Let me indulge you

Let me take you on a little trip back to Roman times. A beautiful summers day in the Mediterranean, lying lazily in the shade by the pool, savouring grapes, figs and wine while listening to the soft buzz of bees flying around the wisteria overhead

So, I've spent the last three weeks on this, my most ambitious and detailed painting so far. I had a lot of fun mapping out the composition and drawing every single grape, flower and tree in the background - my laptop not so much. Noted, 180 layers is about the maximum photoshop can take. But we need to find a way around that cause I've tasted blood now

Hello, hello! I haven’t posted in a while and it shows. I’ve been pretty busy these last few weeks with many things and most notably projects, but for now let me share something I’ve been participating in.

Sketch-a-day is a sub event happening in Sade’s Discord community, where you supposedly sketch every day for a month straight, a task I seem to be failing at quite frequently seen by me doing most of said sketches the day they’re due 😅. Nonetheless this event has been an indispensable one, as I was going through an art block by the end of June, so doing these little sketches helped get me back into the drawing habit I very much needed at the time. By the time I’m making this post I’m finishing off week three of making these silly little sketches but I decided to share what I have done like they were shown originally, so on each Sunday for approximately 4 weeks I’ll be sharing a weeks worth of doodles that can hopefully give someone a cackle or a smile if I can :)

A few months ago, fellow fandom dweller and fic writer @silvernightwalker decided to organize a fan book project with the hopes of giving it to DT at a local con, but due to certain circumstances, the panel and meetup got canceled. But that project was still such a blast to contribute in, heck I even got the chance to help make a simple portrait artwork for the cover!

(This is a rather long post so I’ll cut it here, but the full version contains quick rundown of my process and trials, as well as full credits for those who helped make this thing real!)

So what exactly did we do? Well a portrait is simple enough, seeing the tight deadline we had if we wanted the book to arrive in time for the con. Since the book itself contains so much wonderful art by so many artists, having something that shows many illustrated variations of the actor himself made sense, and again seeing as we were a couple of artists working on this assured we wouldn’t surpass the deadline. So after a bit of rummaging in the GO Reference Library we managed to Frankenstein an image that fitted our theme and then we could actually start making our portraits.

I started by thinking I should do a normal digital painting, but seeing how most of our team was doing that, I thought, "Why not do it traditionally instead? It's been a while since I've painted with acrylics."

I immediately regretted that, as I there was only a few days left and I hadn't even started my final submission. So plan C it was.

Finally seeing as everyone was drawing the reference picture in their unique style, I decide I would invoke my learnings from doing way too many Professor Layton crossover art and draw DT in a fun stylized way, with nice chunky lineart and include nods to some of his roles that really stuck with me (A.J. Crowley, the Tenth and Fourteenth Doctor and a seemingly well hidden Scrooge McDuck from Ducktails, since that's probably the first role of his I've got to see in action). And then I let the colours really take the show by at first limiting my palette to then painting it a little in greyscale.

It’s been a minute!

I went on vacation mid June, then haven’t quite recovered since coming back lol!! Then the Fourth of July hit; which is also my birthday.

So fair to say, I have not fully recovered 🤣

Anyway I thought I’d share on tumblr as well…I did a portrait piece of David Tennant with a few of my Dirty Donkey Good Omens gang. We crazily finished in 3 days time. The beads have given us PTSD lol!!

Good Morning News

I’ve been listening to Sherlock &Co since February but haven’t drawn any of these bastards digitally. But when I saw the fan community was active here I immediately jumped on my seat! There’s soo much good fan art, I’m happy! Anyways here’s my contribution for the Sherlock&Co Pride, might do some more depending on how occupied I’ll be.

I kicked my legs while see this, amazing job with the artwork! Since I’ve been getting back into Hades and other video games that takes place in Ancient Greece, I’ve been nocking my head to try and make a design for the duo during those times but this absolutely beats anything I’ve managed to make. And the style replication is stunning!

Fantasy Armour Shenanigans Aziraphale (Supreme Arc-Angel?)

Viking Era Aziraphale (Crowley’s design in the concept comic is from Imus.sumi on Discord! Have yet to ask their Tumblr handle but it’s something I’ll get to asking in the near future. Also probably the one that’s going to change the most since I do want to lean in a more historically accurate look for this one due to story reasons)

Fem Crowley and Aziraphale Disco Inspired looks (emphasis on inspired on this one since it looks like I’m just going on generally a night dance club look for it, unlike the others these are made for a future full illustration so I’m giving myself much more leeway on it)
