love this idea fr
okay so if I’m being brutally honest, I never liked caretaker and whumpee in a romantic relationship
Okay I want to try something
First person says something they like about the whump community, or whump in general.
Next person says something they don't. The next says something they like again, and the next one something they dont like. Etc etc.
Rule: Personal preferences only, not allowed to be mean or rude, or personal attacks! Stay respectful!
So: "I dislike stoic whumpees" is okay!
But "I dislike stoic whumpees, they're stupid and dumb" is not!
Be nice, or... I can't do much about it but be nice :D
(Feel free to explain why you like or dislike something!)
----------
First: I love defiant whumpees!

"Where Am I?"
Part One Part Two
Tw: mean caretaker
Whumpee noticed that something was off when his hand brushed against something soft. Nothing in his cell was soft.
He opened his eyes to scan the surroundings, looking for ways to escape, defend himself, and any cameras.
There were many ways to escape...a window, a door, and if he got desperate, a vent. Whumper would never be this careless.
The chain that was once tight around his arms is now gone, and the only constriction he can feel is the bandage around his leg.
"Took you long enough."
Caretaker's voice made Whumpee's head whip around. "Excuse me?"
"You were asleep for a while. Had me a bit concerned."
"Where am I?" Whumpee's heart almost jumped out of his chest when Caretaker's arm gestured around the room.
"You're in a house. You're in a bedroom. I'm standing here. Can you put it together now?"
"So you took me to your house?"
"Did you think I live in a cave?"
Suddenly everything near Whumpee felt grimey. The fluffy blanket that he'd been holding dropped to the ground, and the comforter was lifted off his legs as Whumpee curled up against the wall.
"You work for Whumper. I have no idea how twisted you might be." Whumpee whispered this as he held his hands against his chest; the only type of comfort he'd ever been able to receive.
"Okay, well, for your information, I took you to my home, so I can't be that twisted."
"How many people did it take for that to happen?"
"Well, they deserved it." Caretaker crossed his arms as he shrugged his shoulders.
"And I did?"
"I-" Caretaker paused for a second before turning his back to Whumpee. "You know what? Forget it. I took you to my home, set you up in a nice room, and this is the way you treat me? If you want to apologize, I'll be in the kitchen making us dinner."

"He Ran."
Part One
Caretaker wasn't used to making irrational decisions. 99.9% of the time, he followed the rules. When you follow the rules, it makes things less complicated. Simply follow the rules regardless of your personal feelings.
So, when he was ordered to take Whumpee to die, there shouldn't have been room for judgment.
Then why is Whumpee in the backseat of his car?
Caretaker took his eyes off Whumpee's bundled form to answer a call from Whumper.
"Whumpee never made it to the compound."
Hearing Whumper's voice made Caretaker's drop to his stomach as he scrambled for a reasonable answer.
"Yeah, well, he ran."
"He ran?"
"Yeah...I dropped the chain to look at the wound, and he took off."
"How'd he take off with that wound?"
"Because it wasn't even that bad." His voice shook from all of the emotions piling on top, and Caretaker had to fight for his composure.
"Whumper, listen. Whumpee's wound wasn't as bad as you thought. He ran off when I was on the phone with you, and now I'm circling the woods trying to find him."
"Oh you are? What a loyal employee I have on my hands." Caretaker could hear the facial expressions Whumpe was making. "Since you're so loyal, don't bother showing up to work until you find it."
The other end went silent, and Caretaker flicked his eyes up to look at Whumpee.
"So are you gonna turn me in?" Whumpee rested his head on the car window and continued to admire the landscape outside.
"No, I'm not." Caretaker pulled into his driveway before turning in his seat to properly face Whumpee. "And he's not coming after you either. Not unless he wants to wind up dead."

