hi, I wanted to ask whether the sticker bundle add-on for the kickstarter is still available. I can see it in the details but I can't seem to add it to my pledge, only the zine and bandana are listed. congratulations on the successful project, I've been following for ages and it'll be great to see it in person!

I wanted to thank you all for being a fantastic community.

One night in Burbank, California, a friend of mine and I were sitting around a heat lamp at an artist expo when she suddenly went, "You know what'd be cool? Cowboys that rode on pegasi." At the time we laughed about it and brainstormed ideas until finally everyone went to bed. But on the plane back home to the Midwest I started drawing the very first pegasi... and I never really stopped. That was 6ish years ago. Today the Sky Cowboys artbook is funded at 368%!

But what's important here is that I couldn't have done it without all of you - from the likers, rebloggers, askers, and lurkers here on Tumblr, to the SC Discord crowd, to my loyal patrons. All of you banded together and made this project a reality - and not just the book. The whole SC world is alive and well in large part due to all of you <3

So even after the book is printed, signed, and shipped I'll keep Sky Cowboys going. I'm thinkin' a web comic next!

I also wanted to give special thanks to @evergreena, @inkfire-scribe, Starsilver, W0lfPupper, and Britny (the aforementioned friend). May your scarves stay true, sky blue!

Correct me if I'm remembering wrong--the world of sky cowboys is riddled with chasms such that a lot of the land is cut off from the other side unless you can go over it--eg, there's no going around a lot of these chasms.

Since shortwings can't fly, does this mean that it's the norm for individual breeds/types to be extremely localized? Has anyone gone to the effort to import/export any of them to cross-breed or even just sell "exotic" shortwings, or is it mostly seen as not worth the effort?

You're correct, there's basically a Grand Canyon every fifty miles. So yes, shortwings are extremely local.

And yes :) So, some chasms are narrow enough to be bridged and goods/shortwings can be traded between connected islands. For islands that are isolated - you could theoretically load a strong broadwing with one or two shortwing eggs or even a live hatchling provided you have a surrogate mare at the new location who you know will adopt the babies. Though, this is can be pretty risky so most breeders do this only in extreme circumstances.

Pegasus Masterpost

Here's a little guide to the main classes of pegasi in the Sky Cowboys world!

Sky Cowboys pegasi generally follow these "rules" -

They have beaks - most are similar to raptor or seabird beaks. Used for opening nuts and snapping up small prey. They do still graze on long-stalk grasses.

Coat colors stay within the equine range, but feathers can be any color.

They have horse-like brains and so are trainable similarly to horses.

They cannot speak like some birds can.

The standard flight range per day is 150 miles. It's called a "hop".

Broadwing Pegasi

These are the main workhorses of the world. They're hardy, agile, and tend to have solid temperaments. Most pilots fly these for all sorts of jobs and have been bred into many unique breeds.

Quick visual - Quarter horses or mustangs with eagle or kite wings.

Longwing Pegasi

Longwings have as much attitude as they do wing surface, but they make up for it with sheer endurance. These pegasi can stay aloft for weeks, diving into the sea for fish or ocean plants to eat.

Quick visual - Thoroughbreds or arabians with seabird wings.

Shortwing Pegasi

Calm and huggable, shortwings are the draft horses of the Sky Cowboys world. These are flightless pegasi (since their wings are so small), but are still very useful on the ground like for all sorts of things from riding to pulling wagons to working in farm fields.

Shortwings tend to have colorful/fancy plumage.

Quick visual - Percherons or clydesdales with songbird wings.

Scrapwings

These little guys are feral - no one has really domesticated them. Partly because they're difficult to work with and partially because no one really sees a point. They're all-around too small to be useful and tend to just get into stuff. At least they're cute!

Quick visual - Zebra/quagga or donkey with dodo wings.

Yes, I will assist all "Most Wanted" backers should they need it. That said, I don't want to hinder creativity so there is a fine line between canon and having fun.

Are shortwings such as the draft peacock unable to fly?

And have you made a masterpost in the past about the 3 categories of peg? I'd love to see them compared and contrasted!

Hello!

Correct, shortwings are unable to preform sustained flight. They can do big jumps and short glides but no actual flying.
