Spiraphobia Scans is no longer just a solo project - it’s slowly becoming a group! If you love horror and want to help bring lesser-known manga to life, now’s the time to join us.

We're a horror-only scanlation group focused on psychological and supernatural manga. No isekai, no ecchi, no fluff. Just horror.

We already have two dedicated JP translators delivering scripts - now we’re expanding the visual side of the team.

I’ve been working on something a little different alongside my horror manga scanlations — translating Japanese horror novels and short stories, the kind that never get picked up officially.

Outside of scanlation, how have you been teaching yourself Japanese? I'd also like to learn and was wondering if you had any resources to share.

Hey there! So first off, I initially took a short Japanese course on Udemy, and I’ve also been studying Japanese using a dictionary. There’s also apps like Yomichan for quick definitions when reading online, JPDB for flashcards, and Kanji Study for learning kanji through writing.

It also helps that I’ve been watching various Japanese media over the years, so using romanized Japanese has made it easier to get used to the sounds and rhythm. I’d recommend that alongside taking a course and using apps, you should also consume a lot of Japanese shows - it really makes a difference when learning!
