CHIM: I have picked the night before my wedding for my bachelor party so that half the wedding party will be hungover during the ceremony.
EVERYONE, for some unknown reason: Sounds great! Good plan!
*some later*
EVERYONE: *gasp!* This was not a good plan!

Rewatching Stuck and crying over good-dad Eddie Diaz and the difference in their bedrooms when they first move to LA.
Like this is Chris’s room:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s absolutely FULL of stuff. He’s got fun rugs, art, shelves, trophies, a terrarium, a LITTLE FIRE FIGHTER OUTFIT, stars and decorations on his dressers, a desk, a little basketball hoop, embroidered pillows. There is nothing Chris doesn’t have in here. Eddie bought this kid everything he needed and made sure his room felt special and fun and homey. And this is during Stuck, so there’s no Carla, no Buck, no Shannon helping him out. This room and everything in it was all Eddie who made sure his son has an awesome fun room with anything he needs in the city they just moved to.
And this is Eddie’s room:

Even for a guy who was in the military, this room is barren. No shelves, no decorations, no photos, a single mirror on the wall, no books, no art, nothing that would have taken any time or extra expense to put up. Now we know Eddie isn’t a guy lacking personality – he likes baseball, and has photos on his fridge and his living room, he has themed holiday pillows for the couch, he has a fucking personality, except he doesn’t here because his sole focus right now is taking care of his son so he hasn’t spent a single second worrying about the room Chris doesn’t go in and I am crying at self-sacrificing Eddie spending the few dollars he has as a probationary firefighter who just moved to LA to take his kid shopping for desks and rugs and shelves and buying nothing for himself but the barest necessities. Frank absolutely had Eddie pegged when he said he manages other people’s pain and never his own and this is just another example of Eddie sacrificing pieces of himself for his son.
Ask me again why I love him.

Okay. I'm about to say something that's probably going to get me run out of the fandom, but.
I don't actually think Tommy leaving their date early had anything to do with him not wanting to pressure Buck (regardless of what he claimed later). Instead, I think it had everything to do with Tommy being annoyed and no longer into it that evening, and I think that is both okay AND significantly more interesting than taking him at his word later and framing it as some selfless act by a sanitized elder gay shepherd just trying to do right by Buck.

Every 911 fan vid maker from now on, when trying to decide if their masterpiece is finished or not:
"Hmm... this is good. But is it 'makes Oliver cry in the shower' good?"

I know we're all very excited about all of Oliver's interviews, but the next episode isn't about buddie or bucktommy - it's about Maddie and Chim getting married after years of love and pain and loss and hope.
It's about Maddie marrying a man who loves her, who respects her, who trusts her, who doesn't control her, who wants Maddie to just be Maddie.
It's about Chimney marrying a woman who loves him, who values him for exactly who he is, who laughs at his jokes, who overcame hell and came out the other side a little battered and bruised but still alive, who loves him for exactly who is he and has never once asked him to change.
It's about a couple who fought through abusive ex-husbands and near death experiences and PPD and breaking up but still loving each other so much and getting back together because being apart was never going to work for them.
It's about a family that deserves happiness finally getting to celebrate that after years of so much drama.
So again, I know we're all excited about the buddie and bucktommy of it all, but let's not forget what 7x06 is about - Maddie and Chimney getting married.

If nothing else, the main takeaway from all this information Oliver has shared the past few days should be that a lot of people fought like hell to tell our stories—queer stories. Queer people fought like hell behind the scenes on the front lines of a power-struggle we weren't even fully aware of, and the level of gratitude I feel toward those folks is immeasurable.

just rewatched that scene in 4.4 where chimney's like "it reminded me of when i was a kid trying to be strong for his mother while some doctor explained cancer to us" and like... the thought that little howie figured out pretty quickly that if he could crack jokes, if he said the right words, words that were goofy enough pr dramatic enough, he'd get his mom to smile and that made her a little less sad, a little less burdened. the thought that chimney carries around this part of himself that makes jokes not only to deflect from his own pain but to alleviate others' as well. that it's him trying to be strong for them.

Ha ha ha, it looks like I am very out of step with most people. It'd be different for me if Buck has asked Tommy to call him Evan, but the constant Evan-ing unprompted creeps me out when I want to like Tommy.

I couldn’t sleep at 3am and remembered how prominent loneliness was for Eddie at the end of last season, and that he admitted to Pepa that he didn’t want to be alone. And that in this last episode after Marisol got out of bed, he put his hand where she’d been lying and smiled, followed by Bobby saying, “You haven’t really talked about her in a way that would make me think you’re considering cohabitating.” Which was followed by Eddie talking about how much he loved being married to Shannon.
So there’s probably a good possibility that Eddie isn’t into Marisol as much as he thinks, he’s into being in a relationship. And in some part of his mind, being in a relationship with someone whose past makes him uncomfortable to the point of avoiding his own home is better than being alone.
There's also the fact that in his mind, Eddie still equates dating with marriage on some level.
And that he probably blames himself for Chris' belief that the women in his life will always leave.
On an unrelated note, anyone else wondering if we'll see the panic attacks return this season after two mentions in five episodes?
