It's come to our attention that there is a great deal of speculation that Spartan B-312, better known as Noble 6, survived the events of the fall of Reach by taking shelter in a cave.

We regret to inform you in such a manner, but we checked and...

there are no caves on Reach.

Saw someone on Reddit theorize that the reason the Halo show is Like That is because it was supposed to be a Mass Effect show but they couldn’t get the rights so they just licensed some other famous science fiction game series, did some rewrites, and went from there. And I’m intensely disturbed because of how much sense this theory makes, because so much of the show feels like “Halo pretending to be Mass Effect”:

The general focus on internal, smaller-scale human conflicts, intergalactic politics, and relationships with the bigger alien threat building largely in the background.

The Covenant’s motives and reasons for attacking humanity being built up as a mystery like how Mass Effect makes a big deal out of nobody knowing why the Reapers do what they do (in contrast to the Halo games, where the Covenant’s motives are more or less known from the start). Also, how the Covenant aren’t really humanized in comparison to the games, being portrayed more like inscrutable beings using brainwashed human servants like the Reapers.

The frank depictions and discussions of sex and nudity. Halo’s generally always avoided outright sexual content beyond the occasional silly joke (e.g., “he was my lover!”), whereas Mass Effect never shied away from that subject.

The sheer fact that Master Chief fucks at all, and especially that he fucks a woman aligned with the aliens (and is speculated by some to be originally intended AS an alien). Fucking aliens is one of the bread-and-butters of Mass Effect, but can you ever imagine that in a Halo game beyond obvious non-canon gags like Johnson hugging the Elite in CE?

The portrayal of AIs. Cortana is a mix of EDI (AI made by morally dodgy group that slowly aligns with the good guys) and SAM from Andromeda (implanted into Chief’s nervous system rather then just carried in a chip like in the games). More vaguely, the Spartans’s portrayal as basically human robots “rediscovering their humanity” feels eerily similar to the Geth and their whole arc of developing individuality, with Chief filling the role of Legion.

Halsey acts a lot like a female Illusive Man, manipulating people for “the greater good” and lacking a lot of her more sympathetic traits from the games. Similarly, the guy playing Captain Keyes looks and acts A LOT more like Captain Anderson from Mass Effect (seriously, Danny Sapani is the perfect pick Anderson aside from getting Keith David to reprise the role; he’d be an amazing casting choice if this were a Mass Effect show). And just to cap it off, this Makee character is suspiciously similar to Benezia, serving the villains, the sex appeal, and it would explain why so many people get the vibe that she was intended as an alien.

The fact that the whole plot is kicked off when Master Chief goes to colony to find it was attacked by aliens and touches an ancient alien device that gives him a vision… just like Commander Shepard going to Eden Prime and touching the Beacon at the start of Mass Effect.

The way Parangosky is portrayed, arguing with and seeking respect from a Council while also covering for undercover black ops stuff would make a lot more sense as the Citadel Council and the whole subplot in Mass Effect of humanity having to prove themselves as newcomers who have only just got onto the Council (which would also explain Parangosky being made a lot nicer then in canon Halo; she’s a stand-in for the first human councilor in Mass Effect, taking elements from both Anderson and Udina).

This one is kind of a stretch but Kwan and the Madrigal subplot feel ever so similar to Tali and the Quarians (younger girl from a culture on the outskirts of galactic society leaves home and ends up working with her peoples’s perceived enemy and learning they’re not so different — again, lining up with the ”Spartans as Geth” idea). Kwan also seems to take a bit after Ashley, being survivor of the heretic Geth Covenant attack on Eden Prime her hometown and having similar ”angry tough girl” characterization.

Like, no, completely unironically I am one hundred percent sure that this was a Mass Effect script at some point in its production. If so, man, BioWare really dodged a bullet for once, huh?

I think I'm having one of those moments. I look and see likes on my page... which granted... are nice, but I don't get any interaction other than that. Especially over the past 3 months. And even though I have requests in my inbox... my mind goes:

'Well, we do these all the time... and other than our mutuals... no one interacts with us on it... so why bother?'

Am I just too much in my own head about this? Idk... I feel like I'm losing my spark.

Plot armor? in this case literally....

Hey so apparently halo armor weighs a fuckton?! Halopedia outright says it (453.6kg or 1k lbs with change) which is ridiculous. And i didn't realize so I spent 15 minutes looking up math and conversion rates and was 220lbs shy of the total weight.

