Archangels | Elohim
Archangels
Species: Angel
Origins: Abrahamic religious mythology
Abilities:
Archangels are nigh omnipotent beings with abilities that rival or even outclass the likes of even the most powerful pagan deities.
Weaknesses:
Angelic weapons: angelic or holy weaponry is capable of damaging an archangel but archangel blades are actually the only things in heaven’s arsenal that are able to kill one.
Enochian magic: There are multiple enochian sigils, rituals, and spell work that can have an impact on all angels (including archangels) - even having the capacity to suppress their powers for a short time
Holy Oil: Holy oil is used to create holy fire. Holy fire can be used to trap and injure archangels but its effects don’t last long
The Cage: The cage is a prison that was built to hold Lucifer and as such it is easily capable of holding any archangel
The Colt: This monster slaying gun may not be able to kill an archangel but it does pack a punch. A headshot from this gun will knock an archangel out of commission for a minute or so
Lore:
Archangels in traditional Christian mythology are one of the lowest ranking in the holy hierarchy. They are the chiefs of the angels who interact with humanity and as such the most powerful of angels the human race would come into contact with but are actually significantly weaker than say Thrones or Seraphim who would stay close to God in heaven.
The śārīm angels of Judaism are the most powerful of the angels, and as such princes of heaven. The title given to the angelic princes in most english translations is “archangel” which is likely why the archangels are called as such. The judaic archangels consist of Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, and Uriel.
The Archangels are one of God’s first creations, and the first of angel kind. They are considered to be heaven’s fiercest warriors and answer only to God himself. Being made from the primordial dust of creation an archangel at full strength is the strongest thing in existence bar their creator and his sister.
Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, and Lucifer are the true original archangels - the mythos was just gently altered in the minds of humans for Uriel to take his place after Lucifer’s banishment to the cage.
Their true form is an infinite and ever shifting wavelength of unfettered grace and light. Even those who can see the “true forms” of angels without dying or going blind are likely to go insane at the sight of God’s purest handiwork.
The archangels, being God’s first children, have a much deeper connection to each other and God himself. Angels of lower classes may use the terms brother and sister to refer to each other but they typically lack a true emotional familial connection to one another, unlike the archangels who are nothing short of a terribly dysfunctional family with unresolved daddy issues.
The Signs:
The manifestation of an archangel on earth is typically accompanied by freak storms, minor earthquakes and other natural disasters.
Archangel grace, especially in a newly acquired vessel, charges the air and can cause electrical disturbances.
The almighty power of creation that makes up an archangel’s existence seeps out of them in the form of minor miracles and the bringing of natural life (like flowers blooming and stuff)
Hunting:
There is very little you can do if what you’re hunting turns out to be an archangel short of turning and running in the opposite direction
They are nearly omnipotent beings and likely won’t think twice about killing you. However, if you do want to go against one of these bad boys this is how you do it:
There are certain enochian sigils that when drawn in human blood and completed can be used as a banishing method for angels.
If you want to trap an archangel you’re gonna want to find yourself some holy oil (good luck btw). Holy oil is a rare and coveted magical artifact that can be used to create holy fire which you can use to trap an archangel in a circle.
The only known weapon capable of actually killing an archangel is an archangel blade - an incredibly rare and powerful set of angelic weapons belonging to the 4 archangels.

Arachne | Web Weavers
Arachne
Species: Monster
Origins: Ancient greek myth
Abilities:
Web weaving: Arachne can spin incredibly strong and beautiful webs
Enhanced Physicality: The Arachne are physically superior to the average human. They have enough strength to throw a man across a room with a single punch and are able to easily scale walls and fall from multiple stories and land on their feet.
Enhanced Senses: Arachne have incredible vision due to their mutated eyes.
Vibration Sensing: The tiny spines/hairs that an Arachne has coating their skin allows them to sense vibrations in the air around them as well as giving them a more thorough sense of touch
Limb regrowth: Similar to actual spiders Arachne have the capability to completely regrow lost limbs
Invulnerability: Along with the ability to regrow their limbs if severed, Arachne cannot be killed by normal means.
Venom secretion: Arachne are capable of secreting two types of venom; one that transforms a human into an Arachne and a second one that is deadly to humans.
Weaknesses:
Decapitation: The only known way to kill an Arachne is to cut its head off. The disconnecting of the brain to the spinal cord stops the Arachne’s ability to regenerate limbs.
