here i was at a used book sale. picked up a random book with a fun title. go to look at the summary on the back only to find out it’s book two in a trilogy. go to goodreads to see what else is in the series. 5 ratings and 0 reviews, no series information. look up the author and discover she does in fact have a website! the color scheme is black on yellow. click her bibliography link. it’s broken. fruitlessly click around the website a bit to find an alternate link. finally manually go in and try to change various things in the address bar to figure out if it’s a typo (on my phone, still in the middle of the used book sale with people all around me). eventually get in! the list on the author’s page also has no series info. compare books on the page by publication order to goodreads until i manage to find the correct ones based on having the same main characters. still do not have copies of book 1 or 3.

the book probably isn’t even going to be good! and this is only one such occurrence.

the peril of reading old scifi/fantasy is i’m left trying to navigate author websites that were clearly hand coded in html 20 years ago and haven’t been updated since when i just want a nice neat list of all their books that they somehow don’t seem to have 😭
