Snödrömmar Character Profile:D (MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD)

Side Character: Sören Modin/Bienna

Age: Around 30-40 Nationality: Swedish Fun Fact: He is one of the Saajvoe People Played by: Olle Sarri

Sören is a visitor and has come to search for his roots in the area around the Gaavmoe family's land. He was adopted from the area when he was a child, a fact he just recently learned since the passing of his adoptive parents. He has always felt like an outsider and never really fit in, something which he now attributes to his adoption and the fact that he's probably Saami.

He comes to work for and helps Maggan at the resort, not asking for anything besides a place to stay and some help in finding his home and family. He is very kind, optimistic and also naive as he gets tricked by one of the minor antagonists in the show. He is very excited to find his roots and tries very hard to learn and fit in the Saami culture something that both Nils-Anders and Maggan tries to help him with. However he still doesn't feel like he fits in until he finds out about his actual family, the Saajvoe people whom he had forgotten about as he got stuck in the human world as a child.

In a world where so many indigenous people have lost, been forcefully taken away from or had their culture stolen from them he is just such good representation of what it can mean and look like to try and reclaim it (although I'm not Saami or indigenous so please feel free to disagree).

He was found, taken away from his family and adopted into a family with no ties whatsoever to his culture. He struggled so much with fitting in and always felt like an outsider, bouncing from job to job, from education to education never really having any friends.

His parents never even told him he was adopted, he only found out because they died and that only happened when he was around 40 years old. AAUUUGGHHH it's so tragic and such a good metaphor.

And then he gets to the Gaavmoe ski resort to try and find his family, try and rediscover his culture in an attempt to finally feel at home. Maggan and Nils-Anders are so sweet, they try to help him so much and they introduce him to stuff and aaahhhgggg

Of course he doesn't really fit in there either because he's actually one of the Saajvoes (a Saami folkloric people) and It's just so sad watching him say he'll never fit in

But then he sings his first jojk and he finally finds his real family! His mother, his brother and his nephew!!! They recognize him immediately even though he's been gone for almost 40 years and they embrace him and then the last scene we see of him he's being happy, finally belonging, finally home with his FAMILY

Everyone gives Sherlock Holmes a hard time about being mean about Watson's writing, but honestly imagine you told your roommate "sure, you can write up an account of my work for the newspaper," thinking it would be like, about the murder, but then he publishes it and it's 90% about you, as a person, and it's a huge hit and now everyone in London knows that you hoard newspapers and do cocoaine when you're depressed. Because I think you'd be little miffed too.

This, explains a lot, Ive read fanfiction since I was like ten or older I dont remember, and I only ever read x reader fanfiction, and now I understand why, because its the only thing that gives me the feeling of being loved, cared about in a really specific fantasied way, Ive literally cried after reading a fanfiction bot because it was sad but because it gave me this amazing feeling of being cared for that I couldnt find anywhere else, and I would cry because when I finished reading, I would remember none of it was real, and I would miss that rush/dopamine I got from reading the story. Its why I love reading about myself dying, or getting hurt and being cared for or grieved over, because I get dopamine from feeling like someone cares about me that much. Ive never been able to read any other fanfiction than x reader. I havent really understood why until now. The other stories just dont give me that same dopamine rush. I got diagnosed in 2020, and have learnt new things everyday, this is by far the one closest to my heart that Im so glad I finally understand. Edit: Sorry for rambling so much but I just really love talking. The negative side of gaining dopamine from reading is that the process can be very slow, the reward is high and instant (I have literally never felt the same feeling outside of fanfiction) but goes away quickly which means having to search for more fanfiction, and not all gives dopamine, if something is written badly or just in a way I dont enjoy, I wont get much dopamine from reading it, but I wont know that until I start reading, so the process of finding that same rush again is very slow and sad. Even rarer for me because my taste in fanfiction is already narrowed because of only reading x reader, and also the fact that I have high standards for what will give me the dopamine I crave.

fan fiction is SO addicting to people with ADHD because our brains aren't innatentive, they're just constantly searching out sources of dopamine because we don't produce enough on our own. fan fiction supplies us with an endless archive of free stories - long and short - containing characters we already love and we can just devour story after story after story one after another and it feels SO GOOD.
