So how goes work on The Aeronauts?

Have a look! These are some snippets from the last few months.

It’s sitting at about 150K words and 460 pages.

I vastly underestimated what my final word and page count would be as I thought the final count would be under 500 pages. I am thinking the final page will be around 650 but it could go as high as 700. It’s hard to say at this point.

Then comes the edits! I’m hoping to be doing my content and mechanical edits by year’s end with my beta readers getting their copies by spring.

Very exciting! Even though it’s happening 500 words at a time.

Pinocchio being forced to watch the horrific display of one his friends being turned into a donkey. Followed up with a scene of the rest of his donkey friends being sold into slavery.

A scene in Gravity Falls where a kid gets eaten by a monster made of black licorice and candy corn while the same kid said he was traumatized at the end of the episode.

Mr. Incredible finding out that all his closest friends had died horrifically to the clutches of a mad man.

Mufasa getting thrown off a cliff by his brother, trampled to death by wildebeests and having Mufasa’s corpse poked and prodded by Simba.

A scene in the Star Vs. The Forces of Evil series finale, where a character blows up into purple confetti, while everyone around him SCREAMS IN HORROR! I AM NOT MAKING THIS SHIT UP!

Santa Claus getting tortured by Oogie Boogie in The Nightmare Before Christmas.

The Toys in Toy Story 3 holding hands and accepting their fate of being fed to an incinerator.

Imply that Eugene from Tangled is going get hanged as punishment for stealing a tiara. And after he escapes that, he gets shanked by a bitch and actually dies! (It for a minute and a half, sure, but still.)

Have Skinner take advantage of Linguini while he’s drunk off of wine.

The Horned King from The Black Cauldron.

A scene in Gravity Falls where Mr. Northwest has the functions of every hole in his face get shuffled like a deck of cards.

Cassandra’s arm getting dissolved in Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure.

The entirity of “Night on Bald Mountain.”

The anglerfish from Finding Nemo

The frogs of Amphibia accepting the idea that they’re going to die, and say potential goodbyes to each other.

A scene where Vasquez from Big City Greens says that he’s going to go back to being in the secret service. Which is followed up with a fantasy sequence of him SNAPPING A GUYS NECK AND HIDING THE BODY IN THE BUSHES! AGAIN, NOT MAKING THIS SHIT UP!

And the episode “Northwest Mansion Mystery” from Gravity Falls. Which has a scene where mounted animal heads are speaking a demonic language, while blood is dripping out of their eyes, mouths, and noses. And while that’s going on, a flaming skeleton with an ax in his forehead is coming out of the fireplace as if he’s crawling out of the pits of Hell itself. Once he’s completely out, his body tissue reforms and he summons another ax, that is implied to be used on a twelve-year-old girl…A TWELVE-YEAR-OLD GIRL!

You approved of ALL OF THAT, and yet parents still haven’t come down on you for bat-shit crazy y'all are. And if you can do that, then for once-just fricken' once-you can throw a certain group a bone and allow this:

If you could go to DC Studios right now and pitch an idea for a movie or TV series, whether for the DC Universe franchise or as an Elseworlds project, what would it be?

Oh this is easy (he says after forgetting to check this inbox for months)

I would want a murder mystery crossed over with a heist movie set in Vegas starring Zatanna.

The victim would be Dr. Fate (who is definitely not dead but it sure seems like he is)

As for the the villain; that’s the one element I can’t really pin down. There’s almost too many to choose from. Part of me really wants to place her against someone she doesn’t normally face to really play up her powe set.

Kinda like for my book I have some rescue scenes where I asked: “who is the best person for this rescue and how do I keep them from actually performing the rescue”

When that’s settled, I ask

“Ok now who is the worst possible person to do this rescue and how do I make them seem like the obvious choice all along when the dust settles.”

hey so ive been thinking about something

in this hallucination or whatever it was..

the fire started from blitz’s hand.

a physical representation of how he feels it’s his fault. that he caused the fire..when in reality, it was an accident.

all the people he’s hurt - fizzaroli, i’m sure - have convinced him that the fire practically came from his hands.

so when millie finds him and tries to see what’s wrong, touching him in the process..

so he panics and pushes her away, afraid that he might hurt her, too.

I just reada really good fic but halfway through I realized "oh shit this is really familiar.... didn't I write something like this once?" And as I kept reading I kept predicting what happened next and the further I went the more convinced I was that they'd ripped off my story-

like, copied the ENTIRE plot and re-written it, just better than I had? The characters were more fleshed-out than mine were, and the POV was more interesting, and the pace made more sense- but it was MY STORY?

So close to the end I was like "holy shit.. do I message them? Ask if my story inspired theirs? Should I be angry? Flattered?" Cause their tags and description didn't mention me AT ALL, which, sure, it's fanfiction to begin with, but if you're using my work than at least credit me as inspo, right? Just to be courteous?

But I get to the end of the final chapter, and it's not finished, and I'm kind of disappointed cause I never finished my story and I was really immersed in their version now and had been looking forwards to seeing how they tied up my loose ends- so I scroll to the bottom to leave a comment, and.

Storytelling Moments That Will Stay With Me

Spoilers for ALL of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury!

What do you get when you cross William Shakespeare's The Tempest with a dash of Top Gun and a heap of anime high school shenanigans? You get Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury! Confession time: I had never seen a Gundam series before. At least not from start to finish. I got glimpses of Gundam Wing when I was kid but it always started too late for me to actually watch more than a few minutes of an episode before I was sent to bed. Recently, a friend recommended this series as the starting point when i admitted I had been looking to finally jump into this iconic series for the first time. Having just finished it last night I can say I was not disappointed.

The show perfectly blends political intrigue, romance, and high school coming of age drama into one cohesive story that goes by fast but feels satisfying when it reaches it's end.

That is, in large part, all thanks our lead characters: Suletta Mercury and Miorine Rembran.

Referred to affectionately as Space Luz and Space Amity by my friend and I.

Suletta is naive but eager to get out into the world and make a difference, eager to make friends, go on dates and make her family proud . All while Miorine is more closed off, keeping to herself and looking to break away from the life that has been meticulously planned out for her.

When the two cross paths, they irrevocably change the other's life. Miorine gets Suletta to think for herself and be more confident while Suletta gets Miorine to open up to others and start going after what she really wants in life rather than just running away.

They both stumble and fall through the series, hurting themselves, their friends, family and even one another but they find their way to a better future together.

Yeah its a story that's been done 1000 times before and probably will be done a 1000 times more. There's a reason for that though.

It's always fun to see it unfold, especially when done well.

Suletta caps off her journey by doing the impossible and saving lives with the help of war machines. All without firing a shot, and using her connections to those around her to help her bear a terrible burden that had destroyed the bodies and souls of so many who came before her. Miorine mirrors her ascendancy in her own way, taking a stand against the forces who have been scheming against her and her friends since day one and beating them at their own game. Finally breaking a cycle of violence that had started long before she or Suletta was born. It was a beautiful moment to see them both come full circle and change the world they live in for the better or as Suletta would put it:

"Running gets you one, but if you can move forward you gain two! When you run away you get one by not losing. However when moving forward, whether you win or not, there are two things you gain. Experience and pride, not to mention trust!"

Which speaks to the larger themes of the show. In a world world filled with corporate conspiracies, increasing class divides, and armed conflict on an increasing scale: trust is a powerful tool in building a better future for all. That’s why ALL of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury will be a storytelling moment that will stay with me!

Progress on my book has slowed a bit but i’m still working on it. I have a TON of ideas for both Hug It Out series and I do plan on working on them once my book enters the editing phase to give myself a break.
