Normally, Keith wouldn’t give anyone the time of day if they were the kind of person that would pick up hitchhikers. He knew about stranger danger, thank you very much, and he knew that those kind of people were predisposed to being serial killers.

But today didn’t seem to be normal, and for once, the universe seemed to be apologizing for all its wrongs. Even if he ended up being murdered, he would probably still need to thank someone, because leaning over the center console and fixing him with a silver gaze, was an all too familiar face. One that Keith had committed to memory if only because he was certain that was exactly what the dictionary meant by the word ‘perfect.’

One, that Keith had just jacked off to that morning. Twice.

Mod commentary: An oldie, but an absolute goldie feat. model Shiro, and the age old question, what happens when the man of your wet dreams comes to your rescue AND invites you on a date? Well a certain thirsty individual by the name of Keith is about to find out...

Matt Holt finally has a chance at true love. Her name is Allura, and all he has to do is keep his phone from dying before he gets a chance to ask her out. Unfortunately, his phone charger is in the room where his roommate is getting busy with a one-night stand. It only gets worse when his roommate - Shiro, certified shameless slut - catches a case of feelings for said one-night stand. Now Matt has to save both of their love lives while trying to forget the time that he totally walked in on them naked.

Mod commentary: Hats off to Matt fucking Holt accidental Wingman of the Year. When his quest for love results in him crashing Shiro’s bedroom adventures with his not so one night stand, what results is a hilarious outsider POV fic that had me screaming internally as I reread it again and again on a very long plane trip!

“I got you,” Shiro says around a grunt and brings a hand up to hold Keith’s throat, slipping it high enough on his jaw he can trace a thumb beneath Keith’s bottom lip, push the pad of his finger into Keith’s mouth and feel him moan around it. “I gotcha, baby…” he murmurs again – to soothe Keith, yes, but maybe mostly to reassure himself.

Shiro has him now.

Mod commentary: A good old-fashioned Porn with Feelings feat. Shiro and Keith’s first time. Shiro’s emotions in this story were so well done, and the way his feelings were intertwined with their actions was absolutely gorgeous, and by the very end, I actually felt as at peace as the two of them were in each other’s arms.

Shiro’s life is kind of a mess. His job sucks and his best friends are moving across the country back to their hometown. All he really has is Star Trek until the Big Bang pairs him with an artist that just might change everything.

“Do you remember that event I told you about?” His voice came out barely above a whisper.

Laughing again, Matt sat his sandwich down. “You mean your totally-not-porn writing competition?”

Shiro groaned. “It's not porn,” he hissed out quietly, “and it's not a competition, it's just an event.” He said, looking up into Matt's judgmental eyes. “Look, you own 6 replica anime swords. It's literally illegal for you to judge me for anything, ” he pointed an accusing finger at Matt's chest.

Matt held up his hands in mock surrender. “Ok, ok. So what about your event thing?”

Shiro looked back down at his phone with an awed smile. “I got paired with my favorite artist…” He answered wistfully.

Mod commentary: As anyone who has ever participated in a Fandom Big Bang event knows, deadlines and wordcounts coupled with daily life are absolute hell, which is why we absolutely adore making our beloved characters go through the same sweet pain. I legit laughed out loud many times at the Discord interactions, and cheered on Shiro’s behalf when Keith gifted him with his WIPs. Even if you’ve never participated in a Big Bang before, this fic is an absolutely charming portrayal of fandom, warts and all.

A Nest for Two, rated G, 1.1K by Neyasochi (@neyasochi)

Keith sets out to build a nest.

Mod commentary: Sheith are no strangers to AUs, but this sweet fic, based off of Yui’s bird AU, is an absolute must! Short and sweet, the details of Raven Keith’s behaviour were so real that I swore that I could hear the cooing of pigeons and the traffic lights as he explored the city creating the perfect nest. If you need a pick-me-up, this is it!

Keith gets the dog of his dreams. Shiro meets the boy of his. It goes (less than) amazing.

He could leave. He could disappear and then meet Keith by chance on the street, start over—and leave Keith dogless and heartbroken in the interim. Or, he could come clean and hope for the best.

Both options, he realizes, smiling bleakly at his warped reflection on the back of the peanut butter spoon, are abysmal.