"Get. Up."
TW: implied potential death/starvation
Caretaker had been working with Whumper for just over five years; he knew how things operated and how he handled nuisances like Whumpee. So when Whumper asked Caretaker to transfer Whumpee, it really wasn't a big deal. They both knew where Whumpee was going.
And that's how Caretaker ended up with Whumpee on a chain as they trekked through the forest.
"Whumper couldn't have had you drive me there?" Whumpee huffed from behind.
"Why? Do you honestly think that you deserve a rest?" Caretaker didn't bother to look behind him as it had been going like this for quite some time.
"After all the shit Whumper has put me through, yeah, I do."
"'All the shit,' do you mean putting a roof over your head and making sure you were fed?"
"You think he fed me?"
Caretaker didn't bother answering Whumpee. He knew that Whumper would occasionally starve him, but in all honesty, it was hard to see Whumpee as anything more than some annoying prick.
"Can we at least stop?" The breathless question landed on deaf ears as Caretaker yanked on the chain in his hand.
"No."
Caretaker tried to walk forward but felt the chain snag back. When he turned, Whumpee was on the ground with the leaves.
"Get up, Whumpee. I want to get home before it's dark." Caretaker gave another hard yank on the chain, which just pulled on Whumpee's arms. "Get. Up. Unlike you, I actually have a place to go back to, okay?"
Whumpee didn't respond, not with his usual snark.
Caretaker waited for a second before approaching Whumpee, taking notice of how bruises had started to form on his arms from the chain.
"Whumpee." Caretaker shook his body, and Whumpee's eyes opened just a sliver.
"Oookay...okay." Caretaker dropped the chain as he reached for his phone to call Whumper. "Hey, Whumper?"
"Yeah, what do you want?"
"Whumpee is down in the forest right now...I don't know what's wrong with him. I promise I didn't do anything, he just-"
"Oh no Caretaker it's fine, I know."
"You know?"
"Yes...Whumpee got a bad wound this morning that why I needed to get rid of him. A toy is no fun while he's healing."
"So what do you want me to do?"
"Nothing. If he refuses to stand, simply drag him. It'll make no difference; he'll be dead in a few hours."
Caretaker's heart dropped as he watched Whumpee turn his head into the dirt to conceal his tears.
"Okay. I'll make sure he gets there." Caretaker hung up the phone and put a hand on Whumpee's shoulder. "Listen, please get up. I really, really don't want to drag you."
A shaky breath left Whumpee, but he also gave no indication of standing up.
"Whumpee, please. Don't you want this to be over soon?"
At that, Whumpee turned his head to look up at Caretaker. His dirt-stained cheeks had tear tracks that went over his hollow cheek bones.
Caretaker left out a long sigh before lifting Whumpee in his arms and going back to the employee parking area.
"Where are you taking me?" Whumpee mumbled under Caretaker's chin
"I'm going to help you."

"Easy, Easy, it's Okay,"
When Caretaker opened the door, cold air hit them in the face. Caretaker took their time scanning the cell; their eyes examining the metal bars that allowed the frigidness to enter and the concrete walls that added to Caretaker's feeling of disgust. Nothing in there gave hints of human life, and yet...
Caretaker gasped and almost dropped their gun when they saw a chain connected to the wall that disappeared into a small, human body shivering.
A shaky breath leaves Caretaker as they slowly approach; holstering their weapon when they let their knees hit the ground. "Hey, um, I'm Caretaker. Can you turn over for me? Please?"
Whumpee gave no indication of hearing them, so Caretaker knelt with hesitant hands hovering inches away. "I can...turn you over? If you're unable?"
Caretaker's heart sank when Whumpee let out a high-pitched whine from their warm hand settling on their shoulder.
"Easy, easy, it's okay." Caretaker wrapped his arm around Whumpee's body and pulled him into his lap for more warmth.
Whumpee immediately relaxed in Caretaker's hold and started sobbing from relief.
"Sh sh, I know, I know, it's all alright now." Caretaker started rocking and rubbing Whumpee's back. "You're safe."

