I am Tallow. Time is short. It often is, despite how it loves to drag its feet. Willow means no harm, I assure you. At times she may seem capricious, but she knows more than she seems to. [ Est. 8/5/14. Tracking solitaryplanes. ]

Tallow pressed gently onwards, his attention split between walking, making sure the gaunt woman at his side would not trip over, and watching her carefully in case she passed out. He almost let out a shocked laugh at her words, but limited himself to a sour smile.
The weary Traveller said nothing in response for a while, simply pondering. She was wrong, of course, completely so. But it made him wonder -- after all, despite his best efforts to avoid getting involved, he always seemed to end up deciding it was best if he kept an eye on things.
Everything that is done is a product of who we are, and what we were taught... and, to a lesser extent, what we learn as we progress.
“My world is not what any but themselves would term ‘kind’,” he said softly. Shaking his head, he returned his focus to the matters at hand. “We can indulge in idle chatter at a later time; right now, it is best we make our way to a relatively safe space.”
The frail figure at his side stumbled unsteadily onwards, and he kept pace, waiting for further direction. However hostile to her this place seemed, it appeared she at least knew it well. She appeared to not have eaten in quite some time, and he too was beginning to grow hungry. He would have to ensure he could prepare a simple meal for them, despite the sparseness of the supplies he kept on his person; he dared not leave this frail creature alone for too long.
Who knows how much longer she may survive if left alone?
Nikita’s jaw tightened at his disagreement, though she decided that pressing the matter further was not worth it. She was only a couple of words away from losing anything else her stomach might contain. No matter his kindness, the cambion was quite sure he would not be so eager to help if she vomited on him.
“Your world must be kinder than this if you are willing to help a stranger so readily.”
Her fingers wound into his clothing, and she couldn’t help but wince as her feet splashed into a deep puddle. The cold water soaked instantly through her clothing, leaving her shivering against him.
Her building was only a couple blocks away, but it seemed like an eternity.
It was amazing how much refuse had climbed back out of her system considering how little she had eaten since her own attempt to kill herself. Even as she took her hesitant steps forward, she could feel her stomach lurching again. Her steps froze momentarily as she swallowed down her bile. It would be dangerous to lose more fluids.
Her continuing steps became even slower after that as the world spun beneath her.
Instead of thinking about the spinning world, she briefly considered his words about his home. What did he mean by another world? Another country perhaps? Unless he was one of those that had all but vanished from the Earth in the past thousand years. Demons and angels, neither had been reliably seen in many years. Was that what he meant?
A demon surely would not take the time of day to assist the demon slayer herself. An angel then, perhaps, unless she misunderstood his meaning.
She did wish to inquire further, but she did not want to risk losing any control she maintained over herself. Instead, she merely waited for his response as she stumbled on ahead.

Tallow shook his head, rendered speechless for a brief moment. “Willow,” he growled. “We needed water. Alcohol is not a substitute -- we would die of dehydration within days.”
An impatient gesture back to the clear stream to the east was accompanied with the words, “Empty it out, and fill it with water.”
@solitaryplanes didn’t like anything i just love him but you can respond to or like something in here if you wanted a starter or were opening for an open

“What? Refilled the waterskin with alcohol? Now who – pfft – who would do something like that? That’s just – PURE EVIL! One of the EVILEST EVILS that ever EVILED. Almost as bad as stealing candy from children!” At that, she pops a lollipop into her mouth.

Tallow fell silent, savouring the chocolate. After all, Willow hardly gave anything away of her own will, regardless of whether she had stolen it or not; it seemed that even she would change over time.
It is far past time she started to seek out new modes of thought, indeed. She has been entirely too fixated on the mindset she was born with for the longest of times, and it is far too chaotic to serve her well.
Glancing at her, he offered her the last few pieces of the chocolate. “In case you did not think to keep some for yourself,” he explained, his attention momentarily diverted as his thoughts flitted back to another chaotic individual he had once known.
Willow’s eyes narrowed at him. “Not the first time I’ve called you that. Pretty sure it’s up there in the list of nicknames. Asshole, of course, being number one, Tal being two – and Mr. Doom and Gloom taking at least number thirty-six. At least.” And yes, if he asked, she’d come up with thirty-three other nicknames on the spot. Don’t think she couldn’t… or wouldn’t.
“My perspective is that you’re a hardass. Don’t think I’m the only one who sees things like that, either.” She crossed her legs as she watched him. “And yes, Hardass is number three.”
She rolled her eyes at the stealing from children and families comment, but for once, she didn’t fight. Maybe someone was having a positive influence on her…? Not that she’d admit it!

ofaxios:
These purple people were STRANGE to say the least. So far, he’s only met TWO, and BOTH of them seemed to be just as…. EMOTIONAL as each other. Unknowing of the circumstances surrounding their arrival aboard the Infinity Class Warship. BOTH of them were VERY lost, “Do you know where you are?” he asks, his head tilting to the side with a TOUCH of CURIOSITY, “Are you okay? I AM a Doctor.”

If the place he had alighted upon had ever mattered, Tallow could no longer recall; for what seemed like forever, he had simply been following Willow’s trail. Always a fair ways behind, never having the courage to catch up -- even when she was moving slowly enough for him to catch.
“Where I am is... irrelevant,” he said softly. “And thank you, but no; I am not injured.”

Tallow started to deny the accusation, then stopped -- more out of surprise that she had for once made a decent point than anything else. He shook his head slowly; she had a point, but at the same time she was missing the real point. “We cannot afford to, Willow,” he said softly. “Or have you forgotten that we are hunted?”
Until we are far enough away from our pursuers, we cannot afford to be carelessly enraptured in the worlds we pass through.
“If we are marked as strangers in a place that sees many, there is no issue,” he explained, sighing, “But if we involve ourselves in the events of the worlds, we may be remembered.”
He let out a long, slow breath; this train of thought was dredging up unwanted memories, of times when he wanted to be remembered. “Until we are sure your father’s lackeys have given up the chase, we cannot afford to leave a great many traces for them to follow, Willow... No matter how much I may wish to be deeply involved in the worlds we walk through.”

“I think I disagree a little bit.” Before he could fight her – “Just a little bit! I mean, for me, yeah. I gotta pay attention to my surroundings. I gotta figure out the language, what the people are like. The common rules. The society. That kinda shit. But you? You – you fucking hide in the shadows until we can Gate off. I mean – !” She gestured, now, around to his place of solitude… somewhere he had slunked off to while she threw herself into the world, as if presenting a silent example. “You don’t have to figure out anything. Just if you can breathe, and how you can get food. You should come with me, one day. Into a town. Figure things out with me.” Her voice gentled in the realization that she was, essentially, inviting him to do something he would reject rather immediately. “I mean – uh, I mean, if you want…”
Of course, Willow ignored that last statement. Perhaps I shall find out someday, if you allow me to. If she allowed him to! It was such a weird thought. That she had power over who knew her life and who knew her mask. It brought a smile small enough to brush off but large enough to be curious, at the very least.
