I'm currently playing The Sims 4 on the long lifespan, and omg - I've gotten so attached to this family! I've been playing them for 3 years now off and on. The second sim of Generation 3 just died tonight. I'm not ok!

Sulani was clearly not Alliana’s favorite place to be. Even if she was feeling a bit forlorn, I was grateful to have her near. I knew that we would make the most of however long our parents planned to keep us there.

Meet the Cast

Catalina Caliente is the daughter of Don Lothario and Katrina Caliente. As far as the world knows, she is the only confirmed child of Don. Though, and like many others suspect, she is undoubtedly the half-sister to both Misty and Jaime, Nina’s son. This is partially the reason why she was inspired to move away and live the way that she does. Their opulent hunger for attention was never something that she was interested in, much to Katrina’s everlasting disappointment.

Preferring to live as a hermit, she has, for many years, enjoyed the quiet hum of island life. A conservationist at heart she would do anything to preserve Sulani’s rich culture and beautiful habitats. 

Unsurprisingly, she has not lived with other people since right after Khloe’s birth. As such, having two teenage girls to look after is a daunting task. Especially since both of her nieces don’t share her vegetarian ideals. Regardless, she is willing to try and is hopeful that she can help point them towards a better path.

Meet The Cast

Alliana is more of a Caliente than she is a Cunningham. Much to her dismay, her mom Dina left the spotlight to marry her father, Jared. Half-sisters with Misty, Khloe’s mother, she is desperate for even a fraction of her fame. 

Sent to Sulani because Dina thought that Khloe needed company, she is disappointed to have her plans to spend the summer in Del Sol Valley ruined. Although living in different cities, Khloe and Alliana have always been extremely close - even despite the oddity of their relationship.  

Self-assured, there is not a single shy bone in her body. She LOVES attention! Although she thinks that the island is beautiful, her materialistic side of her is not at all thrilled by her aunt’s choice of living situation.

Meet the Cast

Khloe Caliente-Kibo. The third generation of a family I have been playing for quite some time. The result of a teen pregnancy, both of her parents are still young and far too busy maintaining their luxurious lifestyle to pay much attention to her. Uncoincidentally, she is an only child - but she often reflects that this is a good thing given her parents' apparent inability to devote any amount of time to her. 

Perhaps it was because of this that she found herself in the trouble that landed her in Sulani. Of course, she could have easily explained herself into innocense. But what was the point? 

Outgoing, she does not thrive well when forced into loneliness. Her perfectionist tendencies ensure that she always succeeds in everything she does - and when she doesn’t...she struggles to forgive herself.

I didn’t confirm her suspicions, of course. How could I when I, myself, didn’t even know why I had done what I did. Once we were both finished eating we went on a walk on the beach. I knew the silence we shared was too good to be true and wouldn’t last much longer.

Alliana: “Girl, I think you’re making this too much of a thing.”

Khloe: “How would you know? You weren’t there.”

It wasn’t like me to be so hot-tempered. I walked over to sit on the bench. It took her a little while, but, eventually, Alli joined me.

Alliana: “Look, we are both stuck here. Trust me, I would much rather be in Del Sol Valley soaking up all the fame juice that I can from your parents – but mom had other ideas. I say, while we are marooned here, let's make the most of it. No point sulking about.”

She was right, as much as I hated to admit it. Nodding slowly, I attempted to swallow my guilt.

Alliana: “Now, I’m gunna go get my tan on. Join me, you’re looking a little bit pasty…”

I smiled despite myself.

Khloe: “Some of us weren’t blessed with a gorgeous complexion such as yours, Alli.”

Alliana: *winking* “No excuses. I will see you tan by the end of this summer, even if it kills me.”

Alliana: “Say what you want about Aunt Lina, but she sure has one hell of a few.”

Khloe: *startled* “She sure does.”

Alliana: “So, what is there to do that’s fun on this island?”

Khloe: “I saw a little diner on my way in last night. Looked interesting…”

Alliana: “Sure beats standing here and staring at the water.”

Together we walked down the road to where I remembered seeing the little shack. It wasn’t much and, from the looks of it, it also doubled as a bar for the night scene – not that I was hopeful that there were many parties happening on that quiet isle. Sitting at one of the tables, we both ordered a plate of fish and chips.