Mod commentary: I was hooked from the second I read the blurb, and I ended up laughing so hard I nearly choked on my lunch. No regrets though, this fic was an absolute delight, and the character interactions between Keith and Shiro were just *chef’s kiss*

Keith deserves his full attention, deserves the maximum possible amount of care and preparation and devotion and time. Because he’s always been beautiful, and Shiro has always loved him in one way or another — loved him just as much beforehe came back broader and more grizzled, because Keith could look like Bii-Boh-Bi and Shiro would still love him — but this, this new Keith who’s both achingly familiar and noticeably different, he deserves to know just how much he affects Shiro.

Or, Shiro makes a point and Keith makes a lot of noise.

Mod commentary: An edgeplay fic where Shiro goes down on a very enthusiastic Keith, complete with banter and flirting. Enough said.

Shiro sees it coming from a mile and drops his weight down, forcing Keith’s knees apart and wedging himself between his legs.

It takes a considerable amount of force, strength, and energy to capture Keith’s wrists but Shiro manages anyways, manages to force them down under Keith’s back and pin them. There’s space there, too much, and Shiro realizes that Keith’s arching against him now.

“Keith,” He starts, and Keith shoots him a crooked grin, and it hits Shiro like a truck that this is how he wants Keith.

Mod commentary: Everyone’s a ho for sparring turned steamy fics, and boy oh boy does this fic deliver everything on a silver platter. The dynamic between Shiro and Keith is absolutely stellar here, and I would gladly read this fic over and over again.

Mod commentary: A very sweet get-together fic in the aftermath of Season 7, where our boys finally talk about their feelings and decide to stop wasting time. Featuring the legendary line “ You’re an idiot if you think I don’t still want you to crush me into space dust in this body. “

Wild Card Monday (7/?): Hidden Gems

Mod Kosmo’s Recs:

In the Lonely Universe, rated T, 4K by stardropdream (@stardropdream)

There’s no easy way, Keith realizes, to admit to your boyfriend that it isn’t that you’re afraid of him leaving you, but that the universe will somehow conspire to tear him away again, or that you’ll do something to ruin your own happiness. That, no matter what you do, you’ll never be good enough to protect him fully, no matter how hard you try.

Keith has his insecurities about his and Shiro's relationship. Despite his best efforts, he can't stop thinking about them.

Mod commentary: A gorgeous character study of Keith in the early days of his relationship with Shiro post s7. What really hit home for me, was the way the author absolutely nails the insecurities of being in a new relationship, and the ways in which it can affect said relationship. Not only is it a fantastic exploration of Keith and Shiro, it is also a tremendous exploration of how it feels to be in a relationship in a way that is so heartachingly (in all the best ways) real.

It all feels so familiar.

Yet everything has changed. Keith’s universe before Voltron had been only the desert he’d known as a child, the cool dark of a flight simulator, and Shiro.

Now, the newer cadets’ innocent curiosity seems to bore into his skull wherever he goes. The Paladins all stand out, but Keith more so than the others. Though the rumors buzz quietly, everyone seems to know that the Black Paladin was a former Garrison dropout. And the unwanted attention always makes him feel a little on guard.

But the center of his universe remains steadfast; Shiro is the fixed point amid all the swirling stars. So when anything does affect his mentor, Keith senses it acutely. Surrounded by familiar sights and smells, absences become a presence one can feel. And Keith knows there must be one absence in particular that is following Shiro through these halls.

Mod commentary: Containing one of the most beautiful and breathtaking confessions I have had the pleasure of reading, this fic is also a perfect window into what life must be like for the new Captain of the Atlas from Keith’s perspective. Short and sweet, and interjected with Keith’s own thoughts in between, this fic is a perfect calming cup of hot beverage after a hectic day.

Shiro and Keith think they're subtle. Iverson begs to differ.

Mod commentary: I absolutely adore Outsider POV fics, and any fic with a POV from Iverson already has a massive thumbs up from me. An AU where Shiro, the Golden Boy of the Garrison is the TA of one Professor Iverson, and pining hard after fellow cadet Keith Kogane, this fic really encapsulates everything that I love about new relationships, seeing someone you care about slowly fall in love, and the mentor mentee relationship between Shiro and Iverson truly shines in their scenes together. Plus the hilarity of Shiro trying and failing to hide his admiration for Keith is absolute gold.

