I made a pysanka for mother’s day. My mom’s side of the family is Finnish so I made it with an iconic Marimekko design I grew up always having in the house. I’ve been wanting to do this egg idea for a while now!

This egg is only half finished but I’m excited & wanted to post the progress! I based the designs off of stained glass windows & am being very careful with the symmetry.

My little lesbian egg! I was looking for egg inspiration when I heard about violets in historical wlw courtships & thus this egg came about! Very simple, even for a tiny bantam egg (pictured next to chicken egg for scale).

New egg! The bleaching compromised the egg a bit so there's some speckling due to dye seeping through the pores, but I'm happy with it! Doing the divisions for all the circles was tricky!

A 500-year-old Easter egg was found during excavations in Lviv, the press service of the Rescue Archaeological Service of the Institute of Archaeology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine has reported.

According to the report, the pysanka (a Ukrainian ornate Easter egg) was found in a water collector dated to the 15th-16th centuries, on Shevska Street in the central part of the city at a depth of 5.5 meters.

This is the oldest Easter egg found by Lviv archaeologists to date.

"Previously, Kyivan Rus pysankas dated to the 12th-13th centuries were found in Zhydachiv, Lviv region, and Khrinnyky in Volyn region, but these were ceramic eggs. This one is made on an egg shell, most likely from a goose egg. And it is very well preserved, almost 90 percent," a junior research officer of the Rescue Archaeological Service, Ostap Lazurko, said.

Didn’t have the time to get as many eggs done as usual this Easter, but I’m hoping to get some more done this week even if it is a little late. I’m working on a tiny little Bantam chicken egg right now!
