do androids need to eat? or at least can they? asking for a totally normal and not artfight related reason at all

SQUINTING AT YOU <3 Also sorry for this complicated answer but: They don’t need to eat, and they aren’t able to for most of this story so far? I think like…. maybe like. laaaaate season 10? They finally get some kinda eating thing figured out? (Xisuma and Doc would have to rearrange a lot of how the internal systems work to make an eating system of some kind feasible for android hermits—if you remember from the old Etho Deviating comics, Androids can drink thirium to cycle it back into their systems, so I don’t imagine they’re initially designed to be able to ingest anything else) But it’s definitely doable at Some Point. So any kind of season 8-9 shenanigans with eating probably wouldn’t be ‘realistic’ or possible for the au, but like. Silly future hypothetical events could definitely featuring eating. I think. Hopefully that makes sense? LOL

Would you consider adding a character profile on your AF for all the DBHC'ers? Kind of like how some people have profiles where they link toyhouses for all other charas they have :o

I understand if not! Was just curious because I was thinking of doing an animation w/ someone not put up

I felt kind of weird uploading dbhc characters that don’t really have super unique designs compared to their normal hermitcraft counterparts, so I didn’t have any plans to put anyone more than I currently have up, but I got some input from some friends who recommend that I put a line in those characters’ profiles (etho, doc, cub, android 24) that states like, if you do a piece with them and some other dbhc guy that isn’t one of my listed characters, you’re welcome to put down one of my guys twice (i.e, if you do a piece with android 24 and xisuma, you can just put down 24 two times so you get the points for both characters).

However! If y’all think it would make sense to upload a character called “The Rest of the DBHC cast” or “DBHC Other” as a placeholder for people to use in case they draw other dbhc guys, I wouldn’t be opposed to it! I’m not super familiar with art fight norms, so i would gladly take some feedback and recommendations!

OVERVIEW

Dbhc, or the Detroit Become Hermitcraft AU, is an au that started as a joke and very quickly stopped being a joke LKFJGDG It’s called Detroit Become Hermitcraft, but not really because it has anything to do with the base game DBH– really, I only yoinked and expanded on the android mechanics and inserted them into the minecraft-based world of hermitcraft. It’s an au that starts in Hermitcraft Season 8 (ie., many of the first androids were built for the beginning of s8 in this au), meaning that the seasons prior in this au do not technically have those hermits as part of their history. The Life Series are canon to this au, but like earlier hermitcraft seasons, 3rd Life is missing all of the android hermits due to it having taken place prior to HC Season 8.

Are the ones who were damaged in moon big the only androids around then or no?

If you take a look at the timeline, all of the androids currently on hermitcraft by the time the moon crashed into hermitcraft were: Doc, [activated some time between seasons 7 and 8] Etho, Mumbo, Tango, Impulse [all activated together at the very start of the season], Wels, False, and Joe [Activated a month or so into the season], and Cub [activated towards the mid-end of the season]. So out of the 9 androids, 6 of them were damaged in some way by the end of the season—not necessarily during the moon crash (etho’s cracks came from his deviation and he shut down at least a month or so before the server crashed, and Wels is seen with that face scar well before the moon starts getting bigger), though many of them (Cub, Tango, Joe, Mumbo) did end up injured amidst their “escape”s.

Impulse and False (as of what I have planned currently anyway!) are the only two androids who manage to start Season 9 with minimal injuries (and getting away scot free even though all of their other friends sustained injuries makes them feel really normal I’m sure).
