Forever recovering from self-harm. I'm a survivor. Victory through Christ. I still have dark days but He is my light and my strength.

I don't have to keep quiet about what was done to me so my abuser won't look bad.

When you’re depressed you don’t control your thoughts. Your thoughts control you. I wish people would understand.

There is but one good; that is God. Everything else is good when it looks to Him and bad when it turns from Him.

You’re struggling again but that doesn’t mean you’ve lost the fight. And just because you’ve hit rock bottom doesn’t mean you should call it home. You are a warrior. This battle doesn’t even stand a chance.

Things You Can Do For Someone Who’s Dissociating
Disclaimer: One of your greatest tools in helping someone through a dissociative episode is your knowledge of them. Some of these things will not work for everyone, and some people may react negatively to some of these (esp. being touched). It’s good to ask people what they would prefer when they’re experiencing a dissociative episode.
Tactile Stuff - Give them something to hold or touch: Stuffed animal, blanket, worry stone, a pet, ect. (Especially something calming and/or stimulating) - Give them something to drink or eat - Touch their arm or hand - Give them a hug
Things You Can Say (Note: Do not yell at them, but speak clearly and simply) - Say their name - Tell them the date or where they are - Just talk to them (especially topics that are calming and/or stimulating)
Get them Involved! - Take them on a walk - Play a game with them - Give them something to focus on: Book, tactile stuff, tv, ect.
If there is a trigger to the dissociative episode, you can remove the trigger (if possible). Some people may be helped by leaving the situation and going someplace calm. Some people would prefer to be left alone to come out of it by themselves.
