Actually, I’d have to disagree with that! Touching someone during the treatment medically/soothingly (and Hannibal considered his actions a form of treatment, no matter how fucked up it was) is worlds apart from touching a person you love and sacrificed everything for sexually when they can’t give consent. 

In S1, Hannibal wanted Will to Become. He viewed Will clinging to limitations and denying his true nature as something very harmful, so he launched a complex plan and tried to shatter these limitations. Will acknowledged that in the end, it helped him discover the truth of who he is, so Hannibal’s actions paid off. This is about the lights therapy.

About the ear: if you go with Bryan’s version and think Hannibal set Will up to trigger his Becoming in a more extreme way, then the previous explanation applies again. If you prefer Mads’ version like I do, where Hannibal was forced to set Will up temporarily because Will was getting too close without being ready to accept it,  then what he did is perfectly explained by their dynamic. Hannibal might want to have a family with Will, but as of now, they remain on the conflicting sides. In a way, they are enemies on the opposite sides of the battlefield, and Hannibal does what he must to protect himself and briefly take Will out of the game.

All this can’t apply to them post S3. Will already Became, which is, like Hannibal himself says, everything he ever wanted. There is no need for any extreme therapies. Not to mention, Hannibal sacrificed everything he had for Will: he was ready to destroy his reputation and normal life for him in S2, he was ready to die for him several times in S3; he took the bullet for him, he gave up his freedom. Hannibal breathes at Will’s command at this point, and hurting Will is the last thing he’d do. He was ready to accept any of Will’s decisions in TWOTL. Why would it change in S4? 

Using Bedelia’s words from E3 of S3 and twisting them a bit: if past behavior is an indicator of future behavior, there is only one way for Hannibal to manipulate Will: with the aim to help him. And touching him sexually when he is out of his mind definitely doesn’t fall in this category.

when i published my master's thesis way back in 2014, the first one in my mother tongue to talk about nonbinary identities and stuff,

one of the main findings was that even when using non-binarising language such as "queer" is available, humans tend to create new binaries to make sense of their identities and belonging and things like that.

it seemed many people like saying "well - i'm definitely not THAT" as much as saying "this is what i am". it's HARD for humans to only have identities that describe themselves, without comparison to others.

and so now recently someone's come up with yet another binary to divide the queer community - this silly tme/tma thing that i hate from the bottom of my heart because it negates the idea of just us without a need for a "them"

and it's again such an ingenious tool of oppression. "let's find new ways of ripping apart this community of communitas".

it's like saying,

"let's not focus on the fact that to the haters, we are all scum - let's forget that we are all in this together - and let's in fact do all this online so that there will be absolutely no chance of looking each other in the eye and seeing that You and I belong together"

was it Levinas who spoke of the radical youness of you? that only by acknowledging that everyone is their own myself, can we really meet each other?