If you could pick a three tropes to fit in one fic what would they be? (i.e. touch starved + beaten + whumpee turned caretaker)
Oooo okay so after a lengthy debate in my head, I thiiiink that Imma go with
Whumper turned Caretaker+ touch starved Whumpee+ neglected Whumpee
Cause just a good ol' Whumperrealizing that they went too far or they're the best person Whumpee has ever met is just too good
(I'll be so honest it took me so long to debate on my favorite this was a really good ask thank you)

Hmmm favorite whump trope? (medical, pet, recovery etc...)
Also, physical restraints vs sedation, which one's better? 👀✨
@f1sh-bone
Oooo okay these are really good questions
I looooove the recovery trope in whump; like the Whumpee is so incredibly vulnerable in that moment 'n just wonderful
I was about to say physical restraints hand down but now I'm debating it and
I love physical restraints when Whumpee is held captive cause then you've got the whole fighting against the restraints BUT then you've got sedatives to take the fight out of a defiant Whumpee
So I'd have to say physical restraints first, let Whumpee fight them, then sedate the Whumpee
Thank you so much for the questions I loved it

Om gosh yes I'd love questions
Reblog if people can always jump in your ask with random whump questions!
(Not even all big questions. Things like. 'Poison or drugs?' Or something random like that! Interaction!)

A hero infiltrating supervillain’s base only to find a severely malnourished and miserable villain cleaning the floors.
They lock eyes and there’s a dead glint in villains gaze.
Hero is horrified. “I- I thought you were second in command.”
Villain slowly stands up, the chain on their ankles rattling. “I was. Until I let you go.”
A heartbeat of a pause. An almost apologetic look. “I can’t show you mercy again. Not now, not ever.” And then they call for Supervillain.

This is wonderfully written actually
Injured and scared whumpee who has to be held down and blindfolded while receiving medical treatment, and after a while they stop thrashing around, quietly shivering instead..
When caretaker gently takes off their blindfold, the whumpee's eyes are still locked shut.
They try to comfort them, but whumpee just flinches at the touch.

"Stay Here,"
Whumpee's eyelids cracked open enough for them to see Caretaker popping their magazine into place and placing the gun into the holster.
"M..what are you doing?" Whumpee slurred their words but Caretaker could make out what Whumpee was trying to say.
Caretaker took small strides over to Whumpee's small, tucked-in form and laid a hand in their hair. "I'm going to be gone for a little while to take care of some things. Everything that you could need is on the table."
And Caretaker wasn't lying...on the coffee table Whumpee could see pain meds, another blanket, water, and a landline. Caretaker grabbed the landline and placed it into an exposed hand.
"If anybody tries to come in here, you call me, okay? Stay here, don't follow me anywhere."
Whumpee nodded, tugging the blanket tighter around their head.
Even after knowing that Whumpee is safe, Caretaker's heart still sank every time they saw them like this. The small cuts on Whumpee's face and neck were fading, and eventually, they'd be gone, but the looming fear of this happening again haunted Caretaker, and it'd always be a fear until they took care of the cause.

"I Didn't Mean to,"
Whumpee sobbed as their shaking fingers grabbed pieces of porcelain. Blood dripped onto the floor from the sharp edges.
Heavy boots were coming down the hall and Whumpee tried moving faster; no doubt that Whumper would be pissed that Whumpee broke his plate. Whumpee swallowed when the boots stopped in front of them.
"Uh oh, what happened, Whumpee?" Whumper's voice was an eerie type of calm.
Whumpee tried to still their breathing so that they would be slightly coherent: "I...I broke a plate. I promise that I didn't mean to though! It...it just slipped from my hands when I was putting dishes away and I tried to clean it up. Not to hide the fact that I dropped it just-"
"Hey hey, it's all okay." Whumper's hand rubbed the back of Whumpee's neck and they froze; waiting for Whumper to slam their head into the floor. "Can you look up for me, Whumpee?"
Whumpee tilted their head up and was met with minty green eyes. That's odd...as far as Whumpee knew Whumper had cold and distant blue eyes that would stare into their soul. As far as Whumpee knew, Caretaker had the minty green eyes.
Whumpee blinked again and looked into his eyes. The eyes definitely belonged to Caretakeer, but then, why were they in Whumper's kitchen?
"You aren't there anymore, Whumpee." Caretaker's hand moved to Whumpee's shoulder as he pulled them into a much-needed hug.

