Headcanon: Sora is a nickname

//So I got maybe 3 hours of sleep last night and it's almost 1am here but just. Listen lol. Real quick.

In 2.5 re:coded Genie says 'hey you're not Al' and Sora is like 'my friends call me Sora'.

What a weird way to tell a person your name, right? Well not unless it's a nickname.

It would also make sense why he gets so upset when people get his name wrong. He picked it out himself. Maybe his real name is hard to say so he shortened it to make it easier on other people. So naturally he's pissed when people continue to get it wrong lol.

Anyway. Yeah. That's my 2 cents. I'll probably vanish again for another 3 years.

“NO!” He all but screeched, which probably didn’t help poor Sora’s pounding headache. 

 After his initial horror and mortification at the mere thought, he released a breath and flopped his head into his hand. “Clothes would be off,” he gestured tiredly to both their bodies. “Besides, there is no way I would sleep with another Sora, no matter how drunk I get.“

He brought his head back up, scowling once he realized his rather "chill” reaction to everything. “Good to see you're taking this so well.”

Sora’s head throbbed at Arias’s banshee-cry for an answer. He winced, clapping a hand over the ear closest to his twin. “Alright. Okay. If you say so,” Sora replied, his voice tight as if holding his breath would will away the ringing in his ears.

He had more quips, and was about to negate the other Sora’s explanation by commenting that people can and do have sex with their clothes on. However, given Arias’s reaction to a simple joke, and the pounding death march between his temples, he thought the better of it.

Sora laid back down on he bed, taking another look at the incriminating piece of paper. The pain in his head eased back down to a dull ache behind his eyes, and he couldn’t help but smirk at Arias’s growing stress levels.

“It’s hilarious,” Sora chuckled. “What? Don’t tell me you’re taking this seriously. Look, even if we did somehow, for some reason want this to be real I hear Vegas marriages only last a few weeks.They’re like, cursed or something. It’s funny.”

Sora wakes up pieces at a time, the first cue being a pounding headache. His limbs follow stiffly, one arm tingling with static numbness when he tries to move it from under his head.

He turns, seeing Arias’s fuzzy outline staring at his phone. Sora blinks, willing the image to come into focus, but once it does, he finds Arias wearing an expression he can’t read. Jeeze, what happened last night? Sora shuts his eyes tight, trying to pull some detail from his choppy memory. He remembers bright lights, more booze than he’s ever consumed in one sitting, a chapel-

Wait.

As if on cue his arm finally starts to regain sensation, and he feels a crumpled paper in his hand. He brings it to his face, eyes widening at the bold lettering of Certificate of Marriage, with both their names underneath.

Holy shit. 

Despite his lurching stomach and swimming vision, Sora huffs a laugh. What a way to spend his first time in Vegas.

“So, did we consummate this or..?”

It’s like a train wreck. He knows it’s bad but he just can’t look away.

How did this happen?

That’s him, that’s definitely him. He can’t even try to say it was another Sora because he’s literally the only one who looks like that, and he’s the one forcing himself onto the other hapless Sora.

Well, maybe not “force”, he seemed pretty into the kiss too. Granted, the camera kept shaking around so much it was hard to tell his face but it sure looked like he was enthusiastically reciprocating.

That wasn’t even the worst part and what had Sora A.’s attention. It was the piece of paper the keyblade hero was holding under all the kissing nonsense.

Certificate of Marriage.

If there was truly a God up above, then please let His divine mercy relieve him and kill him now.

they surprise him by jumping on to his lap when he's unoccupied, smiling as they hand him a bag of cookies she made herself. ` i've been trying to learn, but if you don't like 'em, there's always gift number two. ` she places a bow on her head and then kisses his nose. ` happy valentine's. `

It’s instinctive for him to lean forward and wrap his arms around her whenever she sits in his lap unannounced. Sora's hands are searching for hers when they come in contact with a bag instead, a small “Hm?” escaping him at the discovery.

What she says makes him laugh. Erin? Baking? Oh he has to try these first hand.

“These won’t kill me will they?” he teases, stuffing his hand inside the bag and popping one of the cookies in his mouth. He’s surprised to find that they don’t taste like ash, giving her his wide eyed approval while he chews. “Thank you,” he says, mouth full of cookie and scrunching up his nose when she kisses it. 

Sora kisses Erin’s cheek while she’s putting the bow on her head, always finding it particularly cute when she presented herself as his present for any holiday. He leans back, smiling warmly at his girlfriend, his best friend, and a slew of other things too encompassing to define.

“I know you’re comfy, but you’re gonna have to get off me if you want your present.”

He hadn’t been desperate enough to solicit Riku for help on what to get Kairi for Valentine’s Day. Not yet anyway. His mom had been helpful enough, offering much more information than he ever hoped to get in response to ‘what do girls like?’. 

One thing she said stood out to him though. ‘Get her something she can use,’ she’d said. ‘Something special. Girls are practical creatures too y’know!’

So he did. Nixing anything cliche like flowers or chocolate. Just as he was about to find Kairi and present his gift, he felt a tap on his shoulder. She’d gotten to him first.

Sora accepted the cookies and Heartguard with  a loopy smile. Leave it to Kairi to get him something that guarded his actual heart. Suddenly he didn’t feel like his gift was so cheesy in comparison. He’d opened his mouth to ask if she’d made the cookies herself, but her kiss, although brief, was enough to gently quiet those thoughts for the time being.

“Happy Valentine’s,” he replied, setting Kairi’s gifts aside so they could complete this exchange.

“Okay. Your turn now. Close your eyes.”

     KAIRI HAD HESITATED a little when it came to giving Sora his present, a little worried it wasn’t…romantic enough. She was pretty sure he didn’t have a Heartguard, and, sure, she’d mostly gotten it because it said heart, and that was…Valentine’s-y, but she still felt like it wasn’t enough.

     But, she supposed, Sora would be the judge of that.

      ❛ Hey, Sora? ❜

     She balanced the tin and the Heartguard so that she could tap him gently, smiling brightly when he turned to face her. She carefully passed everything into his hands, holding her own behind her back as she explained.

     ❛ The cookies are sugar, thought you might like ‘em! And the Heartguard’ll keep you nice and safe. ❜

     Kairi couldn’t help but giggle, blushing slightly before she leaned forward and gave him a quick kiss, her smile only wider once she pulled away.

    ❛ Happy Valentine’s Day! ❜
