chat, it's okay if the gods have a ""dark"" side. like I've been seeing people trying to cover the "immoral" part of them and that doesn't make any sense.

some of you have the christianised idea of god being merciful, generous and good like that religion tells others, but in reality that statement doesn't fit in the theoi (not even in christianity lol but I'm not the one to tell)!

Hermes is a thief, Apollo is a plague god, Dionysus is a madness god... let them be, why are you trying to make them look good? they're gods, understand their nature if you want them to be around you

It's such a fucking shame that everyone hates Zeus because they took the myths too literally because a God King of hospitality, foreigners and the protector of immigrants would be SUCH a good guy to be calling on right now. I literally cannot think of a better god to call on for current political issues but suuure enjoy sitting on your mythic literalism high horse guys

Made a painting for Lord Hermes & his wife Lady Peitho ( the goddess of Persuasion & Seduction , daughter of Ate ) , I've been thinking about them quite a bit lately and I wanted to give them something in return of sorts .

( Also sidenote I know the greenery looks really bad and the clothing folds are most likely very inaccurate but I tried and I hope that they like it :'] I did a good job with the wing I think )

Orpheus & Eurydike as that one painting of Paolo & Francesca by Ary Scheffer, mostly inspired by Hozier's Francesca ( which always reminds me of them ) and the fact that I can relate anything to my favs

( so sorry that there's no background and all but I think the sense of emptiness is quite fitting ( that and drawing all those folds in the fabric drained me way too much to try and bother with something more complex heughh )

the fact that zeus is not only a paternal god but also one who has explicitly carried and given birth to his own children... i think it's beautiful & i would love to see more depictions of zeus as the patron and protector of pregnant trans men.
