Hey guys, and welcome to my first book review! I'm Asterisk, and to start this off I have something somewhat relating to my username and not really relating to my little 'mission statement'. And that is (drumroll please) Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir.

One of the best things about this novel is how much I wanted to rotate the main character in my head as the story went on. Ryland Grace (our mc) is so funny, and it made the book so much fun to read. And given that it's an amnesia-based plot line set in space *and* it's scifi, which is right up my lane, that's hard to do. Everything had a good explanation and was explained well on top of that, which is something that is pretty hard to do in sci-fi. Authors often either overestimate or underestimate the intelligence of their target audience, leaving said audience feeling patronized or idiotic. Yet Andy Weir managed to pin down a good way to present information for both sides. And for that I give this book a good ol' 4.7 stars, and a recommendation to check it out!!

Welcome to my blog!!

I'm the space dwelling sapphic, or the asterisk if you prefer a real name. Asterisk isn't my real name, of course, but it's the closest you'll get!!

Speaking of which, my name does feed into my content. Because, although I will post pretty much just book stuff dotted with the occasional star fact or picture, it's the nature of said book stuff that matters. See, if you couldn't tell from my url, I am massively queer, which is something that, while growing in popularity in the literary community, is still underrepresented in many ways. And an asterisk represents both a small star as well as an omitted matter.

See where I'm going with this?

So, while not every book is going to be following someone queer or poc, you can expect a fair bit of them to check at least one of those boxes, if not both. And I'm always accepting recs through my ask box if you'd like to see my particular stance on a matter.
