i don't understand the recent "how often do men think of the roman empire" trend. one of the most well-known recent academic and popular historians of the roman empire is a woman, mary beard. why do this? it isn't cute or funny if you think about the implications for more than five seconds

hot take, but i think a significant part of why girls who hold the view that butch/masc/gnc women (or ones that just arent that feminine) hold some kind of power over them is because they just don't want to admit that they really don't like them because of how they present, that they find another woman not ascribing to more traditional femininity as offputting and uncomfortable and strange (dare I say queer), but you cant say that and acknowledging that is recognition of their own prejudice, and so they need a good progressive reason to dislike them and hence they declare that the 'proximity' to traditional male-ness gives them some kind of privilege over feminine women, which as a caveat it does sometimes mean that men initially give more 'respect' but as literally any women who has been 'gifted' that respect can tell you, like most conditional things if you don't fill the conditions (ie; by being a person) you lose that and the backlash of misogyny becomes brutal, in much the same way that feminine women get gifted conditional respect but can lose it in different contexts, but other then that extremely conditional gift of respect what privilege do masc/butch/gnc women get or hold?

I also think thats why there is something fairly insidious about how getting over internalised misogyny is often now in a lot of supposedly progressive groups painted as women who were previously gnc becoming feminine, and signaling having non-traditional interests as a woman or not enjoying a lot of feminine things as a form of internalised misogyny, and yes sometimes women do aggressively reject feminine things because of that, but being a feminine woman doesn't inherently mean that you have no internalised misogyny

I fucking hateeee how toothless and restrained any discussion of patriarchy, misogyny, and feminism has become. Like don't get me wrong, 2012/13 feminism was dogshit for many reasons but it had one benefit in that it was willing to have harder conversations about things like beauty standards and such and wasn't caught up in 'but it makes me feel good!!' stopping from.mentioning anything

The joy of being a gnc woman or just a woman who does or has any interests which are stereotyped as masculine, you get to be called a self hating woman who would be happier if they were feminine by not only Conservative tradwife women, but also 'feminists' who've not deconstructed anything about gender stereotypes other then hating feminine things because theyre feminine is misogynistic

The cases of MMIW, Black trans women's murders, sex workers' murders, lesbicides, and the cases of women who were never romantically or sexually involved with men who wanted them and murdered them for it all count as well.

But come ON "spousal homicide of women" is THE stereotypical example of a femicide, and often the only one laws recognize, if any is recognized at all.

It's about time that imperial core feminists start organizing around femicide, especially in the US now that abortion rights were rescinded and that no-fault divorce is about to go the same route.

I am a cis woman but I have such a complicated relationship to my own womanhood because theres so much stuff people equate to womanhood that I can't relate to and then the stuff people to equate to womanhood, they assume I was somehow immune to or didn't experience purely due to other parts I don't relate to

And it's fucking hard
