am i perhaps taking shit too serious if i say that lowkey it's kind of tired and broke that Sentry's whole thing is he can't just be a good guy, that there's a part of him that's evil and he cant be himself and be a hero and not be evil too?

personally, i think it's a bad mental illness allegory for it to be impossible to be Bob and Sentry, no Void, and that is there's no Void then there's also no Bob.

i just think that a better message would be to show that you can coexist with the darkness, and maybe you will always have to, but that doesn't mean you can't be a good person without it fucking everything up. like maybe people with trauma can heal and grow and be well adjusted idk

It's really embarrassing for me that I didn't get or missed the dialogue where Astarion tells you how he got turned so now I just look like an idiot 💔

my personal headcanon for Astarion's turning was that he was seduced by cazador, who i'm pretty sure is a well known arostocrat if not a noble in Baldur's Gate. Astarion, being a magistrate and possibly a little too confident for his own good, was both flattered and unsurprised by the propositioning of the handsome older, more powerful man. so they flirted that night, Asatarion making some bold moves that amused cazador more than anything, but not enough to endear Astarion to him. and just when cazador has coaxed Astarion to some dark, private corner of the city, he let's Astarion think it's going to be a good night before the ice cold, sharp pain of cazador szarr's venomous fangs sinking deep into Astarion's neck. It's in that moment that Astarion realizes he's been played for a fool, that he never had the upper hand. a part of him is embarrassed, but another louder part is crying out for mercy. he tries to fight cazador off but the shock allowed for the vampire to sap what strength Astarion might've had and it's all for naught. Astarion resigns to death, a painful and slow death.

Then he wakes up, and he wishes he had just died that night.
