a librarian’s hoard
[ID: Digital illustration of a red dragon surrounded by their colorful hoard of books. A worn, blue scarf wraps around their neck, and a pair of gold glasses sits on their snout, held in place by a gold chain. The dragon’s lair resembles a huge, airy library with multiple levels of bookcases, tall mountains of books, and floor-to-ceiling windows revealing open sky. Decorative gold chains drape across the space. The dragon smiles as it holds a small book in its mouth, stretching to offer it to a distant human standing atop a book tower. End ID.]

sometimes fan fiction is a love letter to a piece of media.
sometimes it’s a strongly-worded demand for custody of the characters.

Quote
Really, there are books meant for daytime reading and books that can be read only at night.

Do you think listening to audiobooks count as reading?

what is with Thursdays?
I am a paralegal, which means lots of time researching and drafting and filing, lots of paper stuff, some travel to and from client meetings, court, etc. I usually work 55ish hour weeks and try to listen to an audiobook to give my brain a break when I’m doing something like filing or driving. Without fail, every week, I finish my book on Thursday. Doesn’t matter if it is a 10 hour book or a 15 hour book. I ALWAYS FINISH ON THURSDAY. But I don’t want to get another book and start on FRIDAY because I don’t want to think about the book all weekend.
I just want to finish a book on Wednesday or Friday for ONCE.

how do you wait for a book?
I have been reading the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas for the first time. I got the first and third book from the library virtually, and the second was a hard copy library book.
The next book won’t be available in any format for three weeks. The rest are available digitally at the library right now. I have other books to read. I should read the other books. I should *not* buy the fourth. I should wait for two to three weeks and get them for free. There are 14 copies and I am reader number 17. It may take less than three weeks.
Please help someone talk me out of spending money.

My favorite place in Columbus. I love to get a new read and sit next door at the coffee shop for hours reading.

Me: “I’m really not enjoying this book, but I’ll force myself another 50 pages. It might get better.”
Me, 50 pages later:

Every time I add a new book to my “books I own that I need to read” shelf on Goodreads I expect to feel some kind of shame but I just don’t..