Mod commentary: gosh, just an incredibly wonderful character and relationship study and a moving piece of writing. written post s6, you can tell the author put a lot of thought into shiro and keith’s backstory and what they mean to one another—though since this is from keith’s pov it’s focalized on what shiro means to him. I've read this one multiple times and I always arrive at the end feeling so many things.

where the paladins are roped into making flower crowns by the circumstances. It doesn't go like any of them had planned, not that any of them had planned to make flower crowns in the first place.

Mod commentary: FLOWER CROWNS!!!! that’s the hook that got me to read because I love flower crowns,  but the author did a beautiful job weaving together flower meanings, character relationships, and interpersonal conflicts. a really sweet and heartwarming fic.

Mod commentary: honorary holt shiro is the best and this delivers in a big way. sam and colleen’s relationship, in particular, feels so real and lovingly written and I could NOT STOP SMILING the entire time I read this. I love it.

Mod commentary: alfjdlsdjf I could not stop laughing and smiling when I read this. I also just adore established relationship fics. this delivered in a big way and I don’t want to spoil what Keith’s halloween costume is but it’s INCREDIBLE. the perfect mood lift of a fic

Mod commentary: oblivious lance not realizing Keith and shiro are dating may be one of my favorite pairing tropes. instead, lance thinks they’re fighting and his the entire internal monologue in this fic is utterly hilarious. also featuring: the best author handle I've ever seen.

There’s a flash of red at the peripheral of Shiro’s vision. Brief, but striking.

A sign worth waiting for, is his first thought.

Mod commentary: will I ever be tired of post s7 hospital pics? no. no I will not. especially when they’re written with as much intimacy and delicacy as this one. just a wonderful and in character fic of Keith and shiro navigating the new realities of their relationship and how they fit together. beautiful.

Wild Card Monday (5/?): AUs

We LOVE AU’s so we’ll be doing this theme for recs again in the future. and without further ado:

Shiro looks at the log. The communication is definitely from Earth, and the system has traced it to somewhere in the United States. Another moment and it narrows the location to California.

That gets a raise of eyebrows. Shiro looks back to the communications interface. “This is Kuiper 2329, active manned space station.” And because he has manners, even on his own in space, he adds, “may I know who’s speaking?”

“Holy shit.” The disbelief and awe in the guy’s voice is clear, and it makes Shiro bite down on a smile. “I am -- wow, I didn’t actually expect -- I mean, uh. Hi. This is, uh. This is Keith, from -- from Marmora Tech, and I’m not… a space station.”

In which Shiro is an astronaut manning the Kuiper 2329 Station, who receives an out-of-the-blue transmission from a student named Keith.

Mod commentary: I am a sucker for meet-cutes, and even moreso for space, and this fic is a perfect combination of the two! The fact that they meet because Keith did something stupid in college is something that I can relate to, and if you want a pick-me-up and a smile, I would definitely recommend this!

Mod commentary: I know that this could be cheating since I’ve already recced the first fic in this series, but the sequel is a story that never ever fails to bring a smile to my face. The character relationships are an absolute stand-out, and even if you’ve never seen Bleach before, you will end up loving the world as much as I do once you have finished reading it.

Mod commentary: Another fic that is part of a series, I decided to rec this because of all the sheer atmosphere of this fic. You really do get a sense of Shiro and Keith’s life together here, from the morning routines and the way they just fit together.

in which college maths professor Shiro takes a break from teaching after an accident that almost lost him an arm, but in order to keep himself occupied accepts to supervise the maths class for the local community college. He doesn’t expect to find in between his new students Keith, one of the uni’s janitors (incidentally, the one he might have been crushing on for a while, to his TA’s amusement). Then it turns out the guy isn’t just good at maths - he’s actually beyond gifted. Shiro might be over in his head here.

(Or: the sort-of-Will-Hunting-inspired AU you probably didn’t know you wanted.)

