Yeknow when you're working on something creative and you can FEEL an artist-skill level up around the corner? I feel like I'm getting near that with DMing, just like when I discovered proactive DM voice. It's not complete yet but it's circling around my brain like a marble rolling around a funnel.

I'll save the gritty details for when I've got more concrete words to explain it, but suffice to say it's a methodology of what to prep/how to run a d&d session to not only make things the most enjoyable but also get the most out of your time both at and away from the table. Surprising no one, running 4~ sessions a week has made me have to get really efficient at how I plan things.

It's a bit like how when I started writing I often oscillated between page-sprawling rambles and not being able to generate anything of substance. Eventually I tried and failed enough to work out an underlying structure for what makes GOOD writing.

The last few krakens and giant squids I saw in any media had entirely soft suckers like an octopus so now I'm wondering something. Giant squid generally have "tooth lined" suckers, and the colossal squid's two longer tentacles have suckers that evolved into full blown claws all over them.

The thing is you read too much 19th century Brit Lit and that’s literally just how you start to talk. Was speaking with a friend about another friend and I said “he’s very agreeable, but he lacks discernment” like that was in any way a normal way to phrase that sentiment.