Lore:
According to ancient Greek myths Arachne is the name of a young weaver who was cursed by the goddess Athena after Arachne won a weaving competition against her.
The girl was a proud craftsman and often boasted her skill, comparing her abilities to that of Athena herself. This enraged the noble goddess and to humble her Athena challenged Arachne to a weaving competition. Arachne wasn’t threatened by this challenge and happily agreed, confident that her weaving would best that of even gods.
Her confidence was well deserved - she had woven a completely flawless tapestry - but Athena was not pleased. She beat the girl and cursed her to become a spider upon death.
In actuality Arachne is the name of a humanoid spider-like monster species originally native to Greece.
Hunters and magic practitioners pushed the species to near extinction, the webs that they weave have properties ideal for binding rituals. The last recorded sightings of Arachne were over two thousand years ago on the Greek island of Crete.
Arachne reproduce through infecting humans with their venom, similarly to vampires, and are unable to reproduce organically. This is one of the primary reasons that caused the species to be endangered and believed to be extinct. Another reason is their inability to disguise themselves and whilst they have evolved to more closely resemble the average human they are incapable of hiding the few inhuman elements that remain such as doubled pupils and cracked skin.
The more powerful an Arachne, the more monstrous their visage becomes. They grow secondary and tertiary eyes, their skin becomes grey and the cracks in their skin give way to a fuzzy coating of hairs/spines that they can use to sense vibrations in the air and such, and the corners of their mouths split open to make way for small mandibles which they use to inject higher doses of their venom to speed up the transformation process.
Arachne also possess a deadly venom that they inject into subdued prey via a stinger that they can extend out of their wrists. This venom is unique to venom sacs that reside within the arms/wrists of the Arachne whilst the venom used for creating more Arachne is stored in sacs in the throat.
Arachne are said to feed on human flesh, and are keen lay-in-wait type predators. They will set up burrows/nests in caves, ruins, or abandoned buildings and coat the nest in their sturdy webbing. Once an unsuspecting victim walks into the nest and comes into contact with the Arachne’s web they cannot escape. It’s nigh impossible for an unarmed individual to escape the web once the victim has gotten stuck on it and the more they struggle the quicker the Arachne is to find their prey within their web. After locating their trapped prey the Arachne will subdue and coat them in heavy layers of their web; caging the human until it succumbs to the venom (whether it be the lethal or transformative variation). Because of the way they hunt Arachne have learned to live on little food - often keeping corpses fresh for consumption for long periods of time within their nests.
The Signs:
The Arachne leave a trail of missing persons cases in the general vicinity of their nest.
The frequency of these missing persons will vary but there will be less than a 5 year gap between the last kill and the next as the Arachne will need to feed every 4 to 5 years.
The larger the colony of Arachne, the larger the quantity of missing persons cases.
Arachne nests are often surrounded by large quantities of spiders, unnaturally high amounts of spiders for what is expected for the area.
Hunting:
When looking to take out an Arachne a flamethrower is essential.
Fire cannot harm the Arachne itself but it is required to destroy the Arachne’s webs and save any remaining victims, or at the very least their remains
There is only one thing that the average hunter can do to kill an Arachne - Decapitation. Remove the head from the body and the threat is eliminated
There is no way to turn an Arachne back into a human but you can formulate an antidote to their deadly venom through a liquid blend of st.john's wort, chamomile, the ashes of the Arachne’s web, shavings of a ram’s horn, and gold dust. This must be administered early into the venom’s introduction to the body and anyone who is too far gone will die regardless.

Amazons | All Female Warrior Clan
Amazons
Species: Demi-humans
Origins: Ancient Greek Mythology
Abilities:
Rapid maturing: During the early stages of an Amazon’s life they will age at an unnaturally quick rate. It only takes a matter of days from conception for an amazonian child to be born and reach their late teens after which they will age as a normal human does.
Enhanced strength: As a gift from Harmonia to ensure their survival Amazons have incredible strength allowing them to easily throw full grown men across rooms with no issue.
Keen senses: Whilst their senses aren’t on a superhuman level, they naturally have very keen senses that would typically take a hunter years of training and battle to achieve
Innate weapons knowledge: As a blessing from the god Ares his children possess a natural knowledge on how to utilise all manner of weaponry from guns to swords and handaxes
Weaknesses:
Mortality: Despite their godly heritage Amazons are mere mortals and can be killed in any way that one would kill an average human.
