And then I feel like it’s not bad at all, like I just lived a normal life

I don’t have religious trauma

Until I remember my sister telling me she’s scared to date a girl due to the family

Until my religious family uses slurs , homophobia and racism

Until I remember the story of how my grandparents allowed a pastor to beat their son in the church in front of their kids

Until my dad claimed to follow God but beat and abused his wife in front of us

Until my mom said to “Trust Gods Plans” but died in the end

Until my mom drowned herself in alcohol, meanwhile my religious family did nothing

Until my religious family saw the abuse their daughter faced, their grandchildren faced, yet did nothing

Until my uncle tried to slice his throat

Until my family is misogynistic

Until my family is full of alcoholics

Until I wake up everyday depressed

Until I wake up and remember what happened to me.

Until my abusers continued their actions in “The Name of God”

Until they used God as the excuse for everything

And they swore to God they didn’t do the things they did.

The Wardens - small lore snippet (again)
