Once she actually gets to sleep, she's a pretty decent sleeper. She's not easily stirred, but she'll crack an eyelid if the cat breaks a glass.

The getting to sleep is the problem. Isabel's mind kicks into overdrive once the rest of the world isn't around to distract her. She thinks a lot about mistakes. Regrets. What she's doing with her life. What the hell the cat is getting into in the living room. Etcetera.

Obligatory cats on account of the fact that she has one, but if we're talking the whole animal kingdom and including her inner child? Otters. Iz loves those little things. Oh to be a tiny otter, lying on one's back in the cool water...eating off one's belly...holding hands with one's buddies...

She's not opposed to travelling, but she's definitely more of a homebody. Would she hop on a plane for a tropical vacation given the opportunity? There's a medium to fair chance that yes, she would. Is she thrilled about flying cross-country on a work trip? Not really. She'd rather be at home in front of the TV.

I think it also depends on the method of travel too. Iz is probably more likely to enjoy a road trip over the hassle of air travel. There's music, for one. Loud music. And fresh air when the windows are down.

She's a bit of a musical chamelon. Iz will listen to just about anything that makes her brain buzz at a certain frequency. She probably knows pretty much everything on the Top 40, but you'll also catch her listening to a lot of alternative and indie tunes when left to her own devices.

She's definitely a music-while-working kind of gal, and can't clean the apartment without something playing in the background. When she used to commute for work, ear buds and some music were her saving grace around other irritating passengers on public transit.

🎄 CHRISTMAS TREE — what is your oc's favorite holiday?

Iz finds holidays difficult, mostly for family reasons. Her relationship with her parents is, at best, unpleasant, and childhood holidays were always a little lonely. It's hard for her to separate the memories from the holidays, even as an independent adult who can do whatever she wants and find joy however she sees fit.

That said, she loves Halloween. She thinks it's the most fun of the holidays. You will catch her dressing up even as a thirty-something grown woman. Let her wander through a haunted house. She deserves it.

i was tagged by my beloved @lilywatt (whom i feel holding a gun to the back of my head) to do something for the first time in like a year like a normal person so everyone say thank you macy.

rules: for each letter of the word you're given, share an excerpt from a wip that starts with that letter. the word i was given is SIGH.

S — Soap helps, but not much. She lathers her hands, scrubs until her skin feels raw and her cuticles start to tear, but Max’s blood lingers in the lines of her palms and deep under her fingernails.

I — It doesn’t have to be like this. Isabel knows that she could cut her losses and run from this man, that she could tell him to stay far, far away from her and that he would do so without question — that he would be relieved by the very suggestion.

But she doesn’t.

Loving him is a decision she makes, a conscious acceptance of everything he offers, both good and bad.

G — Grounding. It wades through the fog in his head and settles gently around the burning edges of his consciousness. It brings him back to the present.

“Olly.”

Hesitantly, he turns to her. Shame pulls at his gut, but for what, he can’t decide. For the drunkenness? For the vulnerability? For the inability to look her in the eyes?

H — He repeats the name in his mind like a mantra, a litany, a prayer, unaware that his scorched throat is choking desperately around the syllables.