Lore:
The Amazons are an all female clan of warriors from ancient Greek myth. They were known far and wide as incredibly skilled hunters and ruthless combatants that many generals would fear having to engage in war with. It comes as no surprise that these fearless warriors are children of Ares. The original queen and progenitor of all Amazons was Otrera; the demigoddess child of Ares and the nymph Harmonia.
Amazons are well known for their closed, all female, communities. They would utilise men for reproduction and would even go so far as to return any male offspring to the father, or outright abandon them in some cases. The culture of their community was very matriarchal and they had an intense distaste for men, often being referred to as “Slayers of men”.
They have played roles in many popular myths and stories from ancient Greece such as The Iliad and The Labours of Heracles.
The Amazons of the present day are far closer to humans than those of ancient Greece, the potency of their godly heritage long since diluted.
Their numbers are far smaller now; a great war, likely with Dionysus, driving them to near extinction. After this war the queen at the time prayed to Harmonia for aid. Harmonia granted her descendants stronger ties to their demigod heritage, allowing them to return to their former glory in terms of physical prowess.
As humanity progressed and the world opened up, the Amazons immigrated to America - no longer able to reside safely on their hidden island home. From this point onward they would meld into the current human culture, hiding themselves in plain sight, whilst working their way up the social ranks to effectively take control of the areas in which they live.
The Amazon matriarch is still revered as a queen in modern times and her word is absolute.
They follow old world traditions and are no stranger to using physical and mental abuse to “strengthen” the souls of their trainees. Their old-world style of parenting (if you could call it that) has led to children trying to flee from the grasp of the Amazons on multiple occasions but there has never been a successful escape reported - the children always being found and executed for their transgressions.
The most “monstrous” aspect of Amazonian life is their coming of age ceremony. All girls must kill their father as a pledge of loyalty to their matriarch.
Despite their demi-human status Amazons can easily pass as human without issue. Their only non-human elements being the unnerving shades of yellow and red that their eyes often take whilst they utilise their powers or during moments of high emotion.
The easiest way to identify an Amazon is through the sigil-like brand that each girl is given for their coming of age ceremony, which is often located on their right wrist.
The Signs:
Amazons are illusive beings and as such they can be very hard to track down outside of breeding periods.
Due to the quickened nature of gestation and growth of amazonian children, the coming of age ceremony quickly follows the breeding period which is why you are more likely to come across amazons whilst hunting.
The victims are always male and are often affluent and in good physical condition, they always have their limbs cut off and the mark of the Amazons carved into their chest.
There is usually a string of 5-8 deaths over the span of week and then all goes quiet for a couple of years.
The town that they find prey in will not be their actual base of operations in an attempt to keep their home safe from threat
Hunting:
The killing of an Amazon is much easier than one would expect as despite their godly heritage they are completely mortal beings
Anything that could slay your average human could just as easily kill an Amazon
However, due to their fierce training and capabilities in strategizing they are formidable foes that shouldn’t be taken lightly.

Acheri | The Black Eyed Children
Acheri
Species: Demon
Origins: Native American mythology (or possibly Hindu mythology)
Abilities:
Infliction of diseases: It is believed that Acheri cause sickness and disease wherever they go
Death song: The song of the Acheri is believed to be an omen of death to anyone who has heard it. In reality the Acheri’s song is more akin to a high pitched whisper that they use to disorient their prey whilst hunting.
Invisibility: The Acheri are capable of turning invisible whilst in their humanoid form
Body materialisation: Acheri have the ability to materialise on the physical plane without the use of a vessel
Shapeshifting: the Acheri can alternate between their gaseous and humanoid forms at will
Weaknesses:
Salt: Salt will stop any demon in its tracks and the Acheri are no different. They cannot pass through salt and are susceptible to rocksalt rounds as they do not have a true corporeal form.
Devil’s traps: Get an Acheri into a devil’s trap and it will be unable to leave until the sigil is broken.
Iron: Iron can be used to dissipate an Acheri’s form in a similar manner to a spirit.
Hallowed ground: Acheri are true manifestations of evil with no human vessel to protect them from the effects of hallowed ground. This means that they cannot enter anywhere that has been blessed and hallowed.