Mod Commentary: this is definitely an au I didn’t know I needed but god do I love this fic. it works so well as a good will hunting au while also staying true to shiro and keith’s dynamic. also featuring ADORABLE background hance, which is another favorite ship for me. also you can tell the author really did their research, but it’s so seamlessly integrated into the fic and story. just...so fucking good.

It's nothing short of a miracle to Shiro too. When Keith had first changed course unexpectedly, he had been concerned. They were already battling against time to get back to Earth. The last thing he could have ever expected was a gut-wrenching sense of deja vu as Black tenderly collected up a tiny, dying Altean ship, floating in the vacuum of space.

Not all the clones perish. A sole survivor threatens to tip the balance of Voltron.

Mod Commentary: I'm sure Keith would agree with me, but...what could be better than more Shiro???? in all seriousness, I love this concept and this fic. both shiro and ryou feel like their own characters, and true to where shiro was at those points in his life. also...the pining...is so delicious. a+ content. 

you snap the whip, rated t, WIP that’s currently 14k by tootsonnewts ( @tootsonnewts)

The Lions. As in, the Altean Lions. As in, the Galaxy Garrison’s number one rival. Yeah, their rivalry is sort of legendary in the local roller derby circuits, but nothing’s happened lately to make it flare up. Hell, their teams haven’t even seen each other yet. What about the Lions is so different now?

or, keith is a jammer for the Galaxy Garrison roller derby team. When their top rival recruits a new blocker, his world gets flip-turned upside down.

Mod Commentary: i...am so weak for incredibly specific au’s (see...the good will hunting au I just recced) and this one is a blast to read from start to finish. sharp dialogue, great characterization and team dynamics, keith and pidge friendship...incredible. this made me want to go out and join a roller derby team and I am the opposite of coordinated. check it out!

NSFWednesday = Thirsty Thursday (4/?)

Halloween was on a Wednesday this year so this week’s nsfwednesday is a thirsty thirsty. we hope you’ll forgive us ; )

Mod Kosmo’s Recs:

Keith gets the upper hand on Shiro. He has to get a hand on himself.

Only then does Keith realize how close he and Shiro are, with their faces mere inches apart where Keith hovers above him. Like this, Keith can see the way that Shiro’s lashes rest inky black against his cheeks, flushed scarlet from exertion. Can see the way that Shiro’s few freckles scatter across the bridge of his nose. Can feel Shiro’s pulse hammering beneath his thumbs, and the rise and fall of Shiro’s chest beneath where Keith is straddled across the broad expanse of it, legs spread impossibly wide.

Mod commentary: I’m always a sucker for post-sparring fics, and this one definitely hit the spot with some solo Keith action, as he works through his frustration after a particularly intense sparring match with Shiro. Add in some pining and fantasising on top of that, and you have a scorcher of a fic!

The Stars Between His Teeth, rated M, 8.8K WC by Inky (@weavelle) 

All he sees is Keith. Keith, who believes not only in himself, but in Shiro. Keith, who is hopelessly, irrevocably devoted to him. Keith, whose emotions are the edge of his blade rather than his downfall. Keith, who would rather fall into the end of the universe with Shiro than go on living without him.

He smiles and it is beautiful and clean and perfect, like he holds the stars between his teeth.

Mod commentary: A gorgeous season 7 divergent fic that examines what would have happened if Shiro had stayed with Keith throughout the trip on the Black Lion, and retained his bond. On top of delivering all of the feelings and pining, it also offers a fantastic character study of Shiro as he comes to terms with his feelings for Keith, resulting in one helluva story.

Keith is the mysterious cool new guy in the office. He drives a motorcycle, goes out for lunch with a beautiful woman, and gets all his work done. He also wears a wedding ring, but that doesn't seem to stop him from cozying up with his boss, Shiro.

Lance, Pidge, and Hunk make it their business.

Mod commentary: SECRET RELATIONSHIP! SECRET RELATIONSHIP! SECRET RELATIONSHIP! I absolutely adore outsider POV fics, and this one knocks it out of the park with insight from Hank, Lance, and Pidge as they try and decipher the relationship between their newest hire and their very very married supervisor.

Mod Krolia’s Recs: 

Heartbreak Prevention for Dummies by ailurea 

Shiro loves Keith as a brother.

Keith loves Shiro as more than that.

