the tswift bullshit may feel unbearable and unending but i need my fellow haters to remember the wise words of ursula ke le guin. the power of ms private jet pollution queen fandom seems inescapable, but so did the divine right of sherlock and the mcu. any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings. resistance and change often begin in art, and very often in our art, the art of words. commit to haterdom with all your heart and all your soul is what i'm saying.

Yes, Lily, Scars. You know: your not-so-foolproof plan to write Stockholm: Scars again with Spectrum Dash and Ascentia, just with their names changed but not their designs and this time making them adopted siblings and not blood related? Thought we wouldn't notice, did you? No, making the sibling adopted does not make this suddenly not incest. They are living in the same house being raised from a young age by the same parents. If you wanted this to be an arranged marriage story, maybe don't have one character's parents adopt their love interest as their child.
I also love that she's like, "Wait, they're not making fun of my other incest story? But I made it so obvious that that's what it is! I mean, ah, it's a subversion of incest, but it's so subversive that people would totally know--I mean think--that it's outright incest." You're right, Lily, you did make it super obvious. @saiscribbles isn't talking about it because you've got the attention span of a bug and you keep switching back and forth between these two incest stories and your Avatar incest story, so she just hasn't heard about the others yet. And because you plugged Scars in your Steven Universe video, dumbass. Not everyone constantly sniffs your Tumblr blogs.
Also, extreme enmeshment between siblings can be awesome actually?
This chick I swear to god.....

full on offense but asylums, psych wards and any other variation of mental health facilities are not and will never be an aesthetic. mental illness is not an aesthetic.
and yes, this is coming from someone who has been hospitalized several times, fully angry that a white billionaire can be her quirky silly i-need-a-lobotomy [insert a tiktok reference] self while simultaneously having access to every single health treatment in the world.
while the rest of the world struggles to have access to a diagnosis, medication or human rights pertaining mental health.
"you wouldn't last an hour in the asylum where they raised me", no, taylor. YOU wouldn't last an hour in the real world, where private jets are only ever seen on television and mental illness often means you cannot get a fucking job.

"You wouldn't last an hour in the asylum where they raised me."
Somehow I don't think this is where Taylor Swift was raised.
Asylums we centers of horrific abuse, primarily of disabled people.
They were tied or chained up.
They were experimented on.
They were sexually abused and raped.
They were beaten.
They were degraded.
They were neglected.
They were murdered.
Asylums served as a way to hide away people with disabilities from society, pretend they never existed, and leave them to die alone, afraid, and in pain. Many having little to no idea why.
The fact that Taylor Swift, an able bodied, neurotypical billionaire who has never encountered even a fraction of the oppression asylum victims did and disabled people still do, thinks this is an acceptable metaphor is nothing short of selfish, vile, out of touch ableism.
She is profiting off of the abuse and the murder of disabled people. She's making light of their abuse by comparing it to her cushy, well to do childhood.
Let's take a look at Taylor Swift's "asylum":
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Huge house. Huge yard. Detached two-car garage. In ground pool.
This is not an asylum. It's a home. She had a home. She had her family around her. That family did what they could to support her and make her successful.
That is not asylum life.
She was not experimented on by doctors who believed she was incapable of thinking or feeling. She was not left for dead because nobody could be bothered to clean and feed her when she was incapable of doing so herself. She was not denied access to society or human connection. She was not murdered for being disabled.
Might she have been abused? Sure. Abuse does not make an asylum.
This lyric is nothing short of ableist, and it demonstrates with incredible clarity that Taylor Swift only supports minorities when it makes her look good and suits her purposes. She doesn't care about actually being informed about oppression or being a good person. She'll use minorities in whatever ways she believe will rake in the most profit. She doesn't care who she hurts, as long as she adds another couple millions to her billions.
It's time to demand some real accountability.

did i just see a "you can't criticize ts for using psych ward imagery just bc she's never seen a therapist post" bc genuinely i am about to throw hands
and before anyone calls me crazy for that or stupid for not understanding metaphors, fear not, i know. FROM THAT TIME I WAS A "PSYCHO RETARD" IN THE PSYCH WARD.
like. i don't think she's somehow not allowed to talk about psych wards. but i definitely think the psych ward survivors are allowed to be angry about seeing it used like this -- insensitively, for a billionaire's profit and for an audience of millions?
"she's allowed to struggle" yeah she is. which is why she shouldn't have to co-opt another marginalized group's struggles. hope that helps.