I get why you have to be seriously and rigurously augmented to wear it jesus fuck.

which now begs the question- how do the reds and blues wear that stuff without crumpling under the weight.

what's halo about?

Halo is about a humanity unable to escape the violent systems of its past, embroiled in imperialist war against colonies seeking autonomy and an end to exploitation of people and land, being confronted with a mirror to itself in the form of alien religious zealots who are waging a war of extermination to maintain stability in their own precarious empire whose hierarchy is predicated on constant warfare and manipulation.

The main weapon defending humanity are kidnapped, brainwashed, and heavily augmented child soldiers who were originally trained to kill human protest leaders, but none of that matters because one of them is a epic space guy who shoots the aliens and makes big explosions and that’s what the games are about

The human side of Noble team/ Part 1

Even though Jun didn't die with a sacrifice like the rest of Noble in the mission we do with him, he says some quotes that make me reflect to this day it's as if he knew what was going to happen such as:

"I kill my enemy, but i do not have them"

kind of strange considering he turned into a SPARTAN seeking revenge against the covenant

But kind of make sense after human-covenant war where the Sangheili where betrayed

"We are just like this rifle, Six, when we have done our jobs, we are discarded just as easily."

The famous SPARANTAN-IIIs are cannonballs

But also something to think about into your own life there will always bê a point where we won't have use to someone and that person just discart us

This is one of the reasons Jun is one of my favorite chacters in geral he is realist of the world we live, particularly i believe he is the Spartan who has the most knowledge of how to really be a human and not just an empty fighting machine

Emile is one of the most iconic franchise characters and fan favorite of many who especially like him for being violent and bloodthirsty especially when it comes to the Covenant

What many don't know is that his personality so striking and loved comes from a simple reason, his fear of death.

Being a SPARTAN-III he knew death would come to him one day and the way he found to come to terms with that was to be violent since it's something that is normal for humans to do in moments of fear

It is a way lots of people use to cope with fear and that makes his iconic last words even more touching

"I'm ready! How about you!?"

He wasn't ready... but he accepted that he would die and join his fallen brothers and that there was nothing he could do but succumb to his greatest fear

Kat is one of most overhated chacters in the franchise especially considering she started decoding the codes for Cortana to finish and find the coordinates for the Halo installation 04 which as we all know was one of the main reasons for the end of the human-covenant war and humanity's victory

This makes her death so tragic for me, not only did she die but she decoded a code that needed the assistance of an AI to be fully decoded showing the brilliant mind that humanity lost due to a single shot

But that's not the focus now the focus for this post would be her personality

Kat is famous for her sarcastic comments which are somewhat unusual for Spartans as she also has a tendency to not follow orders most of the time coming up with plans she knows that are better than the plans given by her superiors

It's no wonder she's second-in-command and Carter always asks for her opinion.

In my point of view this is what makes her so human, Spartans were created to follow orders and be perfect soldiers she breaks that by showing what I believe her personality to be before she was a spartan when she was still a child orphaned by war, a curious child who knew when to answer back and who never ceased to exist even after the argumantetion

And let's be real ONI didn't want to give Six to Noble team and now he is MIA (because SPARTANS don't die) so they have a fucking ghost hyper letal Spartan in there hands....

And before you ask why they didn't send Six to hunt down Blue team at the Guardians...

Cortana also choose Six to take her to the autumn and SPARTAN-IIIs have a lot of respect for the SPARTAN-IIs especially the Master Chief as he was seen as a hero and the SPARTAN-IIIs are orphaned children of the war where the Chief is seen as a symbol I have no doubt that Six would end up joining the blue team he doesn't just have a sense of responsibility since he took Cortana from Reach but we all agree that SPARTAN-III are very respectful of the generation before theirs

Not only that, but their secret weapon would be discovered and they would probably have to give it back to the UNSC probably at the insistence of Jun who we all know has survivor guilt for survive Reach

ONI probably considered him but was discarded for these reasons

And that is why I belive Noble Six is alive :D

Halo things that aren't talked about enough: that fucking week-long gap between long night of solace and exodus where noble six was just running around by themselves. With like, only a pistol and an injury. That gap is why I believe in the crackpot "six survived" theory, like they've survived on their own whilst injured and relatively defenseless before. If jun can leave reach by climbing a space elevator and just fucking going for it then six can survive in a cave damn you!!!!
