Do you by any chance know the plot summary of sparklecare/the side projects or know where one can find that stuff leaked?

Also, not to be rude at all but. What made you decide to date kittycorn in the first place? Did you know how fucked up of a person she was from the start? How did she convince multiple people to date her at the same time? And the abuse stuff with her character Sly based on her brother, why glorify him so much and obsess over Sly as a character if based on such a terrible person especially if she’s still actively in danger?

i met kc in 2012 and we started dating in 2013. i cut her off in 2017 and havent been part of her orbit since. kc was the one that liked me first and we were very close friends at that time and, not knowing i was gay yet, thought "oh okay i guess this is what this love stuff feels like" so i said yes. things were alright and happy at first, and then our relationship kept getting worse until i left in 2017. i didnt know our relationship would end up like that, especially because we were so young anyway. asking if i knew how "fucked up she was at the start" feels a bit weird. i cant really give you insight on sly since i wasnt there for that, and i dont personally know her anymore.

i also wasnt around for anything that happened after the preboot, so i dont know anything about the reboot or her side projects or aus. there are people who have posts about it though i think, and you can probably find them. theres an archival server you might find the link to but its 18+, just so youre aware

i was groomed by Oliver Bouler, author of Olivias Birds and "Lion/Ollie" on the Sparklecare Team. At the time I knew him as dibfilth on Instagram and by the names Forrest and Dib. I was 14, he was 21. Our relationship wasn't necessarily sexual in nature, but it went beyond friendship. What happened to me was objectively grooming, but it wasn't nearly as bad as what happened to the others. He had several victims, going as young as 13. Screenshots below are taken from the cinnadibfilthpedoproof Instagram account, and there is much more on the account than this. None of these are my own conversations with him, I'm too scared of him finding me.

A few years ago, while processing that I had been in an inappropriate relationship with him, I came in contact with one of his IRLs. He had sheltered them from his callouts for a while before they eventually found out the truth. They confirmed that, even after everything had come to light, Kittycorn was still associating with him. I was devastated as both a Sparklecare fan and a victim.

Desperately I sent asks and messages, off-anon so they could be responded to privately, begging Kittycorn for any confirmation that they were no longer associated with each other, that it wasn't true. If you are familiar with Kittycorns tumblr, you know she is very active when it comes to answering asks. Not a single one of mine were answered. I took this silence as compliance.

Ollie was not the only groomer to work on Sparklecare. There have been at least four called out since 2020 alone, and each and every time they are just silently removed from the Sparklecare credits with no word from Kittycorn. You would think that words of respect towards the victims, perhaps a mesaage denouncing these predators would be due. But time and time again, the same thing happened.

I've been working up the courage to make this post for 5 years. I've known about her shady associations for years, and for that I feel guilty. Maybe if I had said something sooner then less people would have been hurt.

I'd love to be able to give a good definitive answer here, but honestly, I'm not totally sure yet! I'm still doing concept stuff for the reboot right now, so I don't want to spoil anything that could end up being included or important later!

I'm also unsure if Holly Enshout or Alan Grier are Griefer. Leaning toward thinking it's Alan, since he's the closest to Griefer's pre-cyborg design as Sid Chandler.

Flesch Enblood is so painfully familiar looking, but I really can't remember who he might be. I have old references printed out on paper somewhere that I'll have to find and look through, that might at least clear things up with him?

Ellie "Elsa" Tronix has a large amount of Kit's characteristics, including the lack of expressions and such. I don't know if she's a rework of Kit specifically, but I noticed that.

This is just what I have right now. A lot of these characters were ones I designed and created.

Kit, Lavender, Kira, Socks, Pepper, Franz, Candle, and Ollie were not created by me, they were created by Kittycorn and I think Socks and Pepper were by another family member of hers. There are others that Kittycorn created, and I will try to find as many refs as I can and make a little archive of that, as well as who created who + any character inspirations.

I will probably do a list of TE characters and what they were inspired by, or more accurately based on, a bit later!

Since you worked on an early version of karmageddon and did some partial work on Sparklecare do you have any advice to aspiring webcomic creators like myself? I’m not really good with writing or coming up with complex ideas

Hello!! Advice on webcomics and just in general… I think people have asked Kittycorn before and from looking over her blogs recently it feels like she kinda gave fucking nothingburger advice at times. So here's my advice, under the cut mainly just because it’s long. I will tag the main Sparklecare tag with this specifically because I know there are a lot of people who want to take elements of it for themselves and make their own things, too. :] Other than that, I've stopped using the main tag and won't be using it.

So, not even webcomic specific related at first:

Don’t be afraid to take inspiration! Don’t be afraid of seeming unoriginal! If there’s an element of something that you like, steal it! Obviously try not to do it 1:1 or whatever, but if you’re working on your own original story, chances are that it will end up different than its original inspiration anyway. 

To quote a common proverb: “There is nothing new under the sun.” 

People get super hung up on making something 100% original. You can’t! As harsh and blunt as that sounds. Don’t worry about it. As long as you aren’t maliciously lifting huge chunks of things, it’s okay.

Okay, so, another thing. Not every idea has to be super complex. If you want it to be, sure! But not every story has to be something sprawling or deep. Sometimes your ideas may not add up into something massive, and that’s alright! Even simpler stories can be very engaging! 

I do think, if you’re making something much more complex, it is probably helpful to try and work out at least some base things before you start. Some people can get away with coming up with things on the spot, generally I just don’t think it’s that easy for everybody. Having at least a skeleton structure of what you want to happen will be very useful.

