Happy valentines grimmons nation. Imo the perfect S19 grimmons ending wouldn't involve sweeping confessions or any words at all. If I could, I would magically insert a scene of Grif turning around and holding out his hand to help Simmons onto the transport (cuz, naturally, in this perfect shining world Simmons went with him), he'd haul him up & they'd have a silent moment of meaningful eye contact where neither of them pull their clasped hands apart as the transport lumbers up from the ground. Kind of a mirror to the Chex hand holding scene- one relationship finally, *finally* coming to its bittersweet end and another finally, *finally* having the chance to begin

Jayce and Mel falling apart because they both realized that they only wanted to be together to further their goals and that their goals and roles had changed. because when it came down to it, Jayce always focused on Viktor's disappearance, Viktor's presence, Viktor's work, Viktor's feelings. and Mel finally acknowledged that she had her own battles and her own ways to go, free from other people's expectations.

vs. Viktor telling Sky he'll miss her company and Sky saying "no, you won't," because Sky was only ever a warm person in a cold lab who probably tended to it more than Jayce was able to. just a figure to offer affection while Jayce was away. never a lab partner that Viktor had chemistry or care for, always a little distant, like their flashback scene.

and Jayce and Viktor meeting each other again at the end of it all, and Viktor asking why he bothers holding on for him, but Jayce always saw the beauty in him. he didn't need him to be perfect, to be better, to be brighter. he didnt care about a higher power or greater good. he just wanted him to live beside him.
