Have you ever been jumped scared by a book?

And I’m not talking about a horror book, but a fantasy novel. Well, I sure was not expecting that, I’m not gonna say exactly what is that I saw, but it is not as scary as it may sound like, but I personally didn’t expect what I saw. I literally turned the page and the second my eyes scanned the page it I legit felt the equivalent of getting a jump scare from a fnaf game. I even had to double check what I saw, and when I realized the whole situation I had to pause my reading laughing at myself cause getting jumped scared by a book was not on 2025 bingo card 🤣

If you’re curious on what I saw, the book is the Cruel Prince, page 141.

Hey ya’ll! I’m just checking in to let you know I’m still alive!

Sorry for going MIA, just been going through some stuff, probably still will for a bit longer, but I’m alright! Haven’t drawn much, I think might be going through an art block idk, so in my self loathing I’ve been reading a lot. Don’t ask what specifically cause it all feels like a blur.

There are a few titles that I did love and would like to recommend if you haven’t read it yet, like this little series called Storm and Silence by Robert Thier. 100% recommended, there are some parts in the first book that drags a little (if you’ve read it, you know which parts I’m talking about) but after that it’s a constant roller coaster. Mr. Ambrose feels like breath of fresh air in a sea of generic male leads, he is a whole new level of tall, dark, and handsome, AND broody; and Lilly is hilariously headstrong, but in a way that is inspiring.

After going back to Wattpad to some books I’ve read a few years back (for the sake of nostalgia) I’ve come to discover that some of them have gotten MOVIE ADAPTATIONS!! LIKE, WHEN DID THAT HAPPEN?!?! I haven’t watched any of them, and I don’t really feel eager to, which is weird cause I personally love those books, I think I just don’t want the mental image that I have of them ruined by disappointment if don’t like the movie. Is this what Percy Jackson fans felt when the movie came out??

Anyway, so that’s what I’ve been up to, thank you all for coming to Ted Yap! If you have any recommendations for any books (specifically Romances in Wattpad cause I’m broke) please PLEASE share them with me in the comments, it’s getting harder to find the good stuff.

Here’s a little treat for bearing with me, that I’ve had saved up for a while (and I’m talking months, cause I don’t feel like anything I’ve made recently is good enough to share) it’s supposed to be a design for one of those dangling key chains.

Anyway, onto the drawing, this is Brick, he’s from the Horrorfell Au, this specific variation is from a story in Ao3 titled “Tangles” this drawing is just one of the multiple ones on a character sheet I’m working on (yes another one, idk how I’m working on so many characters sheets lately but I ain’t complaining lol) and it’s actually from a scene in the story. (This is just a test of colors btw, the final one in the ref sheet might look different)

Here’s that character reference sheet I was talking about in my other post. I kinda… overdid it with this one (*laughs nervously). I just did this for fun, and to practice doing reference sheets.

If you’ve read Tangles you’d know most of these are from scenes in the fic, if you haven’t read it you’re probably not going to understand the context of these, so you should probably go read it, it’s on AO3!! Moving on, the only one of these that is technically not really in the fic is the one the bottom left corner, with him working on the blanket, but I mean, I can’t be the only who pictured him working on it? Right??

Now that we are talking about the blanket, funny thing is, since English is not my first language, when I read the part about the colors of the blanket I got a little confused and first thought it just talked about just the color Sedona, so ended up making a this version of the blanket with different shades of Sedona.

After closer inspection I thought that it didn’t look “butt-ugly” so I went back to the fic to double check, and then I realized I read over the part were it mentions the others colors in the blanket (oops). I went back and fixed it then, and sure enough that color combination is “butt-ugly”! I also made another mistake, in the upper right corner, I drew a store shelf, but in the story they’re reaching out to a basket, sorry!! I’ve been working on this one for a couple of days, so I just called it done and left it like it is, anyways there’s something called artistic liberties, so guess it’ll be fine.

Also, if you’re wondering who’s the girl, since this is a character x reader kind of fic, I just based her off the typical Shoujo protagonist, you’d be surprised to see how many shoujo protagonists are short haired brunette girls. Years ago I remember realizing this and I thought that since brown hair is very common, that the authors did that because it would be easier for young girls to project onto those protagonists and Immerse themselves in the story.

About the Mechanism that helps him open and close his jaw, I’m no engineer or anything like it, I just thought it would be fun to see a design of the mechanism that could work. Realistically speaking, it probably wouldn’t work but it was fun to design it either way.

Hey Guys!

Nightmare

This is my personal head canon but, judging from what I’ve seen of him, I think Nightmare is too ‘classy’ of a man to be wearing a sweater everywhere he goes. I don’t deny he might wear it occasionally on his personal time, but I don’t think he’d wear it all the time (especially for missions).

So in my take of Nightmare, I gave him a trench coat and a turtleneck, fight me! I’ll take any excuse to draw a turtleneck, besides it looks good on him!
