Spring has sprung! Last night, I hung out with some #ottawaletteringpals and we chatted about what kinds of jobs we want to do more of/less of, and it got me really thinking.. I want to do: . MORE wedding invitations (full design, production, everything), spot calligraphy (single word designs in my calligraphy for wedding stuff, branding, tattoos, etc.), and place cards (a beautiful personalized detail that I just LOVE) . LESS seating charts, murals, live calligraphy (I've actually never done live calligraphy, but I just don't have the availability for it, ha!) . I had SO MUCH FUN designing my wedding invitations last year, and would love to walk through the process with a couple looking for something a little modern, a little traditional, a clean design, with lots of style. . Oh, and I also want to do MORE teaching! Not just beginner modern calligraphy classes, but some level 2 and beyond classes, too! . #panicfreepricingchallenge | I've been nominated (thx @aviscribbles!) to share the real price I charged for a real project, so I thought I'd share these wood signs I made a couple years ago. I have a love/hate relationship with wood signs.. they are beaaautiful, but lots of work. - For these, I provided the wood, prepped the surface (many rounds of sanding and staining), and of course did the design and calligraphy. Wood is a difficult surface because there is little room for error, I had to stain multiple coats to get this dark colour (+ time to dry in between), and multiple coats to get a vibrant white, too. - In the end, I charged $96 each, and now these families have a lovely keepsake in their homes. - I love that this challenge (hosted by @thehappyevercrafter and @indetailcreative) is highlighting the incredible value of artwork. Artists, charge your worth! By being transparent about our pricing, we are making sure we don't undercut the industry and that we support the incredible amount of work and talent that goes into each piece. Sooooo, I hear bows are trendy this year? Anyone else getting sucked into the vortex of YouTube trend videos lately? I feel like I've seen my fair share. And this bow trend is something I can definitely get on board with! This giant bow belt was maybe one of my favourite bridal details from Jethro and I's wedding. Would it be weird if I just wore a big white bow every day? K so I know this photo is not seasonally appropriate, considering all the SNOW in Ottawa today... but here we are. Popping in with an old photo of some of my favourite cards. And to say that I'm really bad at writing photo captions.
