but the the vast majority of major governments and political parties with power globally thinks it's unsavoury to be transgender. they think its obscene to be queer in public. they think queer representation shouldn't be in children's media because it's inappropriate, despite lgbtq children existing. so you wanna butchify a fictional man? yurify or yaoify a fictional hetero ship? what's to stop the current regime - and the vast majority that came before it - from deeming that unsavoury and then charging you with a literal crime.

so then what stops them from taking it a step further and prosecuting you for drawing or writing about the omega-verse? what's to stop them from arresting a trans woman who posts educational content about the trans experience? what stops them from charging trans people for being in public as it's deemed obscene. THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE.

it starts with what sounds like obvious solutions to weirdos being in fan spaces but it's a naive and reactionary solution that we can prove is almost always weaponized against vulnerable queer and trans folks in very REAL ways.

so no, it's not puritanical to be grossed out when someone ships a fictional child with an adult or draws them in compromising manners. most normal, sane people agree that's super weird. but if you can't see how the actual impacts of suggesting legal precedence for punishing thought crimes might very quickly get out of hand and blow up in your face, there's a problem.