But if there’s one thing Keith knows, it’s that having hope for something that can never happen is a recipe for heartbreak.

He and Shiro are just platonic friends who platonically sleep together. If that’s enough for Shiro, then that’s enough for him.

Mod commentary: OH MY GOD. this is so hilarious but also sweet and I just...I really don’t want to spoil any of it but reading this will guaranteed make your day better.

Mod commentary: It’s a Keith birthday fic, and what better way to celebrate it than with his loving doting husband? Or that’s what he thinks until said husband proclaims to have never met him, and asks him out on a first date instead. An absolutely adorable spin on the first date trope!

“So, have you two settled on a date yet?” Allura asks.

Coran nods, twirling one end of his mustache thoughtfully. “It’ll have to be when we can get all of the diplomats out here. It’ll be hard to arrange, but I’m sure they’ll make time for the leader of Voltron and the Captain of the Atlas. It’ll be the wedding of the, what’s the word you use on Earth, the century?”

Keith bumps his shoulder against Shiro’s, squeezes his hand and—

”It’s now. The wedding’s right now.”

“What?” everyone choruses.

Wow, Keith thinks, they sound a lot louder in the silence of the desert.

Mod commentary: okay, wow, this tam lin inspired au is just, so so beautiful and moving and sweet. and also...damn I want more. a really deftly woven re-telling full of magic, intrigue, and, of course, romance.

Keith’s nearly right, Shiro could use the nap, but instead he chides, “Don’t start something you can’t finish, Kogane.”

Mod commentary: If you were a sucker for their hoverbike races in Season 7 like I was, you will absolutely love this! Their dynamic is playful and loving at once, and their intimacy really shines during their race and in the...post-race activities afterwards.

keith stumbles upon an ancient spellbook at a flea market. things go magnificently sideways from there.

Mod commentary: hot demon fun and also ridiculously soft somehow. plus the ending killed me in the best way. I love the way this author writes the characters, especially hunk, lance, and pidge. really great ensemble cast in this one and the sheith is 🔥

“Well, yeah, who wouldn’t like you?” Keith mutters, as if it wasn’t meant for Shiro to hear. It seems it really wasn’t, from the way Keith’s face suddenly heats up. “I mean – never mind. Hey,” he rests his hand on the wolf’s head, “just let go of the arm.”

And instead of him simply letting the arm fall from his mouth and onto the bed, the wolf gets off the bed entirely and shoves the arm into Keith’s hands instead. Then he’s gone.

“How is it? Not broken from being his chew toy, I hope?” Shiro jokes.

“It’s covered in dog spit.”

Or, Kosmo thinks fetch is about bringing Keith what he loves. He ends up bringing him to Shiro.

Mod commentary: I am a sucker for Kosmo in fics, and matchmaking Kosmo is the best! If you need another incentive to read this, the good boy finally fetched! He fetched!

She expects a juicy story. Maybe a confession in the middle of battle. Maybe Kogane proclaiming his eternal love over Shirogane’s lifeless body. Something big and dramatic for sure, befitting the Garrison’s power couple.

Instead, Lance sputters and falls out of his chair, Pidge's eyebrows shoot up so high they almost leave her face entirely, and Hunk's jaw drops so far down Nadia is concerned it’s genuinely become unhinged.

Or, the one where everybody finally figures out Keith and Shiro are dating.

Mod commentary: It’s the old classic “everybody discovers Keith and Shiro are in a relationship” in one of its finest forms, with amazing character and relationship studies interwoven throughout!

Because if he admitted it was anything else, that it was anything more, he might not be able to keep going. To keep living and talking and breathing the same air as Shiro, his rock, his best friend, his world. Whom he now, unequivocally, knew that he was in love with.

He’d go mad.

Mod commentary: hnnnnnnn one of my favorite wips/currently updating fics at the moment. I am a huge sucker for canon adjacent fics and this explores the moments in between so well and also HILARIOUSLY. the perfect balance of humor and heart.

Mod commentary: Phew, I don’t even know how to describe this fic, let alone provide commentary for it; it blew my mind that much! Basically, Keith convinces Shiro to be a little more selfish in their sex life, and the results that occur as a result blow their minds. In both a metaphorical and potentially physical sense.

