In the Harry potter universe, couples could take polyjuice potion and swap bodies then have sex to see what it’s like from both perspectives.

Asking the D&D and Harry Potter sides of Tumblr:
I've been contemplating how to assign D&D alignments to the Houses of Hogwarts. I've gathered data from various analyses of each House and I'm basing my results on the classical definitions of the alignments. Here's what I've found:
Per the Alignments:
The Good alignment values others over self, whereas the Evil alignment values self over others.
The Lawful alignment values rules over individuals, whereas the Chaotic alignment values individuals over rules.
The Neutral alignments determine their values on a case-by-case basis.
Per the Houses:
Gryffindor embodies courage and bravery, the will to stand up for yourself and for others against all odds. A Gryffindor has firm and positive morals that drive it to break barriers and surpass limits, reaching new heights in the spirit of justice and honor.
Hufflepuff values friendship and kindness, giving unyielding encouragement to all who yearn to improve themselves. A Hufflepuff will defend its friends up to its dying breath, utterly selfless in the face of danger and unafraid of the consequences it will face to lift up its closest companions.
Ravenclaw values logic and knowledge far above everything else, the pursuit of the unknown shedding light on a mysterious and hostile world. A Ravenclaw will disregard even its own well-being in the hopes that it will attain knowledge, that it may better itself or the world around it by equipping and sharing that knowledge.
Slytherin values ambition and drive, goal-setting and purpose-driven in spite of all obstacles. A Slytherin holds tight to its own morals, never flip-flopping or wavering, steadfast, mentally strong, ridiculously determined, and will reject conformity and all that it implies, especially if it implies that it will hinder those set goals.
Based on this information, my hypothesis is as follows:
Gryffindor = Chaotic Good
Hufflepuff = Lawful Good
Ravenclaw = Chaotic Evil
Slytherin = Lawful Evil
Gryffindors value individuals over rules, and others over self. They stand up for others even by endangering themselves, and are not afraid to fight the system if they believe that system is flawed.
Hufflepuffs value others over self, and rules over individuals. They believe that rules create a stable foundation and framework for the growth and protection of their friends, who they cherish over anything else.
Ravenclaws value self over others and individuals over rules. Knowledge and logic define a Ravenclaw and they are lost without these to guide them, so they will disregard all the hindering rules and restraining morals that keep them from their pursuits.
Slytherins value rules over individuals, and self over others. A Slytherin holds tight to its personal morals, values, and rules that it sets out before itself, giving that Slytherin the ability to light its own path in the dark unknown.
Now, before all of the houses start attacking me for pinning them in good or evil alignments, I want to point out that these are the classical definitions of alignments, and the terms "good" and "evil" do not explicitly mean "good" and "evil." They just define personal values along with the rest of the alignments. An Evil alignment is not explicitly inclined to do bad things, and the same goes for a Good alignment. Additionally, I am acutely aware that not everyone in the same house is the exact same and there are exceptions abound.
I do, however, encourage constructive criticism and would like to open up a discussion about this, and a discussion about inter-house relationships in this perspective as well. I am a Ravenclaw happily married to a Slytherin, and from my experience, that's the kind of couple that will take over the world. I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts on these alignments and relationships and offer up any differing opinions you might have. Please be nice to each other.