"-Whumpee is freezing by now-"
Part One, Part Two
Caretaker took the meal that they had set out for Whumpee and put it in the fridge. Whumpee had been out on their own for roughly 2 hours now, and Caretaker didn't know at what point they should get worried.
Caretaker grabbed their phone to see where Whumpee was now, but they saw...
Nothing.
The dot representing Whumpee was gray and stopped at where the trees and sidewalk met.
Caretaker sat there for a minute hoping that maybe, just maybe Whumpee had enough common sense to stay away from the woods when it's dark and rainy. However, when Whumpee's cat is involved they'd make the most irrational decisions.
Taking a deep, irritated sigh Caretaker stood up and grabbed their keys, and then stopped by the coach to grab Whumpee a blanket. No doubt that Whumpee is freezing by now.

Whumpee Was Terrified
Part one
Whumpee kept his head up as he looked for his cat, Roxy. There was no way that he would simply abandon his cat when she'd been there for him.
Caretaker could do whatever he wanted.
The walking path Whumpee was on led him into the forest, and he figured that if Roxy was scared enough, she'd go anywhere.
The forest was dense, and all the leaves around him shook in the storm. The only source of light came from Whumpee's phone flashlight as he scanned the forest floor. Water glistened on the grass beneath his feet as Whumpee walked along.
In all honesty, Whumpee was terrified. He'd always had a fear of the dark, and being in a forest during a storm wasn't helping.
With shaky hands, Whumpee pulled out a bag of Roxy's favorite treats and shook them. Having no response, Whumpee kept on walking while shaking the bag and calling for his cat, only stopping when he had to steady himself on a tree.
Whumpee's coordination grew worse with each step, and every now and then he'd look back forgetting why he was there.
Whumpee came to a halt when he got to the river, and analyzed the best way to get over. He hesitantly put his foot on a mossy rock, and just as he was lifting his other foot to join, he lost balance and his whole world went black.

"So What? You're Just Giving Up?"
Caretaker turned around to Whumpee, and Whumpee could see that his hair was clinging to his forehead from the rain and his eyes were all scrunched up. Whumpee figured that he looked just as bad.
"Whumpee, we need to go back. Roxy will come back all on her own." Whumpee's beloved cat, Roxy, had run away when Whumpee had the door open for a minute too long. Caretaker and Whumpee had spent 3 hours walking up and down streets looking for her.
"So what? You're just giving up?"
"I'm not giving up, Whumpee. I'm just...look there's no use in looking for her now. She's probably hiding under something away from the storm like we should." Caretaker walked up to Whumpee, and Whumpee jerked his arm back when Caretaker tried to lay a comforting hand.
"Well, I'm going to keep looking. My cat is out here, probably terrified, and I just can't leave her in a time of need." Whumpee shouldered his way past Caretaker; leaving him standing there in the rain wondering if he should pursue.

Caretaker who is rescuing Whumpee, but Whumpee is so out of it they don't recognize them.
Caretaker needing both of them to be quiet, and dragging Whumpee behind a wall, holding them down against Caretaker's chest and holding a hand over Whumpee's mouth.
Caretaker feeling Whumpee's panicked fight, too weak to do anything but still trying. Their too fast breathing from their nose, the whimpers that slip through anyway, their hands pushing against Caretaker's arms...
Caretaker feeling so guilty, but the alternative is being found, so there is no choice. Whumpee will know who they are soon and forgive them.
Right?

"I Don't Wanna Die."
Whumpee's hands clawed at their wound. Blood was still gushing from in between their fingers and Whumpee was starting to panic. They could hear Caretaker on the phone with 911; urging them to hurry.
There was so much blood and Whumpee didn't know what to do. Their mind was blank. They knew to keep pressure on it, but there was just so much blood and Whumpee couldn't concentrate. Caretaker hung up the phone and came back to where Whumpee was. They saw that Whumpee's hands were starting to loosen up, and more blood continued to leak out from their abdomen.
"Hey hey hey, you've gotta put pressure on it." Caretaker rushed over and replaced Whumpee's hand with their own. "I've called 911, and they're coming to help us, okay?"
Whumpee stared up at Caretaker with glossy eyes. Their mind was starting to go fuzzy, and Whumpee felt exactly how they did after that 2-mile run. The panic Whumpee was feeling grew ten-fold.
"I don't wanna die," Whumpee whispered. "Please, please don't let me die."
"I won't let you die Whumpee, I promise." Caretaker met Whumpee's fear-filled eyes, and behind the calm, stoic front Caretaker put on, Whumpee could see their fear too.
