Goodbye Easter
So the long weekend is over, along with all my Easter eggs. Dairy overload, and I'm praying I don't break out before holidays on Sunday. Everyone deserved a dairy treat for Easter! (Although I definitely appreciate that I over did it, eep). So my erythromycin is doing a far better job than the lymecycline had been recently. I no longer have massive angry cysts along my jawline, although I am extremely scarred. Not sure if my skincare routine has helped my skin along too, will do a product review soon if this keeps up.

Lookfantastic haul last week 😍 Slowly trying to introduce a couple of these new products into my skincare routine, without overdoing it as I'm trying to be as sensitive as possible to my face. I'm already regretting purchasing the shampoo, it was an impulse buy to get my basket up to the total for the 'free kourtney kardashian Manuka doctor gift' which consisted of 3 tiny sachets. Boo. Never will I spent this much on a shampoo again. Smells awful, and haven't noticed any improvement to my hair so far. I'm slowly going to start introducing the bare minerals blemish remedy cleanser into my morning routine as it includes ginger and peppermint so I'm hoping the fresh scent will get me up in the morning. This also included salicylic acid which I'm hoping will sort out my acne and scars - will keep you updated. I've also purchased the pixi glow tonic, which I've been wanting to try for ages, an exfoliating toner with glycol acid, aloe Vera and witch hazel. I haven't tried this yet but will post about it when I do with my thoughts. I also purchased the Paula's choice anti redness exfoliating solution in a trial size, which I thought was an excellent way to try out this product without spending a fortune. This, again, is an exfoliating toner and includes 2% salicylic acid. I have used this a couple of times and have found it has reduced the acne scars on my cheeks vaguely, so far no change to my blackheads or acne, but I'll persevere. As for the mane 'n tail conditioner, answer me this - ever seen a horse with frizzy hair? Nope? This is one of the best conditioners I have ever used, thoroughly recommend.

Quick update - more antibiotics
So I've been extremely down this week about my skin since the out of the blue explosion along my jawline last week. I had no luck getting into the dermatologist earlier, but did manage to see a doctor. As the lymecycline clearly wasn't working for me anymore (and hasn't significantly improved the year and a half I've been on it) I've been given erythromycin to try instead. I've tried this in topical form before, with no results as such, but I'm hoping this will keep my skin under control a bit better until my dermo appointment in June. The side effects have been horrendous so far - I've been extremely nauseous ever since taken them, a common side effect apparently. My thinking at the moment is that the years of antibiotics are getting far more dangerous for my body than a (hopefully) 6 month course on Roaccutane. I've been watching Roaccutane journeys, speaking to others that have been on it and basically obsessing over web pages every day. Really think it's my last hope.

Attempting a vegan diet for as long as I can manage to see if this'll help my poor, inflamed face. Vegetable and fruit curry. I basically added everything that claims to reduce inflammation - spinach, pineapple, broccoli, turmeric, cinnamon, ginger.. And it's pretty damn good if I say so myself.

Down in the dumps
My cystic acne is so inflamed and painful I can barely move my face. I spoke to a pharmacist who thinks my acne is infected. Fantastic. I can't get into my dermatologist before June, so fingers crossed for a doctors appointment at least tomorrow. I'm incredibly down and teary every time I look in the mirror. I would say I can't remember the last time I felt this down, but I do, vividly. It was this exact same time two years ago, when my skin was inflamed and painful from using pure tea tree oil (don't do it!). Two years of the same struggle, a fortune spent on products, hours spent researching, and all for nothing. Hmmph.

Fed up
Woke up two days ago looking like I'd been strangled in my sleep - hey again eczema! I can't think of a single thing that has triggered this and I am fed up. As if that's not enough, the central part of my face has started peeling. I had started using my Differin cream for the cystic acne around my jawline last week, but I'm always so careful not to put it near the sensitive areas of my face. Hmmph. I've concluded that the creams I use on my neck for my eczema are flaring up the acne along my jawline. So unfair that I'm always having to decide wether to help my eczema or my acne (the dermatologist actually said this to me when I asked wether Roaccutane would make my eczema worse - "well would you rather acne or eczema?"). Definitely a day in bed moping today I think.