Salt + Burn: Acheri, like spirits, can be killed permanently if you are able to identify who the Acheri once was, locate their remains and then salt + burn them.
Lore:
The Acheri are nature spirits that are born from the violent death of a child - typically a girl. Also called “Hill Fairies” they take on the form of little girls with less than human elements such as sunken black eyes and a withered or skeletal countenance. They are also often depicted wearing skin dresses.
The term hill fairies most likely originates from the belief that they sleep within hilltops and mountains during the day whilst becoming more active during the night.
Over the course of the night they can be found wandering the hills and mountains that they call their home singing a death omen. Anyone who has heard the voice of an Acheri is said to suffer from disease as does their family. Acheri are often blamed for the death of children and the elderly who succumb to natural diseases as a result.
It is said that you can avoid an Acheri’s curse by wearing a red ribbon around your neck.
In reality the Acheri are demons that have the unique ability to materialise into the physical plane without the use of a vessel. When they do materialise they often choose to take the form of young children, typically girls, to gain the trust of their victims.
At first they hide their more demonic attributes, but they reveal elongated fingers that end in sharp points, vampiric-like teeth, and the typical demonic black eyes.
Like other demons their true form on the physical plane is pillars of living black smoke. Acheri often return to this form when needing to travel quickly or make their way into places that their humanoid form cannot, such as entering through closed windows.
Acheri demons are most likely the origins for the “black eyed child” phenomenon. Often spotted in parks or hitchhiking in the late hours of the night at isolated locations, these eerie kids prey on the adults that wish to protect them from harm.
Their presence is often accompanied by ghostly whispers and a chill in the air and despite their disarming appearance those close to an Acheri will often have their fight or flight kick in - an air of unease following the demons wherever they go.
Whilst these demons don’t require permission to enter homes and vehicles they do prefer to have it. The idea of their victims actively welcoming them into their abode to kill them causes the Acheri great joy. These demons are particularly malicious, enjoying the misery and suffering they inflict on their victims that comes with disguising themselves as children and then betraying the trust of those who sought to protect and look after them.
These demons, whilst peculiar in their ability to materialise without a vessel, aren’t particularly high up on hell’s hierarchy. As such they fall victim to the weaknesses of standard demons.
They are low level demons that are typically born from the souls of particularly evil children. Because of their origins these demons are few and far between, it isn’t often a truly evil soul dies at a young age after all.
The few humans who have been able to control the Acheri have all been Azazel’s special children but it is believed that there are certain rituals that allow for the magical binding of an Acheri into servitude.
The Signs:
Acheri attacks often resemble animal attacks in their ferocity.
Their victims will be torn to shreds but will be devoid of bite marks.
The lack of bite marks often causes confusion for coroners as their go to cause of death would be a wolf or wild cat attack (which would include biting)
The kills will be few and far between and it will only be lone individuals or at most single parents and their child
Upon further investigation of the crime scene you will likely find traces of sulphur in entryways such as doors or windows.
Along with this those who are in close continued proximity to the corpses will often fall ill - the severity depending on exposure levels.
The deaths will typically coincide with sightings of “black eyed children”
Hunting:
Acheri aren’t particularly interested in taking out hunters and won’t actively attack unless the hunter gets in the way of them killing their victim
Because Acheri do not take vessels they cannot be killed via standard methods such as Angel Blades and Ruby’s Knife. They are however still capable of being killed via smiting and such.
Acheri can be targeted in a similar way that one would hunt ghosts, so the use of salt rounds and iron tools is encouraged.
The best way to resolve an Acheri attack is to exorcise the demon and send it back to hell after trapping it in a devil’s trap
If you are capable of identifying the human soul that has become the Acheri and locate their remains you can kill the Acheri via a simple salt & burn of their bones.

Introductions
Hi guys! This is going to be a blog dedicated to my homebrew versions of all of the creatures in the Supernatural universe.
These are all based on IRL lore, SPN lore, and a healthy dose of headcanon! More info under the cut!
I will be working my way through the entirety of the creature section of the SPN wiki in alphabetical order and will tag each post based on the type of creature it is and where the creature's lore originally comes from.
If you guys think that there are any other helpful tagging systems I should implement let me know!
This is also probably not going to be updated consistently. Sorry but I jump from one special interest to another every couple of months and work kicks my ass.