Vent post sorry
Had a really bad nightmare. Most of my nightmares revolve around the disgusting mess that was my parents house, but finding my true identity as a zombie has allowed me slight comfort in the rotting stench of their hoarder trailer.
I don’t normally dream about the abuse my parents put me through, at least physically. If I have an abuse dream it’s usually about what happened to me at the ward. Last night was different. My father put his hands on me to choke me, but I distinctly remembered the stench of his breath.
Why the fuck do I remember that so vividly.
I threw up almost immediately after I woke up. Gods please never let me remember that smell again please please please

The only true poetry on The Tortured Poets Department is the fact that So Long, London is the saddest-sounding song on the album (I think, they’re all pretty similar tbh) but the whole story of the song is “WHY IS MY BF SO SAD ALL THE TIME LOL BYEEEEE”

okay. i debated not posting this because I was worried I’d get death threats (that says a lot doesn’t it) but it needs to be said, because its upsetting me.
a woman who publicly says she feels very sane and has “never been to therapy” and who breaks up with her boyfriend in part because he can’t just “”get over”” his depression to love her the way she wants/needs does not.
I repeat, does not.
get to use the imagery she did in her fortnight video.
I’ve been seeing gifsets and screenshots all day of her chained to a bed but ~aesthetic~ and being fed a pill after a cheeky side eye and strapped to a glamourfied ECT machine and no one has said anything about it so I will. those images are genuinely triggering for me.
people have been restrained, forcefed pills, and given electroconvulsive therapy or subjected to the electric chair for severe mental illness against their will. these are not fun props anyone gets to throw around to express that they feel depressed or in a “manic phase” or like they were “raised in an asylum.”
she doesn’t know how a real asylum fried my grandmother’s brain or real cops restrained me because I was psychotic and manic. she doesn’t know what it feels like to be dehumanised that way.
do better. demand she do better, too.
edit: I say that this content is triggering to say that it causes real harm. I do still have a responsibility to myself to curate an internet experience for myself. this does not negate her responsibility to avoid replicating harmful tropes in art which is deeply influential. she does not get to co-opt institutionalization or psychiatric violence as a romanticized aesthetic or as a metaphor because real people like myself have suffered greatly under the things she is representing as glamorous or cool. institutionalization silences and violates mentally ill people in a way that marginalizes them, and that experience should be treated with sensitivity and care rather than being commodified to reduce stigma. if she had experienced these things, I might feel differently, but other ableist content on the record and her statements on her life and art indicate otherwise. she is a woman with immense privilege and power and should not be using that privilege and power to punch down on mental illness.

There are some people who say the term "antipsychiatry" is poorly chosen because it causes people to jump to the conclusion that you oppose all forms of psychiatric treatment rather than just the dehumanization and abuse. I say it's perfect because the kind of person who forms opinions without doing research is not worth talking to about anything, least of all something as uncomfortable and denial-inducing as psychiatric abuse.
Like, imagine you hear me describe myself as "pro-choice" and you take that as an absolute statement about personal freedom. You jump into a conversation about abortion to start yelling at me about how rules and laws are necessary for society to function. That's how stupid you sound jumping to conclusions about the term "anti-psychiatry".

Healing is not about being convenient to neurotypicals.
Healing is not about becoming a more efficient worker drone for capitalism.
Healing isnt about not being "abusive"
Healing isn't about gaining access to neuronormativity privilege.
It is about reducing the amount of power your abusers and their enablers have over you.
We do not heal for the benefit of other people because those people did not fucking protect us.
Abuse is about power and control.
