"Monarch of the Sky"

I've decided to make all the gods and not just the ones I feel personally close to! Zeus is the king of the gods, the god of sky and thunder in mythology, among other things. He's got a rocky reputation in the modern times due to the modern reading of his mythology and the way he tends to be with women, but he's a powerful god to work with in any case. He can give you determination and a sense of power in yourself.

"The Unseen One"

I posted Persephone the other day, so it's only fair I post Hades now that I'm done with him. Hades and Persephone are two gods that I feel very close to. Working with Hades, you can learn diligence, which I find useful to remember when looking to my long-term goals, and though he can be wrathful, he's always been written about in ancient sources as just and kind, which is good to remember on those days I just want to burn it all down.

"Half Sunshine, Half Grave"

The title of this one is taken from a little poem by Grace Babcock that asks why do young poets write about Persephone? And it answers that perhaps we can relate to being half sunshine and half grave. There are definitely days where I feel I can relate to that. She's always been a goddess I feel particularly close to. So enjoy my art of her.

I'm going through some life changes right now, and my insomnia has been intense lately. Like my brain is filled to the brim with noise that wakes me every 30 minutes sometimes and every 2 hours at the best of times. So I've made art about it.

"Flower Crown"

Let's just post something for the beautification of my feed. I make a lot of spooky art but I like mildly weird and pretty art too. During the weekend, I edit my podcast and make art while I listen to the audio. This is this week's art.

Did You Know?

Neanderthals had glittery makeup!

Archaeologists have found evidence of ornamentation in Neanderthal sites that dates back 50,000 years--long before Homo sapiens got to the area. This ornamentation includes shells strung together and pigmentation, including bright colors and shimmery pigments made with crushed pyrite.

These prehistoric cosmetics suggest that Neanderthals displayed symbolic thinking, the ability to follow multi-step recipes, and the ability to mine ores.

"Pressure" is certainly an apt title and the way it feels lately. I'm job hunting and moving and it's a stressful time. There's definitely a lot of pressure in my life at the moment coming from all sides. Like hands just pushing and pulling in all directions. I'm sure there's lots of you that can relate.

Into the Hollow

Sometimes, being on the spectrum feels like being forced to put on a mask that makes everyone around you feel better but inside it, I'm dying. It's a lot of forced smiles and pleasantries for me. Aside from the ASD, as someone with treatment resistant major depressive disorder, this is where I used to live all the time, putting on a happy face to please everyone around me.
