The newest addition to The All:
Raining Embers is a series set in a post apocalyptic future. A world that suffered a cataclysmic event that killed off around 90% of all humans. An event that is shrouded in mystery.
The series itself takes place around 200 years after the event. Not much is known about the world from before the event, and what is known is from literature, photographs, and the objects that survived the cataclysm, which are considered relics. Not even the generation of people that survived the calamity and lived before it happened remembered that much, as it was like humanity as a whole had a nearly complete memory wipe when it occurred.
The world was around the year 700, though in terms of technology, it was among the lines of the 21st century. Cars, electronics, and various other things. Though it was like the world was reverted to the stone ages because of the event destroying infrastructure and society itself, as well as the memory wipe leading to people needing to relearn things they once knew about the world.
Nowadays, around 900, the world has over 2,000 settlements across all continents, except for one. Speaking of, I should shed some light on what the continents are like. First off, Ghintai, the continent where the main characters live.
Ghintai being in the north, had frigid winters, but much warmer summer months. However among the many mysteries of the calamitous event, many continents had significant changes. Ghintai was no exception. It began to snow in summer, and the continent was plunged into a never-ending winter.
Axwon Lucar was a humid continent, which much desert terrain. However the calamity boosted its heat permanently. It once had much jungle terrain as well as desert, though the increased heat caused the water to dry up a lot, killing much of the jungles.
The continent of Faeri once had fertile soil, though the soil became very dry and unsuitable for most crops. This caused famine. Genevi was a continent which stayed mostly the same, however it began having an aggression epidemic. With many animals and even humans becoming aggressive.
Though the most altered was the continent of Brutun. It’s lush plains and forests were transformed into earth that appeared like ash, and was fungus covered. And it’s waters turned red. It is uninhabited despite before the calamity being the most populous continent, as it’s entire population was slaughtered. And is said to be inhabited by monsters and demons. Brutun was the epicenter of the event.
Bandit groups also run amok, offering some semblance of order, however most are unruly, giving high taxes to those under their reign, causing many to abandon settlements and live secluded. However chance of survival is low, as the settlements offered protection from the elements, wildlife, and aggressive individuals. And under the bandit groups, rapes and murders are often widespread.
The story follows two brothers, Nathaniel and Jason Achterberg. The two are orphans, with Nathiel being the eldest at 17, with Jason being 15. The two live in a small log cabin nearby the settlement of Snowricht. They make money to purchase food and other supplies from the settlement by harvesting scrap metal from any nearby vehicles from before the calamity or any nearby junk yards.
The story will involve them dealing with bandits and other people, though the overarching narrative will involve uncovering the mystery of the cataclysm, as well as dealing with the threat of another cataclysm at the hands of its source.
So, any thoughts and questions, do share/ask!

I have a multiverse known as The All that will comprise most of my stories. Of which I have around 20 planned. I also have a solo project known as Imperium Romanum. A series that is an alt history. Essentially an alt history of if the Roman Empire didn’t collapse and survived to the modern era. It’s more detailed than that, but you get the gist. So hi. I suppose.
