hear me out- i know everyone expects rayla to be a good dragon guard and do her duties but i bet she would ditch that for a while to travel xadia with callum while he learns magic.

and if you look at her husband weird, she will cut off your leg, probably

i went back to the assassin colors because i think it just suits rayla so well. callum made her the horn cuffs, and she braided his hair. i also gave callum thigh high boots because he deserves to be a bit cunty too. overall, i like their current designs, and i wanted to just update it for their early 20s.

Rayla was far more worried about Callum than she really needed to be. She knew that. It was not rational.

She also 𝘬𝘯𝘦𝘸 Callum could take care of himself now. He had seemingly made it two years without her and had been just fine. He had grown to become a powerful mage, now being connected to 𝘵𝘸𝘰 primal sources.

However, 𝘯𝘰𝘯𝘦 of that stopped her anxiety that grew worse day by day.

She just wanted to keep him 𝘴𝘢𝘧𝘦. She wanted to protect him.

side note! i’m currently in the process of getting an ao3 account and i will be attempting to write one of my aus there so i can like. idk. share and receive feedback because i want it :3 i will say im not as experienced in writing as i am in drawing so bear with me 😭 im gonna be so honest, the one im gonna write first is a bit much but uhhhhhh its a lot of fun? it’s based on the tragedy of Julius Caesar so! ill probably make a post about it when i finish the first chapter or something but im also gonna attempt to make art for each chapter so that should be fun. anyway im kinda just rambling at this point but yeah

Soren carrying Ezran up to bed when he falls asleep somewhere else, Callum braiding Rayla’s hair when she’s had a bad day (even when she’s too shy to ask), Rayla tearing up when Ezran is finally taller than her and she has to look up to talk to him, Callum tucking Ezran into bed and waiting for him to fall asleep sometimes rubbing his back or arms if he’s stressed out, Soren and Rayla eventually tearfully opening up to each other about all the abusive behaviors and screwed up things that happened in their upbringing and bonding over mutual understanding, Callum and Rayla comforting each other when they wake up screaming and crying from nightmares, Callum constantly drawing Rayla and his breath catching in his throat in awe a little when he sees her in a dress for the first time, making little flower crowns for Ezran and him wearing them just because, Ezran stealing jelly tarts from the kitchen and Soren going along with him just for the fun of it, Rayla and Soren brutally roasting each other and flipping each other off while Opeli stares gasping in shock at this “improper behavior” but everyone else around is trying to hide their laughter, Rayla sleeping curled against Callum’s chest some nights, Callum and Rayla doing the stupidest harmless best friend shit for no reason and Opeli just rolling her eyes, Callum telling Ezran about the memories he has of their mother, having little picnics in the gardens outside the palace on some warm days, Callum wiping his thumbs lovingly over Rayla’s markings, Ezran crawling into their bed after he has a bad nightmare and promptly falling asleep cuddled in between them, Rayla and Soren sparring together routinely, Callum and Rayla running their fingers through each others hair and sometimes running their fingers through Ezran’s curls, Rayla and Ezran teasing Callum about something “inappropriate” and watch him get bright red and start sputtering which sends them off into peels of laughter at his awkwardness, Rayla doing the girlfriend pout (not that she would even need to do this, lets be so real right now 😅) and Callum giving her the last bite of his food, Callum and Ezran just randomly crying together sometimes over their father passing, Rayla telling Ezran stories about the Silver-grove trying not to let her voice crack but Ezran noticing anyway, giving Soren random hugs when he feels lonely or misses Claudia, Callum closing his eyes and turning away sometimes as Ezran gets older and pretending for a moment that his dad is still there, Ezran sitting behind a pillar in the ballroom and watching Callum and Rayla slow-dance and pretending for a minute he’s watching his mom and dad, sitting around the fire enjoying each others company, Callum and Rayla immediately knowing when something is wrong with the other person and learning communication together, Soren giving Ezran unsolicited first kiss/first date advice, Soren light-heartedly teasing Callum about his disastrous first kiss, Callum taking Ezran’s crown off on hard days and kissing the top of his head where it rests, everybody laughing uncontrollably about something that is not funny at all in the middle of horrendous stress and sleep-deprivation and that only makes it more funny. Shooting looks to kill anyone who’s crossed lines and hurt one of them. That fierce protective streak they all carry for each other. Holding each other while they sob not caring about the tears falling all over them. Sending each other pointed glances and smirks from across tables full of fancy dignitaries. Finding pretty flowers and giving them to each other just because.

