Reblog if you think people going off their meds are valid.
Reblog if you think people shouldn't have to justify their decisions to anyone else.
Reblog if you support unmedicated ND people.
Reblog if you support people trying to get off their meds.
Reblog if you support giving unmedicated people hugs and cuddles and all the affection we so often don't get from the community.

why do you hate psychology /gen
The reasons are the mostly the same to why I hate psychiatry:
lack of autonomy for patients, general power imbalance between patient and provider
separation of the mind from the body
excessive focus on the individual to the point of blaming them
neglect of material/sociopolitical conditions
pathologization + stigmatization of human functioning/suffering and marginalized peoples existence (ex: turning things like gayness and an enslaved person's drive to be free into a disorder)
the subjectivity of diagnostic categories and how they're heavily biased to the view point of abled people
structurally works to control and oppress people under the guise of "helping them," works in tandem with the carceral system to insitutionalize and imprison people
relies on the belief that a provider can know a patients needs and wants better than the patient themself
the development of these practices have been founded on egregious human rights violations that continue to this day
none of these things are like a "bad apple" situation, none of it is a side effect. it's inherently built into psychiatry and psychology. it can't be reformed. similar situation to the police and criminal justice system. it requires abolishing, and any needed services it did provide need to be provided under a liberatory framework.
also if anyone is reading this and about to tack on with how their psych provider was wonderful actually blah blah blah consider: you are the exception, not the rule, and you likely have that due to some kind of privilege. you are not the focus here. be quiet, please. also that provider is still operating under an oppressive framework, and you have no idea how they've treated other clients.

Y'all ever think about how fucked up it is that you can be prescribed things like anti-depressants or anti-psychotics that can make your life infinitely worse upon taking them and the person that prescribed it is just like "Oh. Oopsie 🥰 Let's try another one"
Keep in mind, it's perfectly acceptable to mock stoners who say "Nah man, you just gotta try a different strain bro just trust" and write off what they're saying as quackery, but telling therapist bootlickers about the terrible experience you had on a specific medication is 9 times out of 10 met with "Well you should just try a different one :)"
Okay, then what happens? The same healthcare professional that prescribed me the first med is gonna do the exact same process again with another med with almost identical effects because they have it in their head what I'm like and what I need. They want me to keep nodding along to whatever brain fog shit they decide to put me on next because it looks good on their stupid fucking papers while they laugh at their new favourite test rat.
I'm so tired.

Traumatic psychology/psychiatry experience flag
[PT: Traumatic psychology/psychiatry experience flag /END PT]
A awareness flag for those who experienced trauma with psychology or psychiatry, and also those who don’t have trauma with it but bad experiences. This is in honor for people who tried to cure their neurodivergence but psychology or psychiatry harmed them in some way, people who had terrible experiences with therapy, and etc.
I decided to make this flag, because we aren’t represented and our experiences are almost always invalidated and ignored even by other neurodivergent people! We have our own right of choice to not recover or seek other ways to heal ourselves, whatever makes us more happy!
Tumblr media
[IMAGE ID: The image features a lilac and white checkered or grid pattern filling a square-shaped frame. At the center of the image, there's a white square that contains the psychology symbol. The design conveys a sense of simplicity and elegance. /END ID]
Lilac and white are typical colors of healing, it represents our internal or external alternative healing methods. Psychology symbol with an X in it shows that we’re tired, we don’t want to be in a harmful environment anymore
Please this is a coining blog, discourse isn’t allowed.

i keep seeing lots of posts bitching about “pop psychology” and all the stupid ideas it supposedly gives people about narcissism or autism or bpd or whatever and like. do you think professional, academic psychology is any better? have you ever actually read the shit they put in the DSM? cuz i promise u the dumbasses on twitter calling their annoying coworker a narcissist, while obviously not good, aren’t the ones doing the most damage to people classified as mentally ill. it’s the pseudoscientists with the legal authority to throw them in torture jail forever if they fail to perform normalcy well enough.

Having some thoughts about antishipper psychology.
Recently I've been occasionally having unpleasant dreams with incest, something that never happened before I became aware of modern fandom discourse. That's an effect it's had on my brain as someone who is secure in the moral neutrality of my thoughts, and is neither constantly worrying about nor seeking out incest content, but is being reminded of it's existence more often.
Dedicated antishippers though--I worry they're thinking about incest and pedophilia so much that they're training themselves into intrusive thoughts. For us, it's easy to say "Just avoid things you don't like" but for an antishipper, a glimpse at the bad ship threatens to make it stick in their mind as they try too hard to not think about it and find it attractive, causing guilt and fear. Then those feelings give credence to the idea that this fiction is dangerous and could turn them into a pedophile if they aren't careful, increasing the paranoia, which increases the intrusive thoughts, and it's self perpetuating.

The more I get into psychology the more it seems a lot of theories are built upon pseduologic and made by horrible people. And lot of diagnosis criteria seem rather abstract and subjective. Like what’s flamboyant? What’s deviant?  What’s extreme? Too many times things are viewed through a traditionalist, capitalistic, Western lens. I

no, because really, is a child not making eye contact with you such a crime?? is them not noticing you're there blasphemous? because at that point, it's clear the issue is that they aren't doing what YOU want, expect and are comfortable with/used to

Remember when "take your meds!" was a kind suggestion said to help people remember to take medication that was actually helpful to them and not something screamed at people who vent about "scary" disorders who aren't even on any medication, but that the person screaming it wishes they were so they wouldn't have to hear about it?
Pepperidge Farm remembers.

DARVO: Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim and Offender.
An abuser denies the abuse ever took place, attacks the person that was abused (often the victim) for attempting to hold the abuser accountable for their actions, and claims that they are actually the victim in the situation, thus reversing what may be a reality of victim and offender. It often involves not just "playing the victim" but also victim blaming.
TL;Dr: Stop pathologizing neurodivergent people and individualizing abuse, and start treating abusers and bullies as a social failing that are products of privilege.
Unless you want to insist that every bitchass who's ever plagued marginalized people has NPD.

I know this gets talked about a lot but
I don't think I would be a therian if I weren't autistic.
For the longest time, therianthropy was the only way I could understand my odd behaviors. My sensitivity to sounds and smells, my inability to understand and socialize with other people, my intense fixation on wolves/werewolves/canines in general, my weird mannerisms, I attributed ALL of it to me being a dog stuck inside of this human body. It wasn't until much later, when I learned I had autism, that everything began to make much more sense.
I do still identify as a therian, but it's....different now. I understand myself on a deeper level.
(this is okay to rb btw 🧡)
