Ellie’s father.

I think my love for the games makes it more difficult for me to enjoy the show as it is but I’m willing to give it a chance before deciding whether I like it or not.