 Impulsive hugs. Forehead kisses. Draping blankets over each other. Curling up on each others laps. Leaning heads on each others shoulders. Late night whispers. Tearing up with joy at milestones..

Everybody reaching for each others hands in tough moments and gently squeezing as reminders of their presences, and sometimes just doing for no reason other than closeness and security and comfort and to just, hold each others hands.

I love you’s. Lots of them. Heartfelt and sincere and emotional and naturally and full of unconditional love. After bad days, after good days, after heavy conversations, after fun times, just random I love you’s so nobody forgets how loved they are despite all they’ve lost.

bro their talking phase was INSUFFERABLE. like. GENUINELY JUST PAINFUL for everyone to watch. corvus looked at soren like the sun shone out of his ass and soren looked at corvus like he was his whole world. they were the last people to realize they were dating

soren goes all out on everyone's birthdays, he adorns the entire room with confetti and lights, and plans all of them (even though he's always a little late on the surprise aspect of it), and makes sure everyone learns fun dances and songs for the person. he went over the moon for corvus, asking the people to write corvus personal cards and he even wrote one himself. HE WROTE CORVUS POETRY AND IT WAS ACTUALLY! VERY GOOD!

but who goes all out for soren? who looks after him on his birthday?

CORVUS.

while corvus was the last person opeli expected to request a hundred feet of colored paper streams and a stack of jelly tarts, she gladly helped plan the party

corvus was never known for having a good sense of humor, but with soren, this blond man laughs so hard he punctures a lung. this leaves corvus beaming for the rest of the day

soren had always helped claudia dye her hair and style it on different occasions growing up-- and as she grew older, and well, you know what happened, he had forgotten how fun it was to do someone's hair. doing corvus's hair, styling it in different ways is his favorite thing to do

CORVUS IS SO TOUCH-STARVED, SOMEONE SHOULD HOLD HIM ME THINKS

around a month after the final battle, corvus walks into soren's room to find him furiously blinking away tears, and throwing a frame underneath his bed. soren had tried to greet corvus with a joke, but his voice broke right before the punchline. corvus led soren to his bed and held him as he sobbed over the loss of those he loved

WHENEVER THEY GO ON MISSIOnS people always ask "how do those two get anything done?? how do they even get along?" it's just the matter of soren saying whatever's on his mind, and that grounding corvus enough to focus on the mission instead of his thoughts. it's a win-win, your honor.

because the first time soren had dropped a playful nickname on corvus, calling him "dear" after asking him to pass the salt, corvus replied with calling him "love" and SOREN EXPLODED INTO THE REDDEST FACE

soren isn't as concise with picking up certain cues as corvus is, but it's so clear that he tries. whenever corvus gets overstimulated, soren is so smooth and casual with telling the noisy crowd, "hey! me and my buddy gotta go check on something, we'll be back, man." and then they just sit in silence for as long as corvus needs

soren's tendencies of getting ahead of himself in battle might've changed, but they never truly left.

in dangerous situations, soren throws himself into battle, not expecting any serious consequences-- but sometimes, he doesn't get so lucky. he was in a coma for days, and after he woke up, he learned that corvus had been talking to him every single day and sleeping in the hospital with him since then

Sleepy soren (yes this artwork was inspired the short story between these two) I'm still kinda new to this ship tbh it took some time to grow on me lol but I really like how their personalities work together and how (i believe) that their personalities being so different they can expand on the characters in different ways that we have not seen them before and could lead to a interesting dynamics between them (I just wish they had more screen time together). For example I believe Its why ships like Rayla and Callum work so well because they are very different making us see them in multiple different ways but they are understand eachother and are willing to see things in each others few even if they disagree and i believe these are some of the reasons why sorvus (soren x corvus) is such a good ship and could actually work in canon.