Alliana: “Mom said you got yourself arrested.”

Blunt as always, I struggled to swallow my bite of food.

Khloe: “It’s complicated…”

Alliana: “Not from where I’m standing. The daughter of the hottest celebrity of our time turned bad girl? That’s one way to get their attention.”

Khloe: “Who’s attention?”

Alliana: “Come now, niece. I may be young, but I’m not stupid. Your parents, of course.”

Sometimes I hated how well she knew me.

I didn’t expect them to answer. If I knew them at all, they were probably out enjoying their new life – a life without me.

Misty: “Hello?”

Khloe: “Mom…I, uh, I didn’t think that you would answer.”

Misty: “Well, I don’t have much time. What do you need? Money, clothes?”

Khloe: “No, I just wanted to –.”

Misty: “Honey, you know mommy is very busy. I don’t have time to just stand around and chit chat all day.”

Khloe: “I know…”

Misty: “Now, if you’ll excuse me. Your father is waiting.”

Khloe: “O-okay.”

Misty: “I love you very much, sweet heart.”

Khloe: “I -.”

*Phone disconnects.*

Question on preference

I’m toying with the idea of telling the story from Khloe’s point of view. I really like the flow of a first-person narrative. What do you think?

Khloe: “Aunt Lina, you didn’t tell me that Alli was coming.”

Aunt Lina: “Oh good, is she here?”

Khloe: “…yes…”

Aunt Lina: “Great! …I’m…almost…Finished. There. Let’s go greet our new guest.”

She was already talking like I’d been there for years. Silent, I watched as she rose and wrapped Alli in a massive hug. The lump returned in my throat.

Khloe: “I’m going to make a quick phone call.”

Aunt Lina: “The dock has the best reception…So, Alliana, tell me – how is your mother?”

Technically, Alliana Cunningham was Khloe’s aunt. The two never functioned that way, of course. More like friends than family it always felt that Alli belonged more to the Caliente clan than Khloe did.

Alliana: “You’re right. I hate it.”

Alliana: “Yoo-hoo! Khloe, is that you?!”

Khloe: “Alli? What are you doing here?”

Alliana: “Same as you, I suppose. Social exile.”

Khloe: “Oh my god, I can’t believe it!”

Alliana: “Don’t get too excited, the first chance I get I’m jumping on a plane and hoofing it to Del Sol Valley.”

Khloe: “I wish.”

Alliana: “So, give me the rundown.”

Khloe: “…you’re not going to like it…”

Of course, things weren’t quite as bad as they seemed.

Despite her late night, Khloe woke up reasonably early the next morning. Taking a look at Lina’s house (a term used loosely in this circumstance), Khloe quickly realized that it gave the term ‘open concept’ a whole new meaning. 

Khloe: “No reception? Great...”

She’d always heard stories about how Catalina Caliente was the hermit of their family. It was only then that she realized just how accurate that depiction was.

Sulani is not Khloe’s idea of a perfect summer vacation spot. Her parents, however, disagree. And who was she to argue with her two super famous mom and dad? Fresh off the plane and standing in front of her aunt Catalina’s house, her hopes that perhaps it wouldn’t be as bad as she thought it would be, plummetted.

Aunt Lina:  • waving from the porch • “Khloe! You’re here!”

Khloe:  “Hi aunt Lina.”

Aunt Lina:  • running over  • “How was your flight?”

Khloe: “Ok, I guess...”

Aunt Lina: “Here, come inside. You must be hungry and exhausted.”

• Walks inside  •

Aunt Lina:  • Brings over a bowl of cereal and sits  • “Your mom said that you got in a bit of trouble at the end of the semester?”

Khloe: “...A little...”

Aunt Lina: “We don’t have to talk about it right now. What’s most important is that you settle in and get a good night's rest. Your room is right behind me. It's not much, but I’m sure you’ll make do. Now, I’m going to hop off to bed. Finish your cereal and make sure to turn out the lights, kay?”

Khloe: “Mkay...”

Why Catalina would ever trade Caliente Mansion for this...shack...escaped Khloe’s abilities of comprehension.