push yourself to get up before the rest of the world - start with 7am, then 6am, then 5:30am. go to the nearest hill with a big coat and a scarf and watch the sun rise. 2. push yourself to fall asleep earlier - start with 11pm, then 10pm, then 9pm. wake up in the morning feeling re-energized and comfortable. 3. erase processed food from your diet. start with no lollies, chips, biscuits, then erase pasta, rice, cereal, then bread. use the rule that if a child couldn’t identify what was in it, you don’t eat it. 4. get into the habit of cooking yourself a beautiful breakfast. fry tomatoes and mushrooms in real butter and garlic, fry an egg, slice up a fresh avocado and squirt way too much lemon on it. sit and eat it and do nothing else. 5. stretch. start by reaching for the sky as hard as you can, then trying to touch your toes. roll your head. stretch your fingers. stretch everything. 6. buy a 1L water bottle. start with pushing yourself to drink the whole thing in a day, then try drinking it twice. 7. buy a beautiful diary and a beautiful black pen. write down everything you do, including dinner dates, appointments, assignments, coffees, what you need to do that day. no detail is too small. 8. strip your bed of your sheets and empty your underwear draw into the washing machine. put a massive scoop of scented fabric softener in there and wash. make your bed in full. 9. organise your room. fold all your clothes (and bag what you don’t want), clean your mirror, your laptop, vacuum the floor. light a beautiful candle. 10. have a luxurious shower with your favourite music playing. wash your hair, scrub your body, brush your teeth. lather your whole body in moisturiser, get familiar with the part between your toes, your inner thighs, the back of your neck. 11. push yourself to go for a walk. take your headphones, go to the beach and walk. smile at strangers walking the other way and be surprised how many smile back. bring your dog and observe the dog’s behaviour. realise you can learn from your dog. 12. message old friends with personal jokes. reminisce. suggest a catch up soon, even if you don’t follow through. push yourself to follow through. 14. think long and hard about what interests you. crime? sex? boarding school? long-forgotten romance etiquette? find a book about it and read it. there is a book about literally everything. 15. become the person you would ideally fall in love with. let cars merge into your lane when driving. pay double for parking tickets and leave a second one in the machine. stick your tongue out at babies. compliment people on their cute clothes. challenge yourself to not ridicule anyone for a whole day. then two. then a week. walk with a straight posture. look people in the eye. ask people about their story. talk to acquaintances so they become friends. 16. lie in the sunshine. daydream about the life you would lead if failure wasn’t a thing. open your eyes. take small steps to make it happen for you.

Wanted: New Cleanser
On the lookout for a new cleanser for my morning face wash. For years I have used the simple foaming wash - but I've recently discovered an angel in the form of Caroline Hirons ( I could not recommend anyone suffering with their skin to check her out enough!) who turned me off foaming washes for life! My night time cleanse consists of Simple micellar water, followed by the Elemis Lime Blossom cleanser (double cleanse ftw) however, I do prefer something with water and a flannel to wake me up a bit more in the mornings. Would love any recommendations! Something gentle, cruelty free and with as little ingredients as possible.

I love getting my birchbox delivery, it really is like opening a present Christmas time! I have been left a little deflated with most my boxes recently to be honest, but I can’t complain too much as I think £12.95 is a bit of a bargain. Even though some of the samples are minuscule, I do find them good for taking away on my weekends away and for packing in my hand luggage for holidays.
So this month I have..
1. Benefit They’re Real! Double the lip in Lusty Rose (RRP £16.50) Quite excited to try this one. I’m hoping it will be as budge proof as the They’re Real Mascara. I’ll probably keep this in work as it’s quite a tame colour. No matter how good this is I doubt I’ll find myself paying the full price for another one, but if I am completely blown away I’ll give an update post.
2. Balance Me instant life primer (RRP £22) I do love a Primer, and I do quite like other Balance Me products that I’ve sampled in the past ( I actually went on to buy the full sized Congested Skin Serum, which I am in fact going to dig out and try again seeing as I’m out of my current serum) so I’m looking forward to trying this. I have recently bought a new primer which I’m absolutely loving, so this one might have to wait a while.
3. Rituals Sakura Foaming Shower Gel (RRP from £4.50) I hate getting shower gels/cleaners in my box. I have extremely dry and sensitive skin which has been partial to atopic eczema the last year for some unknown reason. I get the feeling that a foaming cleanser will definitely not be for me, my skin is in fact itching at the thought of it, so I’ll probably give this away.
4. Batiste 2-in-1 Invisible Dry Shampoo & Conditioner (RRP £4.49) I already have this from an Introductory offer in Boots. I love the standard Batiste Dry Shampoo, and haven’t been particularly blown away by any of their follow up products. I wouldn’t purchase this myself again, but am happy enough with this travel sized extra.
5. Marcella Gentle Make-Up Remover (RRP £14.50) Packed this on my weekend back to Wales last weekend and although it worked quite well, I did find I needed a lot of product per eye to really get the mascara budging. Bottom line being I can’t see this lasting very long, and would probably reach for a cheaper alternative rather than repurchasing.
This has probably been the happiest I’ve been with my samples for a while on the whole. I’ll definitely keep you updated if anything really blows me away.

Cruelty free beauty
After watching an absolutely heartbreaking video about animal cruelty in the beauty industry last night, which has played on my mind all night and all day, I have decided to be far more careful in future about what brands I choose to spend my hard earned money on. I have never understood why testing on animals has ever needed to be a thing. It's inhumane, disgusting and unnecessary. It breaks my heart just thinking about it. I spent my lunch break researching cruelty free brands, and which brands to avoid in future, and I was extremely taken aback and disappointed in how much of my current routine will have to change - with L'oreal, and an umbrella of brands under the L'oreal umbrella, being one of the main culprits. I'm going to need a major rethink in my skincare and Beaty routine by the looks of things! I'll keep you updated..

This weekends delivery. I've tried the La Roche Posay start kit before. Twice. It didn't really work for me either time. I've had so many recommendations for it again recently that I've looked in to other products to try - I needed a scrub, and I've heard plenty of rave reviews about the serozinc spray so thought I'd give them a go. I bought these of lookfantastic.com, and they were a third of the price to what I've paid in the past (which means I can buy more things this month, no?). I'm also forever on the look out for anything to keep my ginger hair lasting that little bit longer so thought I'd give the KC professional color mask a go.