Do not be afraid to get feedback from people on your ideas! Don’t be afraid to ask people, “do you think this makes sense”? Fanfiction writers tend to have beta readers, for example. I think it can help to have people you at least check ideas with now and then. Having fresh eyes helps so much with catching things you might miss otherwise.

Okay, so onto actual webcomic advice:

I mean first of all, I think the big overarching sentiment is that like.. do what you want, yeah. That's valid advice. Don't be afraid to make what it is you want to make within reason (gestures to KC), don't worry about an audience right away. The right people will find you eventually, although you should definitely consider what audience you’re aiming for and what boundaries may be needed ahead of time. Try to be patient, yeah? A lot of things don’t explode completely overnight.

BUT like. Kittycorn said squeak never expected Sparklecare to get so big or whatever. Not her fault, but I think there’s something to keep in mind with that. I really think it is important to be aware and remember that anything on the internet that's public can get popular or viral. like. At least mentally prepare yourself for the possibility. Especially because there’s a real chance that people will go against your wishes or interact when you don't want them to/create context you don’t want. This reminds me of anecdotes about Disney show creators getting shown porn of their stuff and being told “hey, this will happen” ahead of time.

This is all I really have right this second. I know damn well later today after I’ve already posted this, something will hit me that I haven’t said, haha. I may make a bigger post later on if I think of more to say, but for now, I hope this stuff is useful! And I wish you good luck and fun in your endeavors!

Have you read the leaked Karmageddon chapter 1? I guess my question is, that if the Karmageddon/Team Escapees will by anything like it? And do you know if anything you and KC original conceived together carried over to what eventually came out that was leaked?

I did take a look at it, yes! My reboot will have similarities just based on the fact that she did carry over a fair amount of characters that were reworked and moved to Karmageddeon. The time loop aspect of the story will remain, since its the whole crux of things.

Ratzville as a location carried over to Karmageddeon, I know. Bunmart did. Cecilia's brother was also a concept I believe was reworked from the original Team Escapees, because the brother concept originally was attached to a different character.

I would have to look back over the leaks and stuff to give a more comprehensive list of anything I noticed, and it's important to remember that I can only truly speculate about some of it, since I wasn't present for any of Karmageddeon itself's development. I will absolutely go through these things if you would all like me to!! :]

thank you for coming out. before eve deleted her deviantart account i would look through it frequently for inspiration, im assuming most of the art she made was about you- sorry if this seems weird, its just something i remember wondering about.

I am going to be so for real. Yes, a ton of art squeak made was about me. I can't necessarily speak about past late May 2017 and onwards, as I went no contact with her around then, but I'm sure some of it past that time was. I know personally that a lot of art before that was about me or us together, though!

Well, there was the original Team Escapees. There was the 2017 reboot the two of us were working on before I left and cut Kittycorn off that was also still Team Escapees. Then there was Karmageddeon and her multiple reworks of it. Now there will be my reboot of the original Team Escapees that is currently untitled!!

Honestly? Yeah, I will. Maybe it's petty of me, but Kittycorn took so many characters I created for that media and totally just completely redid them instead of making her own new ones. So, it's like.. fuck it. Y'know?

Squeak totally misrepresented me as a monster and then took all my contributions for herself and, to my knowledge, never actually acknowledged that they weren't originally her creations in the first place. I feel like I'm entitled to take back the series in general.

Like, it has always really rubbed me the wrong way that kit decided to reboot Team Escapees at all.

I can look at most Karmageddeon characters and tell exactly which Team Escapees characters they were derived from, even if some sort them may not be super obvious to everyone else. And if people want me to go into that, I will!

I am going to try and make the whole concept of chaos angels more relevant than it was in the original Team Escapees, because despite the small bits of lore revealed about them, they didn't have a ton of actual story importance. I actually created them and their concept!! Hopefully I can revamp them a bit more overall.

They were actually a through line in several stories Kittycorn and I created back then, but they didn't do much, and they didn't ever particularly get utilized.

A fun fact for you: I was honestly the reason Team Escapees had so many characters based off of characters from existing media. That's just kind of always been my type of autism and ADHD. I'm attached to those characters, though, so my plans are to like.. separate them enough that they aren't so obviously expies, while trying to maintain some of their original charm.

Honestly, if any of you want me to list which characters were inspired by established media and what character their inspiration was, I would be happy to. I think it would be very fun.

BTW, I'm probably going to stop tagging the main Sparklecare tag now, because I want it to be open and clear for relevant discussions and such—I just have wanted people interested in KC's projects to know they won't all just die. I am the second person who worked on the original iteration of Karmageddeon with Kneeby from around 2012 to 2017, Kneeby's ex boyfriend from that time. Anything bad you've heard about me is probably very exaggerated and honestly twisted to make me look like a bad person. I have grown and changed since then anyway, and any behavior in the past is not indicative of anything current about me. I may take time to answer asks or respond if something isn't urgent, as I am just a very anxious person. Please have some patience with me!

• This media will have a lot of horror themes (psychological horror, in particular). I'm not entirely sure about content like blood and gore yet or other more graphic themes, but I would like to aim for less focus on those things. I will figure it out!

Karmageddeon was Team Escapees in the past!! I thought I would be just dipping and disappearing again, but I want to take Team Escapees back, honestly. So I want to reboot it my own way. It's likely what I create is going to be closer to the original comic than Karmageddeon is, and you might even find things familiar!
