So I only started reading the day after the comic finished, but I immediately fell in love with the quirky characters, their antics, and what I found to be tasteful social commentary laying in the depths of the tale.  After binging the whole story in a couple days, I read a little more into the author and the history of the comic, and saw the project had come to completion after 10 years of work and developing a loyal community.  I loved reading the comments of both new and veteran readers telling of their opinions, congratulating the author, and the woeful lamentations due to the story’s end, followed by hopeful comments about future projects.  I think it’s a special accomplishment for all those involved, especially for the author, Meredith Gran, and though my word means little I would like to congratulate her for completing such a project and thank her for giving us a meaningful and enjoyable story.

@octopuspiecomic really got me thinking about my friendships and relationships with other folks.  It helped me to remember how valuable all my friends are to me and frankly reminded me how I’ve done a shit job of keeping up with a good number of them since I got out of high school... Themes of relationships/friendships really hit me close to home since I’ve been acting the hermit at university just trying to keep focused - but ultimately not realizing how the isolation had been affecting me.

End of the school year gift to myself - Hard Cover, Full Color, Chock Full of Extras, Full Set of Scott Pilgrim!  Already gave em a christening read through and I’m stoked to finally have one of my favorite comic series in my possession.

Check my super rare defective volume one, printed upside down for maximum reader confusion! Honestly, I love having a defective copy, gave me a good laugh when I popped the box open and it seems special to my simple simple brain.

10/10 would purchase again.

The last roundup of Beta Stage Character Designs for ‘By Order of the Leader’ by Zeroth Entertainment.  Next round of designs will be the finals meaning they will be incorporated into the game itself. So exciting!

Not gonna bother with lengthy character descriptions at this point, but we have: - The Lower Class: The strong, smelly backbone of your beloved country. - The Upper Class: Sickeningly Opulent Citizens. - The Media: Beloved whistleblowers who are fed up with their jobs. - The Military: Trained Socio/Psycopathic Patriots with a ton of funding. - Yakyakian Ambassador: Leader of the Yakyakian people, very serious. - The Yakyakians: The sworn enemies of your country. Very friendly vikings. - Bob: The sole member of your country’s middle class. - The Puppet Leader: A puppet of your boss has gained sentience and now leads a splinter cell to overthrow the government.

Was tidying up my school/art folders and found this poster I made for a Design class.  Good ol homage to Salvador Dali, that Spanish genius.  All elements used were parts of his paintings and photoshop effects.

The intent was to represent his creative mindset, which to me was like some sort of chaotic, golden fever dream, ripe with insanity to give us those wicked surrealist concepts, but contained and expressed by a powerfully talented medium. A ravishing nightmare I think is how I described it when I presented it - it did not go well (sleep deprivation helped too), babbled about high concept art hooha for 15min.

Anyways, I still like it for what it is and I hope ya’ll will too. The top one was the final version btw.

Beta Designs will be more detailed, be in line with the game’s style, have an expanded colour palette, and will generally be better than the Alphas, y’know?

Welp, I’m clearly garbage at updating my tumblr, so I present to you a dump of the last Alpha Stage Character Development Sketches for ‘By Order of the Leader’ by Zeroth Entertainment!

From here on all character designs will be either in their Beta or Final stage and that much closer to completion.  I’ve very much enjoyed doing these and appreciate being given such artistic freedom to explore all these different characters.  I’ll do better with keeping updates consistent, so thanks for checking out my work o3o

Meet the brains behind your country, incorporating professions from malevolent Super Science to eldritch Black Magic to Birthday Party Grade Illusions.  The Thinkheads are obviously a smart bunch and possess the vast majority of educated citizenry.  They’ll be the backbone behind endeavors like the weather control device and the ‘Everything’ Toaster.  While from experience they know better than to question The Leader or god forbid his Father, they won’t hesitate to let you or anyone else know how mow much of a fool they’re being, official reports, graphs, charts, and presentations included.

A tad rushed compared to the last one, but we need to keep on our deadlines and the Alphas aren’t supposed to have that much detail/polish anyhow.  Regardless, I hope ya’ll enjoy the pic!

The Predecessor, the man who held your position as Treasurer before your donning of the badge and the previous record holder for time in that office.  He is presumed deceased after his execution was ordered by your current boss (The Leader), for what we will likely never know. He feeds you information, plans, and devices from the shadows in an effort to keep you alive and the country running.

Muthafuckin Pass 7, gonna have an aneurysm cus of this’n! Wolframite here is my special bby, because apparently she needs more than twice the amount of design drafts than any of my other Gems (and I’m still not particularly pleased with her).  I’ll probly just settle on her next one being her final, and her immortal ass can deal with it.

Another Alpha Set of sketches for Zeroth Entertainment’s ‘By Order of the Leader’.  Introducing the sole member your country’s Middle Class, Bob! He was able to avoid the stark separation of the rich and poor by selling bits and bobbles as ‘cultural keepsakes’ on the internet to First World Countries.  What a smart chap!

‘The Gamer’ got unanimously chosen and even gets to skip the Beta Stage, only additions is he gets a brick mobile phone and The Consumer’s groceries.

Shirt says ‘Pick Yo Poison’ but it could just as easily be, ‘Dick Yo Bison’

Couldn’t tell you why I made a Ref Sheet for a first draft, but w/e man.

Introducing one of my several SU: Gem OC’s - Realgar! I’ll tell ya’ll more about her/her species later on, what ya get now is, she’s: A Homeworld Gem & full veteran of the Earth Rebellion, missing her (formerly) lovely right arm as a result of said war, narrowly avoiding shattering as her gem is on that right shoulder, is luckily a lefty, & is my team’s mom.

Anyways, as to work to do, just gotta unify the design more, change out some off looking parts, mainly the skirt area and hair (why can’t I draw hair Q-Q) and finalize a pattern for her clothes and face paint/tat/w/e.  Really stoked on the color palette too, so much red, so purty.

Vomited some quick sketches for the ‘Upperclass’, everyone’s favorite aristocratic group.  Tbh, I only like a couple of these and didn’t get as much time as I’d like to explore expression and body shapes, but cest les vie (I blame school).  The team chose a name for the game though - By Order of the Leader, so there’s that :D
