Boarders being written by a black man makes sense when you see how Leah’s character is written and how ok jaheim is with being fetishised by the white girls.

i really dislike that bea and jaheim ended up together ngl. i can’t get over the “i’ve never seen a black penis before” thing AND her wanting the “ends experience”

Right?! The creators clearly wanted a feel good ending but I felt that the Boarders compromised on their integrity. Abi forgives her racist friends, Jaheim is permissive about his own fetishisation, Femi accepts the hazing culture of his rich white friends despite getting excluded for being black and them not having his best interests in mind.

Earlier in the show, Leah is written to ignore the tone-deafness of the ally girl and Abi’s initial unwelcoming/anti-black treatment of her, Omar is written to extend the olive branch to Rupert after he has assaulted and harassed Jaheim numerous times AND bullies him.

I love the show but it definitely has its flaws as a social commentary

Remember when Sky and Riven got into a fist fight in Season 1 Episode 17 because of some biting comments that Riven had said to Sky? Boy, that was wild.

Oh, yes. How could I ever forget about the infamous helix kick? Riven was truly in his peak menace era.

Omg more live posting but having gone to screen acting class makes me notice a lot more stuff about how they’re doing the scene, like in assembly they sit so close to each other so their heads aren’t too far away in the shot but their bodies are proper right up against each other it’s so funny lolol

Kay I’m watching Boarders right now and I have two observations (other than that it’s great so far) than I need to share

1. It’s impressive how much the actress who plays Abi favours Gretchen Wieners, like genuinely blows me away lol

2. Is it just me or is Omar literally Lionel from Dear White People, I’m at the party scene and I swear a scene just like this was in DWP. Also the whole secret society thing lol
