A resident

I was in a residents room the other night was putting to bed, when the DON comes in to talk to her roommate, let's call her "C". As I'm putting this resident in bed I hear the DON explain to C that her family has stopped paying for her stay, so now she's only there on insurance (or something along those lines) and that basically they won't cover the expenses for her to leave the facility to go to church every Sunday, like she always has, in fact, she can't leave the facility at all. After the DON left without comforting her at all, I peeked around the corner and saw C crying. I spent the next 20 minutes with C explaining to her that I love her, and we all love her very much, sometimes bad things happen we just can't control, I got a few smiles out of her and calmed her down; now she gives me the biggest smile every day when she sees me. These are the things that make my job alright, I love these people like my own.

I have a new male resident on my hall, he has a purple throw pillow with a black cat on it. I've noticed a pattern over the last two nights, when I put him in bed he always grabs his purple pillow and says "I'll be fine, I've got my pussy right here." The first time he said it I laughed and said something like "good, I see its a black pussy too, nice." His laugh was one I'll remember for a while, while he laughed he got out the words "I could let ya borrow it for a night if you need"
