This has been haunting me for days.

What if instead of just knocking him out, the blow Gi-Hun receives from the guards at the end of season 2, completely gives him amnesia.

He wakes up in that coffin in the dorms without a single clue who he is, who anyone is, or where the hell he is. He doesn't understand the box, he doesn't understand why everyone is staring at him like he's a zoo animal.

All he is reminded of is a man with a soft grin asking him 'if that was alright by him', he doesn't know who he is or what he's asking, but he remembers him.

Since his whole team is dead besides Dae-Ho, he knows at least his name but little to nothing else. Theres no one to connect the dots, there's no one to properly tell him who he is or why he's here.

He doesn't questions when the guards come back in for him, he doesn't question when he's escorted from the dormitory. In the end he comes face to face with the same smiling man; the same warm grin spread across his face just now with a different outfit, offering that he'll help him remember who he is. In-Ho wants to rebuild him, make him the perfect host, the man he needs by his side. He holds Gi-Hun's world in his hands, and he plans to crush his past to smithereens, and he will be more than happy to do so.

Fic Idea I'm trying to flesh out:

In-Ho watches Gi-Hun walk away from his plane, and from that moment he decides he's going to assert himself into Gi-Hun's life, not as the Frontman, but as Oh Young-Il who accidentally stumbled into him when he left his hotel one night. He was determined to be the friend Gi-Hun needed, help him give his life more purpose than the games.

In-Ho never meant to fall in love, but he did. Gi-Hun may have fell in love first, but In-Ho fell in love harder