Getting with Shiro is worth anything. Anything. So Keith is going to fake being the cliche with daddy issues - complete with stuffed animals, booty shorts, and an utter loss of dignity - until he makes it. Hopefully along the way he'll figure out why it feels like being Shiro's baby boy might just be the best thing that’s ever happened to him.

Keith has a moment where he wonders, somewhat blankly, how he bought this perfectly serviceable shirt and then promptly forgot its existence. Then he looks down. And remembers in a series of post traumatic flashbacks exactly why he’d blocked the shirt from his consciousness.

Namely, three words, in a font that isn’t comic sans but comes insultingly close to it, garnished with red glitter: Daddy’s Little Boy.

“Keith?” Very slowly, he turns to look at the closed door to his bedroom. “Keith, are you okay? I heard…” Probably some kind of vaguely strangled noise. But Shiro’s too nice to articulate that kind of thing. “Keith? If you don’t answer, I’m coming in.”

Mod commentary: If there’s ever been a perfect rom com in the making, it would be this fic, feat. everything you love: roommates, wing-people with various degrees of success, (mutual) pining, and a whole lotta shenanigans.

Mod commentary: aHHHHHHHh. I love this fic so much. it flows so well and the premise—keith helping shiro deal with phantom limb pain lends itself beautifully to emotional and, ahem, physical intimacy.

Ruffle your feathers, rated T, 3.5K by seasoda ( @seasodas )

A mission gone awry ends with Shiro as the pseudo-mother to a flock of alien ducklings. Fortunately, he’s ready for parenthood. Unfortunately, Keith is not.

Shiro looks around before he carefully sets the ducklings down. They peer up at him like little soldiers awaiting orders. “I — Just watch,” he says, a little helpless.

He stands back and abruptly turns away from everyone, and then takes several steps in the opposite direction. Almost immediately, the ducklings form a neat line and march right up to him, their little flippers scrabbling against the ice for purchase. They peer up at Shiro once more, peeping.

“No,” Keith says, his face draining all color.

Pidge adjusts her glasses. “Just like I guessed," she says, unsurprised. "They’ve imprinted on him.”

Mod commentary: While there has only been one chapter so far, this fic is already a gold mine of hilarity, based upon the premise of Shiro accidentally adopting nine baby alien ducklings. Feat. Allura and Coran not knowing what human babies look like, discussions about the positives of a rebel base on an ice planet, and just some sweet Shiro and Keith loving.

space madness, rated T, 757 by yououui

They’re still stuck. Together, but alone. Stranded in the middle of space. How long have they been there? How much longer will they last? Keith has failed them. He was right; he couldn’t be the leader they all wanted him to be. The leader they needed. He tried. He should have known it was doomed from the beginning. If Shiro were here though… Shiro would have been able to help them. Now, they’re going to die, alone in space. And all Keith can do is dream about seeing Shiro again.

Mod commentary: Based off of this gorgeous drawing by @v-0-3, this fic is a what-if of the space madness episode; what if there were other more personal hallucinations experienced by a certain Paladin of Voltron?

The robot explodes. The lions fall. Shiro struggles with leadership in the face of personal attachment. And when his decisions have terrible repercussions for Keith, he is forced to contend with his own guilt and grief.

Luckily, someone once reminded Keith not to give up on himself.

Mod commentary: A gorgeous character study of Shiro in the events of the battle against the Galra Armada and the new mecha, revolving around his new role in the Garrison and his own feelings for Keith.

It took a while for Keith to identify the feeling that rushed through his chest every time he saw Shiro: when Shiro caught his eye from the opposite end of the mess hall, when Keith saw him smiling in groups of other junior officers, when any of the cadets spoke Shiro’s name with a reverence that proved they didn’t know anything beyond the poster boy’s glowing reputation.

Happiness.

If this was what friendship felt like, Keith was finally starting to understand why everyone made such a big deal out of it.

Allura carries Shiro's consciousness within herself while she transfers it from the Black Lion into his body. She feels some residual effects.

Mod Commentary: a great concept and hilariously executed, this is such a fun fic that feels like a breath of fresh air. packed with great details and a lot of wit. I'm still laughing.

