Absolutely agreed with every point you made in your reblog, especially the Cashe stuff.

As much you are Ashe centric I am Cassidy centric, and I would have personally been pissed if Cassidy was mentioned more then he actually was in this story. I got my content of him from Ana and Jack's story which meant a lot more to me then anything that could have been said in Ashe's story.

They both need to be seen as their own characters instead extensions of one or the other. Especially Ashe, as the community just has seen her as "Cassidy's love interest", I think it's gotten a lot better since Ashe was introduced but that doesn't erase the fact that it still happens.

100% AGREE‼️ sometimes i worry that’s how my account comes off because i’ve mainly posted cashe content here but i am a huge fan of ashe as an individual and cassidy… i love him but not in the same way as i love ashe

she’s either seen as a love interest, an extension of his backstory, or someone to hate him/for him to hate, which really sucks!! she’s an awesome individual but it’s also a fault of the writers as she has 0 canonical connections to any in game characters except cassidy and few pre-game interactions.

deadlock rebels is hardly known even by ashe .. fans .. (yes i’m calling you posers) so the new short story is a good opportunity for people to read about her, see how she interacts with other members of the gang, and get deeper into her mind and appreciate her more rather than treating her like she’s only part of cassidy.

with all this stuff coming out for her, i really am hoping they have plans for her lore wise to integrate her into the lives of other characters

ashe losing her cool over the degrading things about omnics was absolutely deserved

i also liked seeing the viper used as a hand to hand weapon rather than just a gun

and obviously while i am a huge cashe & cassidy fan i am honestly really glad he wasn’t mentioned much, it’s really nice to see ashe get more individual characterization instead of being treated like an extension of cassidy.

I took awhile to respond to this but I do now have Hero's Ascendant and I am working on posts for it now but it will be awhile till I post info, mostly because I am focusing on other things including the new Mirrorwatch universe.

But for now I'll give you some notes on what happens;

Ashe is a good leader of the Deadlock gang and anyone who says otherwise are idiots.

We witness an Omnic die (don't worry, it's not B.O.B or Bars)

Ashe and Bob are the best farther daughter duo

Ashe's parents were always neglectful pieces of shit, the Crisis and the success they got from it didn't change them

Ashe's is definitely not going to side with Talon if she finds out about their involvement with Null Sector, even if she doesn't I think she'd still not join them and find most of them annoying

Frankie and Benz are still with Deadlock, just running different factors of it, that being the reason we haven't seen them. Though hopefully with their mentions in this short story there will be mentions of them in game.

Not much Cashe content but Ashe is still mad about the bike, as well this short story confirms that they haven't seen each other since the Reunion cinematic.

Casheji (basic name combination)

BikerBlade (cause Deadlock is a biker gang and Genji has a sword)

ScarletPast (Cause all of them have a bloody past and they all have had a red theme at some point)

WesternNinja (cowperson x ninja)

i hate thanksgiving it sucks but anyways deadlock rebels thanksgiving

everyone gets gifts and bob makes a shit ton of food. ashe bakes because its the only thing she can do without burning the base down.

in later years cassidy comes around again and he tells new recruits stories of all the bullshit he got away with when he was still in the gang every thanksgiving. He also brings homemade pumpkin pie which is the only reason ashe lets him in
