nezumi at the end of everything decidedly gives up on his past to let go to the city that abandoned him and everything that hurt him which meant also giving up on the only thing he’s ever loved which also meant he finally fulfilled the promise me made to himself back when he was a kid......

is gran safu's grandmother ?? or was this another character in the series

Gran is the name given to an elderly woman who carried Nezumi to safety while their people were being murdered. She raised him and was killed by No.6, and Nezumi was then taken into custody. She basically manipulated and planted the idea of revenge into Nezumi’s mind from a pretty young age, telling him never to trust or love or be open with anyone. She basically made him believe everything and everyone was out to get him, so it’s no wonder he acts the way he does. It talks of her more in the novel, not so much in the manga or anime.