He remembers the weave of the shirt his father had been wearing, sometimes wonders that it’s not pressed into his fingers even now, what with how hard he’d been clutching at it before Kolivan had brusquely coaxed him away.

“If there had not been a rebel trailing the scout, things on Earth would be very different,” Keith says, voice distant. “But there was. Nothing was transmitted back to the main fleet.”

Mod commentary: *BANGS POTS AND PANS* BLADE OF MARMORA KEITH!!! BLADE OF MARMORA KEITH!!!!!!!! ahem. Okay. this is a wonderfully written fic of one of my personal favorite au concepts and it wisely chooses to focus on the pre-canon build of shiro and Keith’s relationship. so so good.

Keith taps the tablet awake—it’s around 1:24 AM—and shuffles between tabs of Monsters and Mana and news stories to bring up a new text from Shiro. ‘Hey Keith,’ it read. ‘Let me know if you’re awake. I’m having a late night.’

Mod commentary: Another fic feat. Shiro’s new arm! What starts as a way to keep Keith company in hospital takes a completely different turn when they decide to test its capabilities with the help of video chat.

Shiro vaguely hears groans and muffled laughs from the room and remembers this moment was definitely just filmed for television. A blush comes back to his face and Shiro hopes everyone will think it’s because of the heat of the kitchen and not because he’s got the hots for another contestant.

Shiro pales. “Keith!” he splutters out before he can help it. Because he was pretty sure this was Keith The Brother. Because Shiro has only heard that name in tandem with Romelle’s for the past two weeks and- “Uh, hi- I, uhhh-”

Shiro learns that Keith’s glare can sharpen even more. “You know my name?” Keith grits out, stepping forward, making Shiro step back. Shiro’s back hits the lockers and he helplessly stares as Keith crosses his arms across his chest and raises one perfect eyebrow. Shiro doesn’t mean to eye him up and down and back up again, but he does anyway, despite himself.

‘Sven, you traitor.’ Shiro thinks. ‘You could’ve warned me the brother was hot.’

In which Keith and Romelle are siblings, Shiro and Sven are cousins, and everything changes when Sven sees Romelle and falls head-over-heels in love.

mod commentary: this is just...hilarious bliss. romelle and Keith as siblings is everything I never knew I needed. plus....it features the best babe, Krolia. fast paced feel good fun.

The social media world is in a stir following the announcement by Director Matthew Holt that frequent co-stars Takashi Shirogane and Keith Kogane were accidentally married 4 years ago on the set of their action rom-com Guns Blazing.

Shiro and Keith don't understand what all the fuss is about since they've been openly married for 6 years now.

Welcome to Sheith Fanfic Recs! Our mods are so amazed by the talent in this fandom and we wanted to create a platform to promote the amazing content out there. Self promotion can be tough and terrifying so we created Sheith Fanfic Recs as a way to show our love <3. Our mods have chosen to remain anonymous because we want this to be about the authors we’re reccing—not the people behind the blog.

We’ll be posting rec lists every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. 

On Monday we have our wildcard list, anything from specific au’s to tropes, to moods. Every other Monday we’ll be reccing fics that have around or under 1k hits to spread the love.

Fan-rec Fridays are for recs submitted via asks and submissions, because we’re three people and although we check the Shiro/Keith ao3 tag daily, we’re bound to miss things.

Keith listens without making a sound. He swallows the lump in his throat alongside his soup.

Shiro is his own person, a part of him wants to scream at the girls. You know Shiro belongs to him, another part of him whispers.

mod commentary: beautiful and moving character and relationship study while Shiro waits for Keith to wake up. Also featuring that Good Krolia and Shiro Bonding Content. A+ read.

It’s maybe not his best idea. He’s the leader, yeah, or he’s supposed to be, but he doesn’t always have all the answers. Not the right ones, at least. But what matters is that it’s his idea. Not anyone else’s. Not the Lion’s. Not Haggar’s. His. “I need to fight again.” Keith looks up from the panel he’s adjusting on the Black Lion’s foot, blinks, and says, “Okay.” So the plan’s going great.

mod commentary: wonderful flow, funny in places and gut wrenching in others, this is a fantastic exploration of how Shiro and Keith’s fight in the Black Paladins lingers on afterwards.
